I had an idea for weapons that combined duplicate infusions and overall kills to increase what I called "Weapon Legacy." It is essentially the weapon's level, and as it increases it unlocks new scopes, PvE perks, and unique shaders. Nothing is set in stone here so feel free to make suggestions. I have two slots for random perks (for those who really loved randoms) but I know that Bungie doesn't seem to be leaning in that direction, so take it for what you will. Perhaps when we level up the gun we can earn tokens to re-roll the randoms, encouraging people to stick with the gun.
The weapon level can be increased infinitely and I was thinking that in PvP when it tells you what weapon you were killed with, that player's particular weapon level could be displayed along side its icon. The weapon unlocks complete at level 100, but perhaps every 5 or 10 levels beyond could award some kind of bonus like an engram of various types.
Also, if you were curious about it, I am suggesting that the PvE perks stack with the gun's original perks for super PvE fun times.
Thanks for checking it out!
Edit: A few people asked about the shaders so I'll try to clarify. My idea was that you unlock unique shaders down the road to show off your devotion to the weapon, and you can freely swap between them - overwriting the custom shader if you choose.

Also, sorry for any typos. I slapped it all together pretty quick.
Image updated to fix typo and add "detailed weapon stats" button.
Update: I did something similar with what I'd like to see with subclasses if you're interested. Check it out if that doesn't sound too boring - it may be doomed to burial though. Here is the post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/235997434?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

So much yes.

That's a great idea! Let's hope Bungie actually uses this.

This is a great suggestion and design element. Awesome work. Simple yet effectively beneficial.

-
1 Replyjust what we need, nice touch with the separation for pve & pvp. That would probably solve some headache.
-
Edited by FrenetiCreature: 10/19/2017 3:26:28 AMHeck yeah!! That'd be 10x cooler than what they have now. Have you put your resumé in to Bungie yet? Hey guys, can we get a petition going to get this guy hired on at Bungie?
-
3 RepliesAlso, what’s the weapon legacy? The writing and stuff doesn’t load clear enough in the image :(

5 RepliesEdited by ImOnPlate2Guys: 10/18/2017 7:11:53 PMGreat stuff! I wouldn't call PVE perks "PVE perks", sounds too technical IMO. More like Frontier Bonus/Frontier Fighting, Liberator Trait or Darkness Perk, a lot more abstract but it is the same thing.

Edited by deadly-cause: 10/18/2017 7:24:15 PMBungie should hire you :P you seem to have more creativity then them at the moment lol. I like this concept. Would be great if something similar to this was created but sadly will never be :(.

1 ReplyThis would be bad Ass! Thank you for the write up, I really hope the developers think hard about this one or already have plans to do so

Fantastic

Too bad I just deleted 98% of everything in my fault to keep myself entertained. No guns to really look at, lol

Ffs bungie give this guy a job and loose some of the dead weight
-
Gross, I like the other Reddit guy's idea more.

Edited by ne0m4tr1x: 10/18/2017 6:25:55 PMPlease add a PvP active only upgrade perk for one of the PvE ones. Maybe show that the two PvE perks are disabled ;). Amazing concept. Great looking and keep it up.

Interesting concept - I really like it. But the real question is would Bungie ever put in the effort to write the programing and make game assets to make it happen...
-
This is what destiny 2 should of been like from the start. But nope they gave us the lazy option of having everything static.
-
It would be fine if weapons looked like this or even expanded that... I know it's just concept art and Bungie probably cannot implement it properly but I'm just providing feedback.

If only.... Upvote

Very nice idea. One can only wish it was like this. Definite upvote.
