Bungie can now retcon or hand wave the original material away. There goes what made D1 interesting.

Thoughts?

Perhaps his heart is in the right place, and he can only do so much, but can Bungie pull through? Will the higher ups call more bad shots? MTX got abused. How will the writing and lore be treated?
Edit 2: Stohl apologizes but doesn’t clarify. More vagueness. Also, despite all the likes, Bungie mods have buried this post to hide the flack they’re getting. Going to repost this.

2 RepliesCmon man d1 story was heavily criticised anyway. Its probably a good thing to try and start fresh.
-
2 RepliesI only care about a better grind, not the freaking folklore/grimoire. If they change it...they change it. I don't care.

6 RepliesIn before continued misinterpretation. Considering that most of Destiny's backstory happens over hundreds of years, yeah, I would say that at least a portion of it is purely legend.
-
The Grimoire is folk lore, even though we were given things later in the game or even in D2 that CONFIRMED things we theorized from the Grimoire? K.
-
Who cares? Really the statement was fine. You lore types are as bad as the pvpers for taking things out of context and looking for things to bitch about. Get over it.

3 RepliesEven though everyone already misread this post; What they meant was everything that we hear about or encounter in Destiny can be interpreted a few way. Everything that happens is based on rumor, legends, and folklore. The inhabitants of the last city don’t really know what happened to the iron lords, or the queen, or what the darkness really is... they think they know based on stories So what we hear from the characters is just what they know from rumor and story telling. As result we, the protagonist, end up finding out our own version of these stories and creating our own legend in the process. Then again what’s the point of explaining anything to you since non of you have a original opinion and most of you jumped on the anti Bungie bandwagon due to hearing your own folklore 🙄
-
One bad decision after the other. Whats the point of even supporting this franchise anymore if bungie wont stop making stupid mistakes and false promises. We should just ditch the franchise like how we did with the Division and hope to god they fix their damn game
-
What is going on at Bungie? What is there thought process? This company is a shıtshow that needs to dissolve and disappear forever.

2 RepliesBullsh*t

At the end of the day when you look up the definition of folklore and then realize this game is made up anyways, it's really not that bad. A lot of other things in life to really be concerned about.
-
D1 Lore: Take your pen. Write me out with all of your hatred and your journey to the mediocre side will be complete! Bungie: .....Okie dokie! D1: ....god damnit...
-
Seriously, Bungie is so lazy they can't even check their own lore. Or are too scared to mess something up and have to explain it so they'll just write it off as "WE NEVER MEANT IT TO BE TRUE!". This game is truly dead. The Grimoire was the best thing they had going in it and it's taken them, what? 4 years? To not implement it into the game in any meaningful way. Now this comes up just to show that will continue to be the trend.
-
Seems like pure arrogance and ignorance on bungie’s part

I feel like this was pretty much true all along anyway. I don’t think it matters until there are specific conflicts. If they use it as justification to erase the lore, that would be pretty shitty unless they use it to create something better. I’m skeptical it’ll be as good but it’s not like they’re actively tying in the cooler aspects of the grimoire anyway. They just don’t have the creative talent left to make something worthwhile.

Edited by Force58: 1/28/2018 5:26:44 PMWho is this tweeter in relation to Bungie? Does she work for them? Never mind, I see she's Bungie's Narrative Director. Figures based on D2's story, or complete lack thereof. Sad.
-
Man, this game is so done.
-
5 RepliesBungie apparently can not do right with any piece of this franchise. That's my takeaway.
-
This is just another example of what bungie is now.
-
9 RepliesCan we stop with the marvel style story and have a more DC approach
-
6 RepliesProbably cause they realized all the plot holes and didnt want to have to worry about the past lore. Idiots.
-
8 RepliesThe sad part is the current writers are trash they are pushing out the good story for this childish dumbed down b.s.
-
This makes me sad

2 RepliesIs he threatening that Bungie can make grimoire 'folklore'?
