Prometheus lens is completely broken in PVP.
It has high range, virtually no damage falloff, a damage over time burn effect, and it has the lowest time to kill in the game by about half right now. It's 100% broken. Even more then the vex mythoclast was pre nerf in destiny 1. Did they even playtest this? Its like having constant heavy ammo.
Update: Deej tweeted out that the gun shipped with a bug and will be fixed. All of you defending it or downplaying its power are unsurprisingly wrong.
Update 2: Xur is selling it. Guns still broken and needs to be fixed but at least now PVP will be an even playing field until they do.

Dear god the level of ignorance here. The gun kills in under 0.4 seconds, the closest thing in the game to that is the last hopes 0.7 seconds, and the last hope is only useful at about 15 feet. This gun can cross map and beat out scout rifles and maintain the 0.4 second time to kill. There is no defense against this gun in PVP, it isn't a debate, that's just a fact. It is, without a doubt, broken.

So those that wanted a nerf to ruin yet another weapon got their way. TWAB: "We know about the Prometheus Lens. It’s not what we intended. The weapon shipped with a bug, which we intend to fix with Destiny Update 1.1.1, along with everything else in the December update. These types of comment are the reason the game is so bland. I do not have it and have been killed by it, but still would prefer to see it left as is. A great gun for the newbie in trials. Everyone can get it lets see how it plays out when it becomes the new meta.

I don't even have the gun but I'll be damed if I act like anything that happens in this game is worth getting worked up about. Treat it like Mayhem Clash. Lets nerf it. Id rather have the gun shoot roses that increases enemyplayers health. That goes for all guns. Why kill eachother when we can live in peace and play football on the farm?

So yeah, I got this thing with my first exotic engram of the launch. Proceeded to get three double kills in the first minutes of the first pvp match. Now, I don't really suck at pvp, but this thing makes me look like Rambo on Ritalin. I'm inclined to keep it holstered until I see one from the other side, but - damn it was fun.

1 ReplyThe PL has a faster time-to-kill than an SMG at close range landing all headshots -- which is nearly impossible. It's TTK is about 0.4 seconds on a steady stream aimed at the head. It's obviously bugged. Why would anyone want this gun to remain in the game? Do you want Crucible to degenerate into teams standing at EXTREME ranges teamshotting with MIDA and nothing else to avoid the chaos of lasergun battles?

I mean don't get me wrong, it's hilarious to see how broken this weapon is, but it's way too broken to leave it as is. For all of the people who are defending it, you guys are crazy lol. Trials sure is going to be fun this weekend, that's if it isn't canceled, which it should be, and I think it will be.

3 RepliesI saw a lot in crucible today, some people made it look just as good as you describe. Others not so much. matches I had a teammate using it. Took us no time to get kills on teamshots. However, they were still competitive matches whenever I had a teammate with it. Dont have it yet so idk what its like personally. In matches where I played against it... because of the hype, we targeted that player consistently killing them. It does have a short ttk and Im not sure if this was my clan members and I verteran status, but we competed with it quite well. In one on ones we just gave em the little shimmy shake or a jump move. I have definitely been killing players using it probably about 5 times to every 1 time I died to it. Dont worry Ill take into account skill and teammate help and say you may all be right about this. However, from my experience so far it hasnt been an issue. Im sure Ill come across someone beastly with it and feel defeated but I lost maybe a total of 5 out of 30 matches today and only 1 team we lost to even used this gun. Its a great concept and if it gets nerfed into uselessness youll all make jokes about it. My solution give coldheart the same stats and watch the beams fly :D Just kidding, idc what happens to it, but I hope it stays competitive after this because itd be nice not to have another useless exotic in the horde of unused weapons.
