Knowing that nothing is worth grinding and playing for has taken away a lot of my interest I must say.
Normally I would be drooling over every image, counting the days to new content.
But the announcement that nothing carries over in a few months time, makes it all pretty pointless outside of a few days of fun playing, right?
Have they shot themselves in the year 3 foot?

3 RepliesI'm sorry dear, but everything you do in call of duty is pointless, same with battlefield, the new zelda game as well as overwatch. You play them for fun, not to gain anything but good memories. Play the game for fun or not at all, your life will be better for it.
-
1 ReplyExactly. Why grind for obsolete legacy gear that no one will ever use once Destiny 2 is out. Who will ever come back to D1?
-
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
-
It's the same in 99% of games, isn't it? Just because my progress from (insert game title here) doesn't carry over to the next game doesn't mean it's pointless to play that game, because then basically every game in existence would be pointless. I'm sorry I like to play games for fun and to keep myself occupied like most others here, we won't just drop a game because stuff won't carry over.
-
The point of this isn't to grind out full sets, it's to enjoy old stuff at current light, and have actual use for what you get. No need to grind destiny anymore, but if you still enjoy playing, more of the game is relevant

Running a solar strike with the classic vex is reason enough. Running a arc strike with fate bringer is reason enough. Having a 400 necro would be interesting. This should've been done awhile back. As a farewell to destiny pve weapons should go back to y1 and just going ham on everything.

Doesn't seem pointless to me. I didn't think it was pointless when World of WarCraft did the exact same thing every expansion - made everything you had collected previously pointless and overshadowed/made obsolete. Also didn't think that in GW or Diablo 2 to Diablo 3. People are harping too much on this. Bungie delayed Destiny II because they were basically "starting fresh" while continuing the vague story from this first installment. They don't want to overhaul all the weapons and gear we have in to the new engine from the old engine and I can understand why they don't want to, for the same reason that no Borderlands game ever did that. That's a lot of tedious work that would only end up delaying the game further and further. There's still going to be about 5-6 months of time to play Destiny I and have fun with this Age of Triumph event. Most people including myself already knew that it was highly unlikely that everything on our Characters would carry over - I wasn't even expecting my Character(s) to carry over, but they are.

It's all been pointless all along!!! Every single update except HoW made all prior items and activities obsolete!!!!
-
7 RepliesGo take everyone like you, and your, nihilism away. I'd rather play some of my favorite content and get relevant rewards for doing so again than not.
-
Excellent point.
-
They will get wrecked on VOG because of all the nerfs!!!!!
-
If you weren't playing yo have fun then you shouldn't have been playing at all.
-
But it's just entertainment for the majority of people, can't you just play to have fun?
-
Sweet sweet loot and when D2 comes out, guess what, more sweet sweet loot. And the fun factor of getting the sweet sweet loot
-
If you enjoy yourself it's not pointless because the point of playing video games is to enjoy yourself.
-
It was all pointless starting in September 2014. It's a video game.
-
2 RepliesHate to tell you ... All games are pointless. Simply entertainment with fake rewards ...
-
It's a video game. There is never any point to a video game other than fun.
-
1 ReplyYes it is, might be some fun to be had though. I am down for some raids, old boys back together for one last hurrah. Be fun :)
-
2 RepliesYeah it's super pointless. Unless you want a discount on a shirt
-
2 RepliesZen proverb: Life is like getting on ship that is about to head out to sea....and sink. Meaning? If you're looking for something "enduring" or a "destination" (Making it!!). Then life is "pointless" and will disappoint your. If you simply understand that the "point" isn't some accomplishment or some destination....but to simply enjoy the experience....It can be wonderful. If you're playing a game for any reason other than FUN (unless you are earning your living by playing) then YOU"VE missed the "point".

2 RepliesIt's still fun to have Fatebringer and VoC back in your hands. To play those old raids with your friends and relive old memories. Plus they're adding new challenges and gear, so it's something to do that's different than repeating what we have for the rest of the year.
-
12 Repliesby that mentality its pointless to continue to live because when you die, nothing goes with you... thats just a depressing thought.. enjoy the journey, forget the destination.
-
1 ReplyI've just discovered that no matter what I do in this life, nothing carries over into any future incarnations I think I'm just going to lie in my bed in my own filth until I slowly waste away
-
8 RepliesFor you maybe, going by your grimoire you don't really raid anyway so you probably don't have that attachment to the old gear that I do. Fatebringer is the king of handcanons, vision is king of scouts, found verdict is the king of shotguns. These weapons and the content that came with it is nostalgic and reminds you how good this game really is. Its a great way to round out our experience of the last 3 years and gives us new found enjoyment of older content with new things thrown in for the kicks. Ultimately if you don't like fun then this is not for you lol.
-
Its about the journey, not the destination. The only reason you should ever play a game is to enjoy yourself. You don't initially play a game in order to beat it and see the ending. You play it and continue to play it because it's fun. Otherwise, what's the point? If the new update doesn't do anything for me in terms of fun, I won't be playing it. Once a game stops being enjoyable, it's time to move on (and to start skulking the forums ;)). Destiny shouldn't be any different in that regard. If bungie allowed us to transfer everything we've ever acquired to the sequel, it would be the first game in history to do so. Look forward to our new journey. Don't live in the past. Its going to be fun with or without our old gear.
