Bungie.net is created for and maintained for people who play Bungie's games. What's it's not is a public domain existing solely for public use. So why would a private business, running a website and forums for their players, want their forums populated by anyone in the world as a public speaking platform? They wouldn't and it would be reckless and irresponsible to do so. They have to make these forums safe for the players to populate. That means moderation. So let's look at moderating the people who own or have played your game vs moderating the entire planet population that wants to show up. And you think this is some Bungie thing. Ever heard of a company named Blizzard? Maybe a game World of Warcraft? It doesn't matter if you own or have played WoW. If you don't have an active sub, you can't participate on the forums. This is one of the best things Bungie has done and it should've been like that since launch.

It should have been done sooner. Plus you can get to the Farm with the Free Trial and it still counts. #fakenews

20 RepliesNot even going to watch the vid. Don't care to hear it. I was surprised to learn that the forums weren't already restricted to actual Destiny players. I think most if not all game forums operate that way. You need to have an account to be able to post. That's the way it should be. In the last few months these forums have been ruined by a constant stream of rancid hatred of the type that isn't helpful to anyone involved. All it has done is fester and grow to the point where it drowns out actual useful feedback. I am glad to see them take tighter control of the forums by removing those voices who have no business here.

How many more false news are there comming They stated that you can Download the trial and spend 15 minuts in the non-payed free trial so you can use the forums -- Players that have reached the Farm can use the forums -- Trials -- Download-- play -- Go to forum That easy

It’s not going to stop the feed back as the ones who have a voice worth listening to are the ones who have actually played. The ones complaining and for good reason are the ones who have played. The bandwagon haters that have never played and are never going to, can kiss off. They are not Destiny fans posting to make the game better they are just trolls. A crap ton of people purchased this game and are not happy. Those voices will still be heard. Those are the voices serving of being listened to. The voice that won’t be heard are the ones who never played to begin with and their trolls and BS isn’t needed on these forums. They are making it harder to get them to hear the voices of those who have actual tangible feedback.

Hell, I've been saying for years now that you should not only have to own the game, but you should be absolutely required to link your game and forum accounts. I get tired of people abusing the anonymity factor to just post whatever they want, because the worst that happens to them is they have to spin up another burner account. There's nothing wrong with holding you accountable for your actions on a private service.

I agree with the changes, It keeps people like Anita Sarkeesian from professionally ruining art, it may not be pretty but thats what it is. Sure it tosses out everyone who just comes around to go to off topic but in the end the discussion and all that it entails belongs to the players and developers. If you don't know who Anita Sarkeesian is, she is a non gamer feminaz1 that gets payed to "pep talk" devs about "culture" and ruin games (SJWBF2, ME: Andromeda, Anthem). Never played a game in her life but gets payed as a "consultant". These changes keep people like her out and the more of that the gaming community as a whole gets, the better.
