Let me first state that this game is not perfect! But it is definitely not a trash game either :)
Being a HUGE D1 fan, i have had a lot of fun in D2. I have 200 hours at the moment, and i still return every week to complete some milestones and play raid with friends in the weekends.
(Yes i actually find the raid funny, not the best one they ever made, but definitely not the worst either! *cough* Crota *cough*)
90% of posts on the forum right now:
Bungie lied to us!
- No? I have yet to see anything they promised pre-launch that has not been implemented. You might not like the actual implementation, but Bungie has not lied to you.
Bungie stole my money!
- Come on! Research what you buy before you buy it! Don't pre-order a game and then whine about pre-ordering it because you didn't like it. Just wait til after it is released and do some initial research before you buy. This is really your own fault!
Bungie fix your game
- Bungie is not gonna throw away everything in their hands 2 months after launch and completely redesign a game that they just only published on all platforms. How can people seriously expect this?
This game is shit / etc etc...
- How are you supposed to fix anything from posts like this? I am all for constructive criticism, but being a developer myself, i can tell you that nothing will ever get fixed based on posts like that.
The devs does not listen to their community!
- Bungie has already stated in a weekly update that they know people are complaining about lack of end game content, and they are looking into it. And the TwitchCon stream showed that the live team is working on all sorts of other fixes to address concerns. They might not answer every possible thread on the forum, but based on the quality of posts on this forum, it is quite understandable.
Lack of content!
- This is a brand new game? Did people expect this to have the same amount of content as D1 Y3, a game with 4 released expansion packs and 3 years of post-launch development?
PVP is runied!
- I like the new PVP alot more than in D1! But for those that dont, blame the people that flooded the forum in the D1 era with posts whining over Crucible being unbalanced! Stupid Bungie for listening to the community ;)
D2 is dying! / Player base is disappearing
- I cant even count how many times i have read this in the D1 era without the game ever dying! And who expects a game to never loose player base with time? At some point you will always exhaust the content. This seems completely normal to me.
My own suggestions for improvements:
Strike specific loot - Gives a reason to play strikes in the endgame.
Heroic lost sectors - Not sure how this would work :) But lost sectors are a very cool addition to the game, and a system that would make them relevant at end game would be cool. Maybe a weekly milestone for completing a hidden heroic lost sector?
A more comprehensive mod system for weapons - Now that weapons have fixed rolls, i always thought it would be more of a "build your god roll" instead of RNG. Mods are really under-utilised for weapons. Much potential here for improvement.
Iron banner rewards underwhelming - Seems like Bungie is already working on fixing this.
Raid loot system underwhelming - Agreed, but i find the raid quite enjoyable anyway.
The world design of D2 and the way you interact with the world is 100x better than D1!
Conclusion
If you really dont like the game then just move on. I have bought many games in the past that i regretted, but i dont spam the games forum with crap posts for weeks after finding out. I usually just find another game to play instead.
D2 is a very solid game in my opinion, i have had great fun with it. My average play time at this point has fallen (as is normal), but i still enjoy returning a couple of times a week with friends doing Nightfall, Raid and Crucible/Iron Banner. I am really looking forward to the next DLC and season 2 to see what Bungie comes up with. They have always done a great job with post-launch content.
---- UPDATE ----
For all the people that still dont think Bungie listens to its community. Please read this: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46427 as stated in this post, it was reasonable to think Bungie would focus on releasing the game on all platforms before starting to redesign features :D

