All SBMM does is cause problems. REMOVE IT
EDIT: Thanks for your opinions everyone, and to clarify i don't care about pubstomping, i do pubstomp regardless of the matchmaking settings. I just wanna play players in my continent instead of the laggy guy from Europe or South America, is that too much to ask for?

20 RepliesEdited by Forgotten: 5/15/2017 6:35:58 PMI love how people bring up SBMM and CBMM. No one mentions the option of Regional vs World wide matchmaking. W/e let the ignorant be ignorant, seems the desire for knowledge is not there. EDIT: I like how this post has gotten more traffic than the original post. Fwuking Edgy bro.

6 RepliesI wholeheartedly disagree. If you have ever played a pvp game without skill based matchmaking you would realize that matches are horribly imbalanced and more than half the matches one team never even had a chance from the moment the match started. If Destiny didn't have SBMM for just 2 days everyone would notice because the amount of mercy ruled games that would happen would go way up. Then everyone would be on the forums complaining how matches only ever last 3 minutes before getting called Shax. That's not to say connection quality should't be factored in. You need to have both to enjoy a match. But you can't clamor for the removal of SBMM just because every so often one player in a match had a weak connection so it made it harder to engage them. You have to look at the big picture. Something to think about

8 RepliesTwo playlists. One ranked with special drops that includes some form of sbmm. One unranked with no tracking of player stats, regular drops, and make it connection based. Also throw in optional regional matchmaking for both playlists. Problem solved.

What if there was a Ranked version of crucible and an unranked version of crucible?
-
20 RepliesThey already did.
Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching.
https://www.bungie.net/ar/Forums/Post/219219114?sort=0&page=0 Glad we sorted that out.

5 RepliesDisagree. As a normal player I like sbmm. If they get rid of it I guarantee I won't play. I have kids, work, etc. I'm not a pro gamer, nor am I young. Pro gaming is for high school and college kids. Not for me.

83 RepliesEdited by Abrrinacave: 5/13/2017 12:10:30 AMWhy? So you can pubstomp? Hell no You should play with people of your skill level. Period.
I love how its always people with over a 1.3 K/D that complain about SBMM.
Well it doesn't cause me any problems. In fact I've never actually had to many problems with lag in destiny, less than other games at least.
-
1 ReplyThey should have SBMM and a non SBMM. If they had both then everyone would be happy. I've had friends talk about having a ranked and non ranked matchmaking, I think that'd help both sides.
-
Need 2 seperate playlists. Ranked = SBMM Casual = no SBMM

11 RepliesEdited by Oddish43: 5/14/2017 8:57:52 PMObviously, you're a good player, looking for cupcakes to stomp. And it might never occur to you that said cupcakes will LEAVE THE FRICKIN' GAME if we keep losing over and over. Exactly. In the long run, SBMM is as good for you as it is for us. Disliked. Not signed.

1 ReplyEdited by Elden Lord Archon: 5/14/2017 9:32:23 PMSigned. Not only does it create lag, but I also miss the days of not knowing whether the next game will be full of sweaty tryhards or delicious noobs.

1 ReplyWell, maybe something can be figured out. I have way too many nightmares from my time in peer to peer servers (I think Gary Oldman was in one of those nightmares), but you're right on the widespread player bases. Maybe they can do what Respawn did, and use region servers or whatever it's called. I don't know, I'm not at all experienced in tech stuff, but I live in the woods with an iffy Verizon hotspot in my phone, and Titanfall 2 still ran pretty good. Destiny too, usually, although this IB has been rather chaotic concerning the hit registration...

1 ReplyPvP connections are complicated, there are so many variables. There is no magic fix in networking and weird things happen all the time. Hard to make it perfect for everyone. That said, a close game is always more fun than a massacre, especially if you're on the receiving end of the pounding ;) Where do you live? Distance does matter, a lot. Why are you being connected to Europeans and South Americans? Maybe you're so awesome MM keeps searching all over the globe to find a decent match XD We're in Hawaii and we seem to connect almost exclusively with other islanders (GT gives it away... 808, aloha, Maui grown, etc.) which is a much smaller pool than the mainland pool of players and I'm pretty sure we don't all have the same skill level. We have some good games and some not so great ones. Next is California but we've seldom met players from other states or foreign countries other than Canada. Location and connection seem to be a priority in Destiny. We've had much better luck with Destiny than any other online games and a good balance between SBMM and connection. Halo is by far the absolute worse (count to five before a grenade leaves your hand), dedicated servers are great except doubtful there will ever be one nearby for us. Just my two cents, with Aloha :) BTW, the US is not even in the top ten fastest internet average speeds. South America is pretty slow but most European countries have good speeds. Distance will kill that though.

2 Repliesshut crybaby. all you want is to pubstomp scrubs and when you face other good players you get nae naed.

7 RepliesI get what people are saying about SBMM - connection, makes you play better when you play against higher skilled players etc. But if we have dedicated servers and there is no lag would SBMM be ok? Soccer leagues around the world are a form of SBMM, when you win your division you move up. When you lose you move down. Or would it be better to pit a local club team against Real Madrid because they both are in the same area?
-
2 Replies
All SBMM does is cause problems. REMOVE IT
Maybe for players who can't compete. But with dedicated servers I'm almost certain the game would be fine with SBMM. Even better, ranked and social playlists.
-
9 RepliesLol idc if there is sbmm or not. There better be dedicated servers. I can guarantee PC will have dedicated servers.
