1 ReplyOkay but why even give our guardians a voice in the first place if they were not going to continue dialogue that doesn't include screams and "ughs" when getting killed. Just scrap the existence of the guardian, give our ghost a gun, and go from there.
-
7 RepliesWell I think it's kinda fitting since pve players don't have a voice to advocate for them why would our guardians?
-
8 RepliesZavala: Hey guardian how you doing? Ghost: He's fine
-
6 RepliesI assume they spent that much on Nolan that they want to get their money's worth out of him. Having the ghost speak for us is one way of doing that. Just my opinion.
-
Lol at you
-
5 RepliesBecause it doesn't really matter lol. You want a voiced character then go play SINGLE Player games
-
3 RepliesIts the silent protagonist idea. If they did it gives the character a personality that might not aline with the player. Its like playing halo multiplayer vs overwatch multipler. In halo your a silent spartan so you get the feeling that you're the one racking up kills and medals. In overwatch you play as other people with voices, personalities, and back stories. Any accomplishments feel like go to them rather than you.

I prefer it that way tbh

4 RepliesEdited by Holaire of Asstora: 7/29/2017 9:48:10 AMI liked how they did the dialogue in vanilla D1. Your guardian talked, but not too much... In my opinion, it made the guardian a bit more... mysterious? I dunno, I hate words. I feel like the Guardian's dialogue should be minimal, but also make enough of an impact in each cutscene and enough to give the Guardian some sort of personality. I can agree with others that the Ghost speaking for the Guardian is kinda lame, I don't like it myself. I also enjoyed Dinklebot more than Nolanbot. While I love Nolan North and his voice acting, what they did with his voice just doesn't fit in the Destiny universe to me. Dinklage made it more real with his toned down voice, in a world where aliens and monsters have all but taken over. I've seen a couple people in this thread suggesting dialogue options, but that would feel off to me. When I think dialogue options, especially personality based, I think of Bioware. While that kind of dialogue isn't Bioware exclusive, it's what they use a lot and it fits with their games. To me, Destiny is a game like no other; the first time I played D1 was so great, but of course the sense of wonder died down after a while. Some might argue that it's like Halo, but I don't feel that way at all... It just feels like a completely different experience from Halo. Hopefully, they were holding a lot more back during the Beta than I feel. Hopefully they spin more of a story with the Guardian being more involved than ever. I'm looking forward to D2, and I can't wait to feel that sense of wonder I felt when I first played D1. Sorta strayed a bit off topic, but whatever, I'm not here to be a crowd pleaser.

I honestly don't mind that we are silent, i am concerned over a couple other things.
-
I find this weird, though. Didn't they also say they had some sort of dialogue system set up for Destiny 2? For interacting with NPCs like that sniper you do a quest for or something like that? Can't really wrap my head around how that would work with mute Guardians. Unless it works like Skyrim's system, which incidentally feels weird to me.

37 RepliesSilent protagonists are cooler, you never get a good character when they talk and have lines
-
Makes my guardian feel like an errand boy.
-
Bc they stole be in my opinion.

My current exo is salty that he cant use last word anymore and that he gon die, and be replaced with a human

6 RepliesEdited by MetDiamond263: 7/29/2017 1:15:30 PMTo me personally I don't like silent protagonists. I look at it as the story of destiny should be about us. If the story of destiny 2 is about us loosing our light, I don't wanna experience it vicariously through the npc's no matter how good an actor they may be. I don't think we should talk reams of dialogue, but nothing at all feels hollow and separates me from the immersion. For example; We are THE guardian, we slayed all those gods and Saladin made us an iron lord. So far we are a macguffin in our own story. Exsistential threat arrives invincible hero destroys threat. So are we a neo in this story, the chosen one, whatever ? So why doesn't s it matter to me as a guardian in game ? Cause right now this is the biggest miss in the story for me. My guardian is mute, emotionless, and inconsequential in my own story.
-
Yep i wish they talked more as some points of dialogue from the game seems a bit strange in how your ghost would answer and the guardian didn't. Also no other ghost communicates for their guardian but ours. Why?
-
16 RepliesProbably because in 3 years of D1, no one cared that our guardians didn't talk until about 4 days ago.

I hope you are one of those guys, that completely loses it when a punctuation mark is out of place in news articles. Because you definitely fall into the category of making mountains out of mole hills.

WRRRYYYY

9 Repliesmaybe I don't understand something. What would our character talking add to the story. The whole silent main character thing works for other games like zelda or metroid, so i really don't see how this is any different.
