What if your Class... chose you?!

Imagine: For years, a benevolent alien power knew that our planet was going to be invaded by hostile aliens. They aided in the creation of Destiny, supposedly a fun game... but actually a sophisticated training sim for when the invasion comes. On 9-6-17, when we think Destiny 2 will drop? That's when the invasion arrives. As a loyal Destiny player, you have been among those chosen to be empowered as a Guardian. But the catch is, your empowerment is not just based of your playstyle and experience, but also your personality. Do you have the loner nature of a hunter? The cerebral nature of a warlock? Or are you Titan-tough? Note also that you only get one subclass, and it selects you based on who you are. Do you walk in the edge of the darkness, like a Voidwalker? Protect at all cost like a Defender? Or charge into the fray to administer up-close death, like Strikers or Bladedancers? When the apocalypse comes, and find yourself facing it down with double fistfuls of light... what are you? EDIT: Just so we're clear, you can be either a D1 or D2 subclass. Since D2 subclasses are newly discovered, they cannot be customized, so you're stuck with blocks of perks (like in the game).

  •
It did. I demonstrated a knack for concepts dealing with the flow of air over the surfaces of aircraft. This led into research and design projects that focus on improving the precision of ship launched missiles and simulation of zero-g environments for small-scale testing.
My class had two primaries before it was cool and knows how use bayonets. I can't jump, and my helmet filters dust as a super. ---- On a side note, isn't this the theory I said my friend had in year one?
That destiny was a simulation maintained by Rasputin to both prepare us for the real war and to test the effectiveness of different strategies and fireteam arrangements based on the information the warmind had collected up to that point. That loading icons were actually Rasputin recording its assessment of our most recent activities. That dark zones represent a point in the simulation at which different strategies could be implemented and tested. Likewise, dark zone death screens represent an archiving of the failed test run and reset of the simulation. I could go on; his theory covered everything from why enemies spawn consistently to why your character just kind of accepts everything without question.
I'm watching you.

  • Pokémon mystery dungeon did something similar. Asked you some questions and gave you either a starter or pikachu to play as.

    • The scariest thing about this is raids. Imagine, it's the apocalypse. Destiny is real. Everything is happening that happened in game. You're about to go into a raid with your fellow guardians, some of which didn't play the video game. So you have to explain it. The best anyone would be able to do is to make it like the guides online. However, what are the chances of someone reading that guide to you, and then all of your fireteam being able to make it through a raid without wiping? Templar? Atheon? Crota? War priest? Golgy? Sisters? Siege engine? Axis P2? How much of these would a group of experienced people who only know how to play them in theory be able to get through first try? Without dying? Because remember. This would be real life...a wipe would mean you are dead. Just something to think about!

      • Spread the word ... Off topic but... Destiny 1 maps confirmed?? Or redskins I want a much dreary more scary ominous tone even melancholy vive to D2 like for real.. Honestly like it's a game where people dye every second. We need some touch heartwarming tone to the game not all bs action that has not even a base for it being enjoyable if you don't put its counterpart of solemn sadness in a world so torn by destruction and a beautiful past that may never be again. I want missions where I feel emotionally connected to the game with orchestra filling my bones full of nostalgia but not for desiring old maps but what the world in it was. Then filled with the wrath a real guardian would have to want to actually push themselves to be motivated to save the world from destruction.... Allllll lol Ll the trailers have been pushing adventures and fun how about humanity... People aren't always in action or happy we all feel sad now and then. These trailers pushing the games action and fun forget how if it's all fun then non is fun you must balance it with the actual reality that.. Destiny's world is painful its sad and it can be human... And we can actually connect but the developers ha e shoved fun so far up their asses they forget how sadness feels maybe it's their millions or their greed that lends them to not see that living life is sad and so is in destiny. I'm not saying make it all boring sad I'm saying balance is what will make the game come alive and not just have a forgetful history such as of vanilla. Make destiny great. Not again just Idk kill cade off -blam!- it kill of the speaker.. Just make it right and make it have a reasons let those who invested over 2000 plus and I know it's plus hours actually come to a point where they drop the control and feel actual sadness.. Sadly bungie aren't great story tellers or will they be Idk d2 isn't out I just hope they aren't just plain old everyday sensationalists because that's not art that's just shit on a stick. Fun until you realize it's actually shit. Give destiny life...

Forgive me for not reading your post, your title was good enough to make me wanna reply. I was actually thinking that same idea yesterday evening. I've been a Warlock main since release because, space magic...duh. But I've always been, given my lifelong traits of standing up for others, volunteering first, and using my fists for both fighting and love making, that if my class chose me, I would be a Titan. With the D2 Beta I began to enjoy the Titan more than my Warlock. I will most likely level a Warlock first though, then Titan. Space magic still has a hold on me. Edit: read the post, thanks for it!

        • As much as I would like to say Hunter - the self-reliant badass who's superior speed, skill, and guile allow him to outmaneuver and outwit stronger, smarter opponents (and do it in style) is my particular power fantasy... But honestly, if it was the class that chose me instead of the other way around, I would probably end up a warlock - my actual strength lies more in my intellect than my finesse, and certainly more than my physique. Most likely Voidwalker, as I feel a stronger connection to the dark of the void than the radiance of the sun or the fury of the storm. (What can I say? I have a goth streak.)

        • I would end up as a Hunter just cause I'm too batshit for any team-based class.

            • Technically im a bit of all three classes and a bit of voidwalker but I think my loner wolf nature would make me a hunter and since I walk the path of light and dark I think I'd be a night stalker.

            • Cool concept, but a lot of people wouldn't like it. It takes away what little choices we have in character creation. I'd give that concept a go, though.
