Like This Post If You Are A D1 Veteran Now Playing D2

Hey, like this post if you are a D1 veteran now playing D2. I am; before the game came out I told myself that I would alternate between the two, but all I've played since September 5 is D2! I love this game, yes there are bugs, but overall its great. Plus, this is a really exciting week with Iron Banner, as well as the Inverted Spire Nightfall ( anything is better than Savathun's Song with anomalies!). Anyways, all you guardians out there who enjoy the game, cheers! EDIT! Listen everybody, I've been catching a lot of crap about this post; people calling me a bungie employee, autistic, and someone with no taste. None of that is even remotely true. I just like the game, and it's fun to make posts like this from time to time and communicate with other people who enjoy it. Now, if you are about to post something about how much you think D2 sucks ( as so many people already have ), please go somewhere else. This post is for people who like the game.

  • I played D1 during the first week of release. Took several breaks from the game as I didn't like certain aspects...PoE, Kings Fall are two prime examples. I wasn't pleased with the direction they took this game with RoI and was fearful that D2 would progress that further. Unfortunately it did. Everything about this franchise has made the game go from more of a time sink hardcore experience to casual. D2 is the culmination of that transition. I still play because playing with friends and clanmates is fun. The gunplay is just as tight as it ever was. And for moments like finishing the arms dealer strike for the Legend of Acrius with 4 seconds left...that moment came close to the feeling of the moment of beating Atheon the first time. That being said, some major changes need to happen to this game to keep the more hardcore audiences' attention. With the system Bungie has implemented into this game, I don't know if those changes can be made to happen however. You can add more guns but then they'd have to be better than Nameless Midnight, Uriels Gift, Curtain Call to get people to stop using those weapons. And then I don't know how you put random rolls back in the game when there are now millions of guns in game with static rolls. Upgrading those guns we get has obviously been long term scrapped, so that's not coming back. With NFs people are now complaining about timers. It adds an artificial feeling of difficulty which some people have succumb to. But the alternatives to making the NF actually harder is really adding ridiculous modifiers, more enemies, more yellow bar enemies and bullet sponge bosses. The community has hated everything Bungie has done to try and make end game activities more difficult with no alternatives. Basically what I'm saying is that D2 is the Destiny we have and will continue to have with no major changes made. And you're either gonna roll with it and still play or get bored and only play the first few weeks of each expansion. If you even decide to get those expansions.

  • Oh I am. And I'm going to go back to D1 until it fixes itself. It's not in an acceptable state for me at the minute.

    • I loved D1, but I honestly feel beatdown with the current state of D2. I love D1, so many memories and conquest with friends. Now my friends don't play. Now it sucks

I can't think of one design decision that has gone well in this game, and it seems from your post neither can you. Nice try. Get back to work and try convincing people in the meeting rooms to stop doing stupid things.

    • Been here since the d1 beta. 2500 hours in d1. I'm already playing other games after just a few weeks of d2.. Don't get me wrong I enjoy d2. But I just don't feel that ( space magic spell) that d1 cast on me. Playing for hours on end for ghorn and red death. Just the whole package.

      • Bungie made 'Halo', which made standard, theater mode, big team battles, energy weapons, vehicle hijacking, controllable air and land vehicles, space battles, community fileshares of maps and variants for private or public games, online four man campaigns, and forge. Activision brought standards like, customizable loadouts and subclass perks, realistic graphics, and weapon modifications. Both companies had stories millions remember generations later. "Soap..." "It's the demon"... Somehow, with those accomplishments in their history, people find a way to defend destiny. Destiny, 3 years of reskinning, reselling and nerfing of day 1 content. Thank you to those who boycotted this newest installment. I know its harder to take a stance than follow a crowd and i comend those of you who stood against this trash and demanded more by using your money to speak, the only language companies comprehend.

        • D2 is as enjoyable as D1. It's just different. The problem so many of the crybabies have is they're just scrubs who can't adapt, so they cry and complain. They think they're hard core gamers but in reality they're hard core complainers. D2 is a great game.

