PvP players are turning this into a so called "Competitive" game by complaining and whining that weapons need to be nerfed to achieve balance. this just is ridiculous as this is a looter game not a MLG FPS.

  • Division is a looter. Nioh is a looter. Destiny barely qualifies as an RPG, much less a looter.

  • Bungie described Destiny as an FPS with MMO qualities. So simply calling this game a "looter" might be a little over dramatic. This game was never designed to give more attention to PVE or PVP, but sadly when you get down to the fine details, PVP requires balance for skill based success and PVE requires an un-balanced system to make the constant farming feel rewarding. They are two entirely different gaming experiences with entirely different gameplay approaches. It's easy to blame the balancing issues on PVP players "nerf it" attitudes (which is clearly the wrong approach to achieve a balanced crucible), but in reality, the system has been flawed since the beginning, it just took a while to reach a point of utter ridiculousness. Plus if you think that this new hotbox only hurt the PVE players, you are dead wrong. Since the update, over 100,000 players have stopped playing Destiny. My clan (over 160 members) has pretty much become inactive in a mere 2 week timespan and we are/were a mixed clan of both PVE and PVP players. What pisses me off is that Bungie is trying to solve it's nerf problems with even more nerfs- this time to the NLB and Sidearms- and bringing back the health regen, but I think we all know this this is just putting a band-aid on a festering bullet wound. As far as I'm concerned, fun Destiny is done for and the best we can hope for is a better Destiny 2.

  • I'm calling it a looter because the purpose is to get loot until you hit a cap, does CoD require you to collect loot which actually effects the game?? No because that is an FPS only game destiny is more of a FPS/looter hybrid so it's not a game which can focus on competitive PvP as the different loadout combinations will never allow for balance.

  •
...it's not a game which can focus on competitive PvP as the different loadout combinations will never allow for balance.
You are right, but this is simply because PVP and PVE share the same balance system. Fact of the matter is, PVP is a BIG part of Destiny and ToO specifically is a crucible game that is all about putting your FPS skill to the test and doing so is impossible without a proper weapons balance. In conclusion, as long as PVP and PVE share the same balance system, neither group of players will ever be satisfied. Hence, the system was flawed from the beginning .

  • Exactly my point is they need to have a load out system similar to every other FPS and separate PvP and PvE if they want a balanced game. If D2 keeps this same type of system then it wouldn't be bad but this game won't be competitive to the standards of Halo, CoD or Overwatch which it needs if it wants to succeed in the FPS market.

  • I agree with you. This game can never have a truly competitive arena because there is no gun standardisation.

The only mode Bungie supports is PVP which equates to ToO. However it's so broken. If your not playing a streamer it's the ELO farmers that play and win the first 3 matches and start over again. Bungie had a good concept for a PVE game and someone decided to drop that and change to a PVP game midway through. I play some with the few friends that still play, but we usually leave questioning why we play and take a little longer to get up the fortitude to try again. Pretty soon I don't think we will even have the desire to login.

  • Yep I made a post today stating this exact mentality. There was a focus on pve in year 1 and it was fun, now the only people having fun are those who like Trials and pvp.

  • If this game is to be fun in the sequel then set classes and sperated modes are needed