41 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 10/27/2017 1:28:53 AMLet me get this straight...This is nothing personal, I'm only expressing an opinion and nothing more. A company that is a AAA gaming company that has been in business for almost 30 years that made a (complete trilogy) that started out in 2001 for us if I'm correct and was one of the best games for it's time and all the way up until Reach. Which by the way, Reach has anywhere from 8000 to 10000 gamers or more every single day playing it up until this day. Here it is that 3 companies working on D2 can't make a complete game even though they have been working on Destiny since 2007 with 3 years of feedback from their entire player base across the entire world? What makes it worse is that D1 vanilla had a lot less content and it had twice if not triple that incentive to run what little content was offered. What is more mind boggling is just about everything that gave gamers the motivation to play D1 was removed. And you say this isn't as bad as it seems? Now I know gamers like D2 and that is fine for gamers that will always settle for less, knowing Bungie has create this illusion that less is better and since Y1 it took 2 more years for this company just to get D1 running somewhat normal. D2 only has content and most everything else has been remove from this entire game, and what I mean by everything else that is the most important things in any game that is a loot based system. Is Incentive and motivation. Gamers didn't buy D2 to just look at the scenery people, they were led to believe that D2 had a rewarding loot system, which by the way it literally does not and is the main reason why so many have dropped from this game. Gamers keep trying to compare content versus Incentive and those gamers that think games are made just to look at the scenery are trapped in Bungie's illusion that content outweighs Incentive an motivation. D1 is proof that content doesn't mean diddly-squat knowing there was barley any content in D1 vanilla. It was the incentive that kept the gamers interest and no one can argue that. It's doesn't matter if you thought things were "OP" It doesn't matter if gamers complained about not having certain items or couldn't join a team on LFG because of the requirements "must have this, must have that" it doesn't matter If the RNG was rough or not. The fact is, the game had the incentive and motivation to run the repetitive content. D2, tell me where all this loot is that gives gamers the incentive and motivation to run the repetitive content knowing most everything is dismantled in this game and leveling up literally means nothing?

Neither is my poem writing 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought. And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! and through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. "And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" He chortled in his joy. 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the outrage was unforseen by bungo

1 ReplyYou mean this 100% reskin, you’re joking right?????

The game is fun, gunplay is great, the patrol areas are much better (and prettier). The main reason I fell in love with destiny was playing through the raids with friends (Vault of Glass FTW!). I absolutely hate the new raid and have no desire to play it again after running through it once. Most of the mates I play with agree. If I want to play a mechanic heavy puzzle game, I’ll go play portal or something (bad example, but it’s all I got). I want heavy gunplay, survival skills, pure chaos, epic music, and a feeling that it’s the end of the world (with a side of teamwork). I don’t want to shoot buttons or runaround in a bunch of fog being sneaky. Zero fun. Zero desire to play it. Sad :(

3 RepliesI think the game is fun but it gets kind of old pretty fast. The campaign was super underwhelming and bosses were pretty easy. Nothing in the campaign was really memorable or rewarding, and most of the missions felt like they were constructed in the same order where I knew exactly what was going to happen next before it happened.
-
1 ReplyIt definitely should’ve been an improvement from Y3, we complained about vault space and they sorted it out only to -blam!- it up in destiny 2? How does that work. Bungies mantra really is 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards
-
I'm really enjoying the game at the moment, love pretty much everything so far but I've to add I'm really taking my time and playing slow, like really slow and enjoy exploring and finding hidden stuff and then hop-in on a public event and back to do a mission again. I really do not feel the need to rush but I've to add that I've no real interest in the RAID and PvP so I've no reason to rush.. And hopefully when I'm at max level and at end game, Bungie improves the endgame content with stuff so we have a reason keep playing. I've read all the complaints and I agree with them but I don't think it's to hard for them to "fix" it, just increase the power level of gear a little (like to 350 or something) and put RNG on the stats ect. That alone could keep us busy while they improve it even better. But the game is by no means a bad game, so far I love every minute I was able to play it!

D2 is trash compared to year 3. Just like vanilla is. Taking us back to vanilla is trash and I don’t feel bad about saying so. This was my favorite game.

I agree... with the title didn’t read the rest

1 ReplyThere are two major problems creating the toxicity: 1. Kids who think playing thousands of hours of video games makes them experts in game design and development. It does not, as that requires some actual talent plus hard work, that is way beyond the majority of teenagers 2. A new generation of entitled brats has gotten hold of Destiny 2 and is throwing a collective toddler tantrum because it isn't their idea of the perfect game The solution is to develop and market the game towards adults and away from irrational teenagers. This is not 1984. Staging a boycott and forming a revolution against a gaming studio is a complete waste of time
-
Yea, it's not shit at all but the fact that there's not a single incentive to run anything is such a huge letdown. I wanna farm for good shit, my man.
-
I don't see how it could be much worse. Remember D1 is the benchmark here. Is it better than some other games out there? Of course. But also consider it's a AAA title.
-
Agreed. 😁