          • @Oryx453 - Dude, you took a stand, and expressed your opinion. By creating a blog, and then asking for replies, you set yourself up as an expert on all things Destiny. People just Luv to disagree with anyone, about anything. What did you expect? With that said, let's be honest! I'm a big Bungie fan, and have been playing Destiny from early release betas, to present. When D1 came out, and Bungie announced their plans for the games life span, I just sat back in awe, and said "you go Bungie". But gaming is about trying to satisfy millions of people from around the world, who are very unique, to say the least. Bungie has been sticking it up both Destiny's, and the Fan's keister's, for quite awhile. Remember, when D1 went from level 20 to level 40. They pulled quite a few tasteless stunts, so the newbies didn't get too stressed out trying to play in an "open-world" with players that had been playing for a year or more already. Some of it I didn't give a "Ratz-Azz" about, but when ALL my exotic weapons & gear instantly became crap, I was rather pissed! I mean really, WTF? I literally turned Destiny off, and played Fallout, GTA, AC, etc. for the next year, but came back just in time for D2. A little advise: "don't screw-over your most committed players, just to accommodate new customers. Look, I love the game, but Bungie just got way too greedy. Now, my thought's on Destiny 2. The intro with Ghaul, was so emotional. My heart broke when the lite went out, and the Guardian & ghost were kicked off the building. I was completely bought back in, but then the little nuances started bothering me. Why did I need to start back at zero, and it seemed to take forever to just get to 20. I like a lot of the new weapons, but feel they do not play consistently all the time. It feels like in the times of greatest need they become weakened, or every time I need my weapons or switch them, I have to reload (again, because I reload with every action I finish). I also think the game looks more cartoonish, and less realistic. The biggest let down was, I'm following a storyline, then swoosh, I'm just racing between public events, and grinding. What happen to the story after you kill Ghaul? Do the other Guardians get their lite? (btw, I'm spelling lite like this on purpose). How long before the game jumps from Lvl20 to Lvl40?. I can't be certain, but it looks like ppl are already cheating the game somehow. I am not a big Crucible fan to begin with, and I really suck at it. It always feels like me weapons are underpowered. Plus, I always find the team where somebody is a lvl15 has a gun that kills anything in 1-shot, plus 3-ppl can be firing on them, hitting with grenades, missiles, Supers, and you can't kill the guy. Oh, and he has his Special at will...like WTF? Yeah, they are just REAL good...Right! Like I said, I'm a big fan. I play 5-6, sometimes 8 hrs a day! But, there are aspects of D2 that can disappoint. It's too early to make a final statement. I wish Bungie would do something for the individual players, so they can play all aspects of the game without having to get "make believe" friends for the Raids, Nightfall's, Iron Banners, etc. It should have match making, or bring a team. Don't force ppl to get involved with strangers! Today that can kill you.

            • I'm a D1 vet who plays D2, and I also love the game. I do recognize the flaws, and hope they are fixed. I understand the criticisms, and in many cases agree. I have 20 coldhearts and NO sweet business 😞. But I still play, still have fun and still enjoy the overall feel of the game. But for goodness sake, gimme the mini-gun already!!

              • I enjoy playing Destiny 2 because of the friendships I’ve been able to make since Destiny was released initially back in 2014. My buddies and I can see the differences in the two games, some good, some not so good, but we understand that Destiny 2 will progress and evolve much like Destiny did. The times we spent on Destiny will always be a great memory, and I know I’m excited to see what the future holds for Destiny 2.

              • D2 is better than D1. Is D2 perfect? No it is far from that. But I see enough changes that I know Bungie is listening to us.

              • Aye I love this game so far... Sure it's got bugs and somewhat lack of endgame content.. but so did D1 at release. I however look forward to all the content that will be added with the DLC as supposedly there will be 3 expansions so lots to come.

                • The game is LARGELY flawed. But it is awesome that you’re having fun with it. Hopefully the salties that must insist that everyone agree with them move on so that you can talk about how much you’re enjoying the game. I personally hope that they fix the stuff I’m unhappy with, or at least give me something to work towards. But otherwise, I like the new game. No it’s not like D1. Otherwise they could’ve just released another d1 expansion, right? The fact is that this is NOT d1. It’s d2. It’s a different game that is cosmetically appealing. Patrols are fun. Just wish I still had a reason to do them and the public events. The strikes are actually fun too. But again, I just wish that I had a reason to do them. I don’t like the powerful gear concept though. That just means you only have about two hours worth of meaningful game time. I wish everything had a chance at giving very slightly higher gear, except the raid. That would give me a reason to do the it. As of right now, I have no reason to. Oh well.

But I would have upvoted this post based on it's misleading title. You've done well to lead so many guardians astray. You are the new Demon of Destiny.
