27 RepliesThe only thing this trailer killed was what little remaining interest I had in Destiny. I fully understand the notion of killing off an important character in order to bring some sense of realism, or depth, to the universe. I really do, and it's not like it hasn't been done before in different franchises (TV, game, comic, etc) to great effect. However, the problem is in whom you chose to kill. It's not because I have any particular like for Cayde but because he is by far the most popular NPC in Destiny. Cayde's the only interesting character. Zavala's stuffy and boring, more so now that you've screwed up his opinion of Rasputin in Warmind. Ikora's a boring know-it-all. Neither ever made much of a connection with the player despite supposedly being mentor-type characters. The rest of the Tower figures might as well be vending machines for all the 'presence' they have. But Cayde, he embodied the player. He disregarded protocol when it suited him and did things his way, much as the player does. We do things our own way. We could relate to him. Look at popular television. When a character in an ensemble cast becomes a fan-favorite, they're usually elevated in prominence and are generally safe from any serious story negativity. This is because if the fan-favorite is taken away, the fans might just stop watching. If you need to off a character for some plot reason, you pick a lesser-liked but still relevant character. You had 2 opportunities to do this, with Zavala and Ikora (who are the only other NPCs that qualify as 'relevant', if only barely) but you didn't. You took away the fan favorite. Yeah, it's done some good as was intended: you've got a lot of people angry and itching to get their digital vengeance. But for others, like me, you took away the only thing remotely interesting in this game. I have no interest anymore. Another thing is that you shouldn't have shown this at all. In effect, you've not revealed the story: you've spoiled it. The shock and anger players are experiencing right now is something that should have happened after launch, when that moment happened in-game. In effect, you've just told us that Vader's Luke's dad. No point in participating now: we know the twist. You cashed in that surprise far too early. I hope it works out for you Bungie, I really do, but your track record is not promising.

2 RepliesSo it's true. That is why everyone looks at me all weird now. I'm a dead man walking. Thank you so much for all the years. You are the best generation of guardians a Vanguard could ask for. You have all accomplished more in the past 5 years than the Me, Zavala's, Ikora's, and even Shaxx's lifetimes combined. You slayed Gods, LITERAL GODS, PLURAL, while I sat in my area doing NOTHING. You are me, and more. Titans, keep on smashing skulls and breaking (and building) walls. Most of you were tough as nails, and able kept down my homemade Raman. THAT is a more dangerous task than killing any God. Warlocks, keep on learning everything about this massive universe. And keep correcting people all the time. I want my Hunters to be Asher level smart, so don't let up. And don't tell them I said that or they'd kill me. Hunters... Um, I'm not sure what to say. I guess, just be free. Get out of the Tower every once in a while. Go explore. And don't tell Zavala this, but don't be loyal to the Vanguard just because. Go do what YOU think needs to be done. This isn't call to be an idiot, which, yes, I know I can be a bit... impulsive. Just follow your gut. And let your gun do the talking when the occasion calls it. And for those of you asking, no Cayde-7. As far as what Ana told me, Exos can't be rebooted if their body is destroyed. Don't worry, I've seen this coming one way or another. Just do me one thing: Make sure Uldren knows how you feel.

I'm sorry but this just a stupid move. I'm seriously struggling right now with continuing any support for this franchise. So you kill off the only likeable NPC in the entire game outside of Fail-Safe you realize this is such a huge mistake that you better let us keep our gear going and you know that division 2 + anthem are coming out. So some jerk says we need a darker world with consequences and we can shock our audience by killing off their favorite in NPC but I got news for you there is no one else in that game that people look forward to seeing other than maybe the Queen herself. What are my motivations for playing now getting a higher score in PvP making a little numbers in the top right corner larger without a storyline Destiny is Hollow.

45 RepliesMisson 1: retrieve the body Mission 2: collect a material, that has nothing to do with what would make Cayde better, from a planet he's never been to. Mission 3: bring the material to Anna Bray (gotta milk her involvement) to fix him. Mission 4: Anna has conveniently lost some tool crucial for the repair, go find it Mission 5: oh and we need a shard of the traveller, go get it Cayde is now fixed, and the storyline has been completed... Gambit better be good...

2 RepliesI hope we can revive Cayde-6 in the future. That must not in forsaken, but in the next dlc‘s. I hope so. And please not in destiny 3 for marketing.

11 RepliesI have to say this: I’m worried. Killing important characters has only limited success, check Walking Dead falling ratings, and even the killing of Han in Force Awakens practically destroyed the Solo movie’s box office results (and now there are reports that subsequent spinoff films have been put on hold). Killing Cayde could affect equally. Fiction (in this case, games) should not be like life. Life is exactly what we’re trying to take a break from when we play games They need to be better and make more sense. Don’t force things, please. I know you guys are under pressure to deliver a better game, but the ends never justify the means. Work the problems, don’t make it worse by just guessing. - Huge Destiny fan.

29 RepliesI'm still not pre-ordering.

10 RepliesSo. Uh. Just saying. We know that Cayde isn't dead. Because Uldren shot him in the head with Ace of Spades. And firefly didn't proc. There for, Cayde is still alive.

4 RepliesEdited by ocebn_man: 6/26/2018 8:43:22 PMI think Cayde dying is the best thing Destiny has done so far. Don’t get me wrong I love Cayde, but they’re using him as a magnet to try to draw back attention. They can use this opportunity to try to fix Destiny finally. They can use our live for this character to develop actual story and make the community feel for the expansion. Remember when Lee from The Walking Dead? When he died we felt remorse, because of his character development, and since Cayde is like the most developed character in Destiny they have a chance to fix this mess.

Since cayde is part of destiny2 and d2 died in December of 2017 did he die twice?

7 RepliesEdited by Eqitx: 6/17/2018 6:13:00 PMThis time if you see an article on vg247 or other websites who tried a preview version trying to warn you this dlc is bugged and boring crap not worth your money, try to listen.

-
2 RepliesWho cares about Cayde? Good riddance. He was annoying. Every single sentence that came out of his mouth was some wise-cracking “witty” joke.
-
Are you guys gonna fix the resilience issue? Where I seem to have a rating of 0 every once and a while, when it is at 10?
-
23 RepliesWhy couldn’t you kill Tess everess instead?

8 RepliesEdited by gallp13: 6/19/2018 4:28:37 PM
In a lawless frontier, take justice into your own hands. The hunt is on.
Sacrifice Cayde on the alter of your faltering game, for what? To make a quick dirty buck. Simply awful. 👎

1 ReplyYour game sucks. D2 deleted

1 ReplyOnce again bungie has figured out our fav and removed it from the game. Hey they seem to really like this guy, we need to remove this shit! We can just kill him off in the next DLC, every time we -blam!- these players they buy our shit, let’s keep -blam!-ing em!