3 RepliesThis is what happens when your playerbase on the forums is comprised of a bunch of entitled idiots who haven't been gaming very long.
This game is not nearly as bad as this forum makes it out to be!
So is twitter, and reddit also -blam!-ing lying? Nah you just sucking the spit off that shit.
-
Bungie has not always done good with post launch DLC. Either you’re not a true Year 1 player or you have completely forgotten what a joke The Dark Below and House of Wolves was
-
I wouldn't say the game is bad. It's just highly disappointing for someone coming from D1 that played it since launch. It is a sequel to D1 Year 1, not a sequel to D1 Year 3. It is basically a skinner-box gameplay loop, but there is absolutely no effort in trying to mask it. It is a minimum viable product. People were expecting more than the bare minimum for a sequel to a game that has been in constant development for 5 years. I don't like it, there's a bad taste in my mouth. I see these D1 activities, like Archon's forge, PvP choice, Heroic Strikes, Strike specific loot, A robust weapon perk system etc. And I can only think one thing: Bungie could have easily included these in the vanilla D2 game, but chose not to, because they want to include it in future expansions, making it look like they are sympathetic to the community desires, while also having an easier development. Am I paranoid? It's exactly what I would do if I had no conscience or appreciation for the ultimate art form known as Video Games. I want entirely new content, not old content that was purposefully held back to make it so they don't have to innovate as much. I wanted D2 to be like Aliens was to Alien. But instead D2 is the Spiderman 3 to Spiderman. It looks new and fancy, and the graphics are better, but it feels more like a step backwards.

4 RepliesCrota raid is like "The Godfather" (1972) compared to the new raid which would be like "The Emoji Movie".
-
The raid was supposed to be the pinnacle of PvE. With the unnecessary removal of raid perks on weapons it’s nothing more than a waste of time to complete on prestigious and challenge mode.
-
Currently D2 PvP has more people wanting D1 crucible back bc clutches were more likely to happen. I dont hate crucible but it is a let down from D1 when the only thing they needed to do was buff autos, remove flinch and tune the sticky grenades. Destiny is a loot and shoot the multiple rolls of guns in D1 made it harder to get the good rolls adding more reward when you do get it. I remember when I got my go roll Pali and loved it bc the grind paid off also they did have a method of changing gears perks in HoW. When people say destiny is dead they aren't wrong over half the player base left in less time then the other large titles did, even IW kept its player base larger

24 RepliesWhat were people expecting? We have a gorgeous looking game with absolutely next level visual design. Totally solid engine in all regards...it's smooth as a baby's rump Good story, well told, good pacing, cohesive etc.... Lore rich universe Decent fast paced PvP Extra PvE stuff you can do Most games would beg to have all those boxes ticked!! Let alone as well as Bungie have done!! Then consider that content can and will be added to every single one of the categories I have mentioned above. Seriously......what the hell did people want?!? This isn't D1, so stop expecting it to be D1. This is the start of D2. It's a three year game, so just chill out and enjoy killing stuff!

11 RepliesPersonally this “dying game” shit is getting old. I don’t give a fu$k how many people play this game. I don’t give a shit how many players have left or the new ones that start playing. The ONLY thing that matters is do YOU play it. Personally I’m more interested in TWAB then playing the game. I’ve moved on to another game that doesn’t mean shit. Just like others have posted, hundreds of thousands of people still continue to play D2. People just want something to prove THEIR narrative so they look at any number they can find that shows a decline. If you don’t enjoy D2 like I don’t then just move on, if you enjoy the game then play your ass off and have fun doing it. I’m just waiting for the first dlc to come out, I’ll play that for about a week or so then I’ll go back other games. All this “look at the numbers” shit is ridiculous, millions of people have paid for D2 so it doesn’t mean jack shit. Bungie/activision have already made those deposits into the bank. All this griping is fuc&ing worthless. People like me have already bought the season pass so who gives a shit if I play or not? Money has already been paid, since I’ve already paid for the season pass I’ll play the DLC’s when they come out and when I get bored I’ll move on. If the player base drops to ZERO tomorrow, oh well stupid, bungie has ALREADY gotten paid. Nothing you can do at this point will hurt them. Nothing until the next dlc can put a dent into their bottom line $$$. Then, NOTHING you can do until the dlc after that. You can’t pay for something then BOYCOTT or stop playing and think it’s gonna hurt their bottom line. How fu$king stupid do you have to be to not understand this. Here’s to hoping bungie fixes some, most or all of the problems that currently plague this game. So many people were hoping for much more and maybe bungie will deliver more sooner than later. Fingers crossed for the game so many of us love and want to love.

1 ReplyYeah this game sucks #Dabest

1 ReplyStop using y3 D1 as an excuse for why this game is so bad. Im aware D1 was lacking before expanions, but theres no reason this game couldnt be good from the beginning.
