The provided clan name or clan tag is not acceptable, please choose another.
Keep getting this error although it's the same name that our clan was in Destiny 1.
Is this related to some known issue at the moment?
EDIT: I've been able to re-create our clan without using a number in the name or clan tag. Nothing else was changed and removing the number from both the name and tag allowed me to create the clan just fine.

It kept giving me this error until I removed the word "Damn" from the "About us" section. Really Bungie?

1 ReplyI think this error occurs when you guys go in to update the About Us section. For some reason Bungie does not specify that their problem is with text written in that field; for example, I had written "...balls deep" and that is what I had to remove in order to save everything. Certain expressions/words are marked as offensive. Just try looking for a word that you added such as this and remove it. Best of luck, guys.

Same error for me... i did not use any strange or offensive words... i give up for now and i'll try after destiny 2 launch even if i think it's annoying not be able to be ready before.

I just battled through trying to update my clans "About us" section. I kept getting the same message and tried many different things to get it updated. From what I could tell, it's not the number of changes that matter, it's the words you use. Apparently, Bungie is preventing the use of certain words. In my case, it did not allow the words "scream" or "profanity". I guess they are taking extra measures to keep positive attitudes in the community, but that seems a little excessive.

It might not be the name that's the issue. From what i've experienced, the database is very sensitive about creating a clan, this includes the culture field, the motto, etc. By that i mean, the database doesnt like bad words or things it thinks are bad words. At first, I created a clan easy, but ran into issues when i went back and edited the culture field. It kept giving me the same error as you. To finally stop getting the error, i started with the accepted text, and only made a couple changes at a time. I'd change a sentence or 2, then save. If it saved, cool; if it didnt, i'd go back to the last accepted save and reword the new stuff i was trying to say. Hopefully this helps you.

I've tried almost everything as a clan name and none work so I've come to the conclusion that it's an error since Destiny 2 isn't officially released yet and it may be conflicting with it's little brother Destiny 1. So I wouldn't worry just wait a week or two after the game is released and fully playable, then create or edit a clan.

Having read other replies i tried removing my statement and adding one word.....which saved. Tried another word and was advised to wait 4 minutes before i can save anything else. S0 if i am looking at one word every 4 minutes then it is going to be a long night!!! Update: Not sure if it will help but i noticed that if i left it a couple of minutes between each save that a 4 minute timer showed up when i eventually tried to save......not a complete rejection. Once the time limit expired i was able to save a full sentence.

Edited by Darkethena: 8/27/2017 3:13:33 AMBump. Same issues. I am founder yet I have no admin tools and when I use the backdoor link to access admin tools in order to add my clan's deleted motto I get that same error message.
