The weapon system isn't changing

The terms primary, seconday, and heavy are gone. It is kenetic, energy, and power. I know lots of people don't like it but the entire game and the first 2 DLCs have been built around the new system. http://www.inquisitr.com/4281881/destiny-2-new-freedom-weapon-system-explained-by-bungie/amp/ Major changes will not happen anytime soon. Can we please stop beating dead horses?

  • it's sad because recent videos/updates like the EDZ video make the game actually look pretty good. But that weapon loadout system is clearly much weaker than the old one. Watch the 90 minute video, plus the ones that got deleted (obviously you can't watch those anymore) but since I'm guessing many of you saw them, there is no denying that the 2x primary system is inferior.

If it's going to get fixed, it will be because people keep up the feedback.

        • Exactly! People say destiny 2 is destiny 1.5 and yet when changes happen it's "oh actually can we keep that" "no I like the old way". This is why game devs should never listen to the community and just go for ideas and new things cause we are so indecisive. If people stopped thinking of it as 2 primaries and a heavy the issue would be gone. The only problem with the system is that people haven't gotten used to it yet.

            • But it is a 2 primary system. The first 2 slots are filled with primaries so what else can you call it.

              •
Can we please stop beating dead horses?
NOPE! Because it's not too late for Bungie to balance weapons for PvE. And because in September 2019, I don't want the dual primary system in Destiny 3.

                • Thank you! Getting tired of how every fifth post is about this. People are going ape-shit about it while having barely tried it. I personally like the new system. I think it provides more versatility and will make encounters better for the following reasons: 1) Bungie has gated all the extremely high damage weapons by putting them in one slot. No more will players outright avoid engaging in boss-fight mechanics by equipping a special and a heavy that basically do the same damage (a high impact sniper getting precision shots was probably more potential damage than most heavies) and nuking a boss in under a minute or two. People will actually have to do the fights now. Anyone remember when no one could beat Templar after Bungie fixed the exploits because all anyone had done was sit somewhere safe and plink with Icebreaker? Remember how people couldn't beat Skolas in PoE without using Ward of Dawn with Weapons of Light and full Gjallarhorns with a heavy synth waiting? Pepperidge Farms remembers, and it sucked. 2) You will never have to ditch your favorite weapon for something that suits the fight again. The new weapon system allows you to tailor all of your weapon slots to suit whatever your favorite weapon is. Do you LOOOVE this one auto-rifle, but auto-rifles are not optimal for PvE because the range is insufficient to reach a boss and do max damage? No problem, leave that auto-rifle equipped and use it to mow down adds, but put a pulse or scout in the other slot for the boss. Do you love using your favorite scout (dear god I loved Jade Rabbit to the moon and back) but it leaves you very vulnerable to enemies with solar shields who rush you? Put a solar SMG in that second slot and chew through those body-rushing bastards like butter. The weapon classification choice is arbitrary. It isn't like snipers were "meant" to be special weapons. Conceptually, I believe, it makes sense to make players choose ONE ultra-high damage weapon. Bungie clearly didn't anticipate in D1 how quickly players could use the combos of high impact snipers and rocket launchers to down bosses so quickly that they never even played the game Bungie designed for them.

                  • actually primary, "seconday" and heavy aren't in destiny 1 either. We have primary, special, and heavy. Other than that, I agree, Bungie will not change Destiny 2's weapon syatem, regardless.

                      • It's two primaries, calling them kinetic and energy does not change that. If people stop complaining then Bungie will assume that we have accepted the change. That is not the case for a substantial number of people on this forum. None of us have any idea what Bungie may or may not do if sufficient pressure is brought to bear for a change, so I would encourage people to fight on and not give up. The cliche ' Faint heart never won fair lady' springs to mind

                      • I like the fact that this is OP's 3rd (4th or 5th even...) thread trying to defend the new weapon system. OP is (by definition) beating a dead horse, but then asks people not agreeing with him to quit beating dead horses when they tell him why they disagree with him. Irony; I love thee in all of thy forms.

                            • I actually have no problem with the complaints tbh. I don't think just because change won't come fast doesn't mean we should shut up about it. If people took that attitude with everything else in the world, we wouldn't have had the Civil Rights Act passed. Without the constant pressure, there is no incentive to make change. You can tune it out if you'd like, but it doesn't make it wrong. I understand that if any change occurs at all, it'll be at the first TTK-Like DLC, if at all in D2. Which is why I'm standing pat and waiting. But I don't think just because changes won't happen tomorrow doesn't mean that people should simply put the pacifier in their mouth and go on about their business. If people are interested in playing this game, but it's a major roadblock too them enjoying the game, let them voice their opinions. It's an unpopular change. Bungie should be reminded that they screwed up.

                                • Um, no! Year 1 raids had primary elemental weapons and were in the primary weapon slot. There is no difference here other than they relocated them to the slot that used to be occupied by secondary weapons. That does not by definition change what they are, primary weapons with elemental damage. You can attempt to spin the truth however you want to try to justify what Bungie has done to the game. But it's not fooling anyone who has been here since day 1.

I have to disagree somewhat. Exploding shields give elemental more of an identity now but it's still the primary selection which is the problem for many. Elemental or kinetic it's still the same limited weapon types.
