Prometheus lens is completely broken in PVP.
It has high range, virtually no damage falloff, a damage over time burn effect, and it has the lowest time to kill in the game by about half right now. It's 100% broken. Even more then the vex mythoclast was pre nerf in destiny 1. Did they even playtest this? Its like having constant heavy ammo.
Update: Deej tweeted out that the gun shipped with a bug and will be fixed. All of you defending it or downplaying its power are unsurprisingly wrong.
Update 2: Xur is selling it. Guns still broken and needs to be fixed but at least now PVP will be an even playing field until they do.

Dear god the level of ignorance here. The gun kills in under 0.4 seconds, the closest thing in the game to that is the last hopes 0.7 seconds, and the last hope is only useful at about 15 feet. This gun can cross map and beat out scout rifles and maintain the 0.4 second time to kill. There is no defense against this gun in PVP, it isn't a debate, that's just a fact. It is, without a doubt, broken.

1 ReplyI just posted this in another thread... I got the Prometheus Lens to drop last night. I had to give it a go to find out what everyone was talking about. It's true, the gun is OP as can be. I'm a sh*t PvP player- my efficiency score is 1.53- but not with this weapon. I was ripping fools to shreds, and ended up with a 16.0 efficiency score. Nobody stood a chance against my bright red death laser. I died exactly once in the match, and that was because I RAN OUT OF AMMO mid gunfight. As in, I used the gun so much I completely depleted the magazine. Now, did I feel good about This? Powerful? No, I felt guilty. Dirty. The opposing team stood no chance against us, simply due to the existence of this gun, and I ruined that game for the opposing team. I won't be using it in PvP again.

35 RepliesPeople actually think there's nothing wrong with how quickly you can kill people with this weapon? Oh right, the ones that don't think it's a problem are the ones using it. Ever been killed by a non-power weapon in 0.5 seconds? That's exactly what this weapon does... You stand literally no chance against it unless you're also using the same weapon in which case you both just kill each other. What is WORSE is that the beam has an increasing AOE effect added to it. So the player using it doesn't even have to aim perfectly to kill you.Tried and tested this AND tested against it with the coldheart. The coldheart is a prime example of how it SHOULD work; you need precise aiming and it doesn't kill you instantly, it's gradual and takes skill to use. It's absolutely disgusting players are using the prometheus lens and calling themselves "good". If you're using it, you're not "good". You're the laughing stock of the game because you clearly can't win crucible any other way. Inb4 NERF; enjoy it while you can because we all know once it's nerfed you won't play crucible any more.

I agree, this gun ruined crucible play entirely. Now that everyone has it from Xur, this is the only weapon being used in the crucible besides a power weapon, and makes every other kinetic/energy weapon useless at this point. This gun either needs some serious nerfing or removed entirely IMO

I honestly do not understand why ppl thinks "it is not overpowered".. When you enter a cruiclble match EVERYBODY is using this weapon. Honestly I seriously HATE this weapon. I got it from XUR and on PvE it is fun. But in PVP I want to use my Hand Cannon as always. But I need at least 3 - 4 seconds to kill an opponent where he/she needs only 0.4 seconds!

It's all tactics. Release a broken exotic intentionally to get people excited for it, get them playing and trying to get it. Now they can say the DLC was really popular because of all the players playing and that unfortunately we have to nerf the broken gun. It worked on me, I came back on to get the gun

Honestly the fact it came in broken (how could they not know about it?) and has not been fixed yet (hotfix anybody?) has left me with a very bad taste. It is LITERALLY gamebreaking for PvP, to the point whichever team has the most lenses will win, and Bungie is all like "Oh yea, we'll get around to fixing it next update". PvP is the only shit I did in this game and now I can't PvP. I guess I know how all the D1 fans felt now when they played D2 for the first time (never played D1).

this is very good game,before it came to the patterns. players leave after the first batch. 4 vs. 2 - 4 vs 1. then. dlc players should have their own 4 vs 4 field.

7 RepliesI don't have the gun, haven't faced it but please explain the difference in this trace rifle vs Coldheart. The damage & range stats are the same, Coldheart has more ammo. Lens can refill the mag on kills.. ok.. how many times have you 1v1'ed a Coldheart and they run out of ammo, you're still alive, and you kill them while reloading? I don't get the difference, it's the same stats. PVP players have ruined enough.. now they're getting panties in a bunch with every new gun, shockingly

I think you're over hyping it a bit, yes I'll agree that I got melted by it a few times last night, even when I had the jump on someone. But it's not vex op, nothing ever will be. Besides that we need to look at this as an opportunity to show bungie we like powerful guns! I say more of it please!
