I had an idea for weapons that combined duplicate infusions and overall kills to increase what I called "Weapon Legacy." It is essentially the weapon's level, and as it increases it unlocks new scopes, PvE perks, and unique shaders. Nothing is set in stone here so feel free to make suggestions. I have two slots for random perks (for those who really loved randoms) but I know that Bungie doesn't seem to be leaning in that direction, so take it for what you will. Perhaps when we level up the gun we can earn tokens to re-roll the randoms, encouraging people to stick with the gun.
The weapon level can be increased infinitely and I was thinking that in PvP when it tells you what weapon you were killed with, that player's particular weapon level could be displayed along side its icon. The weapon unlocks complete at level 100, but perhaps every 5 or 10 levels beyond could award some kind of bonus like an engram of various types.
Also, if you were curious about it, I am suggesting that the PvE perks stack with the gun's original perks for super PvE fun times.
Thanks for checking it out!
Edit: A few people asked about the shaders so I'll try to clarify. My idea was that you unlock unique shaders down the road to show off your devotion to the weapon, and you can freely swap between them - overwriting the custom shader if you choose.

Also, sorry for any typos. I slapped it all together pretty quick.
Image updated to fix typo and add "detailed weapon stats" button.
Update: I did something similar with what I'd like to see with subclasses if you're interested. Check it out if that doesn't sound too boring - it may be doomed to burial though. Here is the post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/235997434?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

16 RepliesEdited by You Stop That: 10/20/2017 5:47:18 AMSince all the Flawless rewards seem to get glow-y effects, what if you could "infuse" a weapon with duplicates, gradually making your gun glow as it consumes more of its fellows? There will be no cap to the glow, so eventually the best players will have weapons that shine with the brilliance of suns and can be effectively used as flashbangs.

1 ReplyWhy aren’t you working for Bungie
-
i love the look of this screen and would love to see this added in maybe season 3? cause i think all the season 2 content is already set up so idk if bungie would want to go and add it for season 2 but really this screen looks great
-
C'mon Bungie this is it,the answer for you already designed, now get your devs on it. And reply to this guy don't be arrogant he deserves it.

1 ReplyYeah this game sucks

Bumping this to showcase a point: it’s not random perks we need necessarily need, but better perks. Bungie needs to stop being afraid of creating another Gjallarhorn. Weapons must be powerful, or it’ll make playing the game completely pointless. They also must be earned, or people will take them for granted. They also must be challenged by offering more challenging modes. They are, right now, easy to get, weak, and provide no means of challenging them. And that’s only part of the issues of the endgame.

I LOVE your idea! Would be a great thing to have in game
-
They should go for a light version of the warframe weapon and mod system ., it also includes a weapon level and mod slots ..
-
Once again you have created another great suggestion. Great work, hopefully something similar will appear in game.
-
Pretty -blam!-ing well thought out and portrayed in the photo. Kudos to you Guardian. That would be so much better than what we have it's actually kind of sad. Someone got paid a lot for an idea that isn't in the same stratosphere as the one you posted.

Edited by TotalDramaGamer: 10/20/2017 5:53:46 AMIt's physically painful to see how good this looks compared to what we have... -- It's like comparing modded Skyrim to plain old Skyrim. (Not that Skyrim isn't f*cking amazing, but you'll never look at base Skyrim the same once you have modded skyrim.)

3 RepliesEdited by deljhpFOREVER: 10/19/2017 9:47:39 AMLook everyone, a player of the game has come up with a logical, in depth and interesting gun menu and progression system. Let's compare it to what a "world class" game studio came up with, after 3 years. Ohhhhh😮

Bumpity bumopity blarp

2 RepliesThat picture of Origin Story made me excited. Hopefully something like that will actually come to be?

1 ReplySome really good ideas. Hopefully Bungie could implement something like this.
-
I really like this.
-
Really love it. Would give me something to play for
-
You're a gift from god man

This is what we need, bungie, if you are going to make static rolls, give us way more perks, shaders, and mods to make the gun customisable
-
I was originally waiting to purchase D2 for PC release, but i'm probably going to wait until they fix the game before I purchase (If I purchase at all) But if they were to implement a weapon system like this I would definitely buy it immediately. I played Destiny 1 for the looter-shooter gameplay and I loved getting new weapons and checking the rolls, as such I am a big proponent for random rolls. Static rolls is the major turn off for me for D2. I could even suffer through the lackluster endgame if I could chase weapons....
-
That's how sad this game is. Bungie has to have other people design the game for them.

Edited by Trill_0012: 10/19/2017 6:57:40 AMAnd you choose the sexiest weapon In the game, bump. Love it.

3 RepliesThe layout looks great. The only thing I would remove is the term “PVE Perks” and let the player choose what best suits him/her in whatever activity they are in. “Player Choice” is huge in an open world/ shared world environment and that term seems a bit “hold my hand-ish” in a way. Other than that, it’s awesome. Keep the great ideas 💡 flowing bud.👍

1 Replyholy crap that looks amazing. That would certainly add some good enjoyment to grinding out weapons rather than just using what's highest light. This could also open the door for the old suggestion ideas of having patrol zone specific perks for certain weapons.

4 RepliesEdited by SnakePayne86: 10/19/2017 10:39:48 AMI don’t know why we can’t just build our own weapons with mods. Scopes, perks, stocks and all that. I’ve been thinking about this game, and I’m afraid it’s just true. It’s unbelievably shallow.
