The reason D1 was good is the same reason Napoleon Dynamite was good, the same reason Sharknado was good, they were terrible but they had this appeal to them that people just fell for, D1 was no different, it had no story, the DLC’s were subpar at best (until taken king) and there were a lot of quality of life changes that took forever to implement (looking at you vault space) but despite all that the game had some great things about it, the vault, the stupidly powerful/rage inducing exotics, felwinters sniper, soloing crota for the first time, the game despite all its flaws had moments that were simply unforgettable and D2 fails to capture that for most people, we had some great things from D1 that should have been in D2 from the start yet for some ungodly reason aren’t there yet, and for most the love they had for destiny faded when they realized the game they loved had been tossed aside and will take forever to get back to its former glory
No it wasn't. D1 was ass. But it kept players coming back. So it's better than this game. It got better over time through expansions. And worse in some ways.
It was soooo good for about 6 months. From TTK on, the developers seriously made you play their way only. D1 only looks as good as it does because we have D2 to compare it to. TTK's introduction of fireteam requirements for quests alongside of taking away ALL of the weapons we obtained in year one, then having the gall to reintroduce them causing us to grind for them again? It certainly was not soooo good.
