I want to love this game but Bungie won't let me. These exotics are awful. Destiny 1 had way better exotics. Why can't we have good weapons in D2? No weapons come close to the galley or icebreaker, D1 was so much better

2 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 2/6/2018 4:21:08 PMIt's a hell of a lot more then just exotics that are bad in this game. Who the hell thought making Titans look like Buzz Lightyear was a great idea. I don't know who was the one that created the gear for ROI, but they need to be put back on the job ASAP! If it is the same person. WTH happen because the gear in D2 is not what anyone can call talent. As far as the exotics go. What happen to having an imagination creating weapons like (Touch Of Malice) that is a unique weapon that has visual and is a fun weapon to use that keeps a gamers interest? I mean, this is how lazy this entire company has become and it shows throughout this entire game that they don't care about making a quality type of game anymore to keep a gamers interest. Other then suckers that fall for the trinkets that this company only has to offer this game to keep it afloat that are not worth the time on acquiring. Seriously, Bungie offered ornaments to keep this game afloat on reskinned broken weapons? WoW! that some real talent there and some real effort put into this game. Lets not make new weapons that are unique and fun to use, lets just reskin what we have and call it good.

4 RepliesEdited by TSGN Leviathan: 2/5/2018 11:15:35 AMColdheart, Prometheus Lens, Sunshot, The Colony and Dubious Volley are really good exotics in my opinion (though Sunshot could be doing with a larger mag), but pretty much all the others are lackluster:- - DARCI needs to have greater stability to take advantage of that fire rate without kicking all over the place as well as a buff to the amount of extra damage against highlighted enemies - Sweet Business needs greater carried ammo capacity, dries up way to fast, plus give it Crowd Control, if there was ever a perfect gun for that perk this is it! - Skyburners Oath (when ADS) needs the same buff as High Impact Scout Rifles: higher precision damage - Rat King: all sidearms that are not Omolon-made need a large ammo capacity increase, Rat King should also get slight damage increase PER RAT KING NEARBY, not when there are six people using it which is never realistically going to happen, what fireteam is going to use Rat Kings in a Raid? - Fighting Lion: just get rid of it entirely and replace it with a new exotic, this thing is awful - Sunshot: very good in PvE and fun to use, but 8 in the mag is way to low for its archetype - Jade Rabbit: maybe instead of a perk which requires no precision on a weapon meant for precision, maybe replace the Fate of all Fools perk with the Triple Double perk form the WotM Scout Rifle in D1, also its archetype in general needs a precision damage buff - Vigilance Wing: very good in PvP in my experience, but not so much in PvE - Graviton Lance: the explosion should not be delayed. This gun sends targets hurtling backwards which means by the time the explosion has occured, the corpse is too far away from anyone to even matter other than looking pretty, also add to its perks as it doesn't really do anything, perhaps grant grenade and melee energy on kills - The Prosecuter: the grenades should not bounce, they should stick just like Hakke Grenade Lauchers in order to make the most of the guns' ability to detonate all grenades at once, would make it a very interesting weapon for laying traps, kind of like a grenade-launcher version of Telesto - Telesto: Very good damage output and fun to lay traps but reloading holstered weapons as an exotic perk is just useless, have it grant additional Super energy for the user on multi kills - Sturm & Drang: Sturm needs to do more than just reload holstered Energy weapon and the amount of extra precision damage Drang adds to the Sturm needs to be increased

Edited by PureDouchebagery: 2/6/2018 7:58:35 PMI think it's more the weapon types and exotic perks don't match up well. Like think of a hand cannon or submachine gun or even 3 round burst sidearm with rat Kings perks. Or crimson's perks on a scout or auto. Or a even a variation of the fighting lions on a energy shotty or hand cannon. I think they tried hard to make an exotic of every type and some types are pretty useless. I guess this is a sales pitch for custom exotics or exotic mods. I'd use them how bout you?

5 RepliesWe definitely need a better exotic rocket launcher, the wardcliff is good but it's no gally.
-
1 ReplyThey're on the same level as the "exotic" dancers at the local hole in the wall strip club.
-
1 ReplyTelesto is besto. I agree for the most part though.

3 RepliesSome of the exotics are actually pretty fun, at least as good as many of D1's (though yes, PvP balancing has eliminated some of the coolest perks). THE COLONY: If you're a heavy weapons guy, this thing can be crazy-fun in PvP. That guy around the corner thinks he safe. POP-POP, no he's not! DUBIOUS VOL, ah, WARDCLIFF COIL: Gjallarhorn-esque weapon of mass destruction. COLD HEART: A very effective DPS machine. SWEET BUSINESS: Also a very effective DPS machine, especially with Actium War Rig. And if you're a PvP player with weak fine motor skills (like me), this gun may surprise you with how good it is. In the time it takes me to actually aim at my enemy, I'm cycling up, so by the time I'm sighted in, the gun is really starting to do damage. MIDA MULTI-TOOL and VIGILANCE WING: Their perks are a bit boring, but they're top-end PvP weapons. RISKRUNNER: Super-situational gun, very limited use in PvP and against Vex. However, because of what it can do in certain situations, it was the only gun carried by all three of my D2 Guardians (and will be again when my new hunter levels up). If you are facing closely spaced enemies that inflict arc damage, this gun can absolutely annihilate them.

