• Good and shit at the same time. Acting/Actor for Light: Yeah, he did a fine job. Didn't have a copy/paste personality of Light from the anime, in fact, he's hardly anything like Light aside from how he's perceived to be just super smart. And that's fine, it's almost like an entirely different character. The acting is alright, nothing really glaring as an issue with that. Having said that, he's "fine" at most. Throughout the movie, whenever I saw Light, I was hoping for Ryuk (By the way, Willem Dafoe was a great casting for him) or L to come in and make the scene interesting. Acting/Actor for L: Polar opposite with what I said about Light. He emulates so much of how L behaved in the anime. I would normally rat on that kind of stuff, but the actor finds a way to be L and still add more to him. Not only does he do a great job of being L, but his acting in general in the movie was stellar. Acting/Actress for Mia: -blam!- off. Plot: The pacing for this movie and how they go about trying to get in all the important information into this movie seems very forced at times. It's not a huge issue, but eh. They do a good job of putting suspense in the movie. It started to actually feel like Light was gonna get -blam!-ed over at just about any moment during certain scenes. The ending of the movie was...... something. Last 10 minutes of the movie is jarring to me. They set up this huge thing to make you scratch your head and be like "oh, that's really cool", but all it did for me was make me think "why are you this smart now? you weren't -blam!-ing like this earlier... what." and they go through the trouble of setting that up to make you think Light is gonna end up coming out on top... however, they kinda -blam!- that over by adding in an open-ended cutaway at the end to make you think if he dies or not. There's really no win either way. If he dies, that whole -blam!-ing set up was useless, unless the director really needed to push in more of closure with..... the father? Dunno, it's weird and dumb. But if Light lives, the audience is kind of left in the dark on what happens next. Does his dad let him go? Does L start doing shit with the piece of the Death Note? Like.... -blam!-, dude, I wanna know. I give this movie, like, a 6/10. I'd still say it's worth a watch, and I honestly wanna rewatch it, but I can't say it's that good of a movie. I just dig L. Sidenote:
WATARIIIIIIIII NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
• It was good. I expected that they wouldn't be able to fit everything in there.

      • Why doe L crouch all the -blam!-ing time? Why does he always hold things like he's pinching them? Is he autistic or something?

          >Live action anime >American made at that >Even once No thank you. I avoid that like the plague. The Cowboy Bebop show that's supposed to be coming out soon is the only one I'll consider checking out. As much as I don't want to, I might still endure Death Note, if only for the fact Willem Dafoe is in.

          • I haven't watched it, but the majority's opinion seems to be along these lines - Light and L were horribly miscast, but they put a mildly interesting spin on Misa's character and that William Dafoe is -blam!-ing excellent as Ryuk. So, while it's not necessarily 'good,' it's not completely unwatchable, which is a step forward for live-action anime adaptations.

            • I watched part of it yesterday. They certainly accelerated the story. I liked the demon, Ryuk, but didn't really like Light.

If you really liked the anime prepare for disappointment. If you haven't watched it'll probably be ok for you.