Edited by Dark Raven 2501: 2/6/2018 2:56:05 AMHere’s a interesting point exotic weapons & armour are supplied to xur the agent of nine from the nine yet I never heard of that the nine been attacked by the red legion so with that in mind the items that were available from Xur should still be obtainable regardless of the rad war. So at this point it only bungie that needs to get off they fatass & do something to fix this problem.

I often find myself not even using an exotic in my loadout.
-
They somehow made the D1 exotics worse lol. Thanks, nerf babies.

1 ReplyNo exotic in D2 will come even remotely close to those two, period. Those were rare, gally even more so than ice, I did Raids every week at least once since D1 launch, when did I get my first gally? Near the TTK release, like two or three weeks before, it got left behind. Meanwhile in D2 exotics are dirt cheap, you get one at level 10 and another before you reach 20, the most glaring issue with D2 Exotics they feel like any other weapon/armor they don’t give the sensation of power like D1 exotics did, heck even good old legendary Black Hammer year 1 would beet most (if not all) exotic snipers of D2. In fact, the great majority of weapons in D2 feel utterly boring, I get it that there must be balance especially when you have PvP and PvE running on the same table so to speak, but too balanced and everything becomes lacklustre, and as a final nail on the coffin, we have scaling and an obnoxious abuse of boss immune time mechanics.
-
1 ReplyYep Ice Breaker is a true exotic Gjally was the boss killer Last Word and Thorn pvp killer And many more, those just come to mind
-
1 ReplySunshot and the Colony are great. That's it though.
-
1 ReplyIf a weapon rises to the top as being better than most, then it's used in PVP by the majority of players, which causes calls for nerfs, then it gets nerfed. This cycle neuters anything that stands out so all weapons become one morass of boringness. Now if PVP and PVE were separated, I could enjoy the stand out weapons instead of having my PVE experience dulled down because of PVP.
-
2 RepliesI think we first need to ask why those weapons were popular. Why was gjallarhorn so popular? It was rare, and it helped everyone deal with the excessive amount of bullet sponges d1 had. D2 exotics are easier to get, and there are less bullet sponges. So regardless of what is introduced a gjallarhorn can't be replicated. Why was icebreaker popular? As someone else has said. It was a cheese weapon. It was really only popular because it allowed players a get around for game mechanics. It allowed you to have special ammo in pvp, and allowed you to camp in the nightfall and raids without worry of missing out on ammo. Neither of these weapons on their own are particularly interesting. But they served purpose. D2 exotics don't have defined rolls in the overarching gameplay, and thus all kind of blend into one another.

7 RepliesEdited by nerf police: 2/5/2018 12:31:08 PMThe “power fantasy” was removed from D2, all enemies scale to you now, power level in D2 is quite different to light level in D1. This was done to help balance pvp and to appeal to a more casual player base. This is why ALL armour is nothing more than cosmetic and weapons just about shoot stuff. With this scaling mechanic you will never have interesting powerful perks. I have tried to explain this to a lot of people, so many players haven’t realised this, it’s the main reason I stopped playing.

7 RepliesIcebreaker was a cheese.

Edited by blade329: 2/5/2018 6:34:29 PMArrggghh.....I HATED the exotics in this game. There was no point to them at all. It's was a placebo. Junk gear pretending to be something special. Only Mida was worth anything to me.
-
Remember in 2016 when bungie said, "We don't Want exotics to be overpowered, rather just LOOK exotic". Go back on that dogsht decision
-
The colony is fun. Outside of that, nothing else compares. Look at how they nerfed the Mida from D1 to D2.

2 RepliesUnfortunately, all weapons in general were dumbed down since D2. While D1 suffered heavily from the constant flux of weapon nerfs that very few players ever actually asked for (fusion rifle stability) I get the feeling that the devs had to remodel everything towards a slower ttk so that they could have better control over balancing patches. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean that they are competent enough to carry out on that. If I were in charge, I’d focus on improving faster ttk’s and constantly supervise changes made to weapons. Take for instance the legend of all legends, Vex Mythoclast. It had a vastly unfair advantage back in Year 1 so the first changes made to it were vastly necessary to keep it in line with the PvP lineup, however, over time many subsequent nerfs only dropped Mythoclast further down in terms of being an upstanding exotic. It’s still decent to this day, but it has fallen so far from grace that it barely resembles its former glory. ”Exotics should feel exotic.” A powerful gun should not have to be dumbed down because of an advantage in a gametype. Instead, other weapons should be brought up so that we have a power hierarchy, especially for exotic weapons. A TFC should be stronger than a Palindrome and a Riskrunner should handle better than a non-endgame submg. How hard would it be to have a place set up for some of the devs to host their own private matches, test out their implemented changes and take notes afterwards? If they had simply done that, they could’ve avoided a lot of hassle back in D1 and would’ve opened the prospect of making weapon balancing way more efficiently.

1 Replywatch Eververse sell masterwork exotics in the next update for the low price of 1000 000 silver

But Masterwork exotics you know that thing we asked for....trying to implement grind and very poorly.
