Take a break
I am 100% sure that this topic will be lost in the forum page, but nonetheless, i feel obligated to write it anyway. I am not a well known individual or anything like that, as a matter of fact; i am nothing more than a mere casual who enjoys Destiny. What i am here for is a small and friendly reminder to all of my guardian fellows who might stumble upon this thread: TAKE A BREAK. Seriously, take a break from the game. Do not burn your self out. I've played this game religiously for the past 3 years and oh my god do i regret it. My combined 28 days total game play can vouch for my addiction (there were time when i couldnt play) but now i look back at this passion and think "how did i play this?" Please, do not make the same mistake as me and burn yourself out. Take a break, try a different game for a few hours, dont grind for anything in the game, the less you grind for something in the game, the more you'll enjoy the game overall.
Please fellow guardians, dont burn yourselves out, and may the traveler's light guide you towards victory.

I see people with 4x+ the amount of hours that I've put in and it boggles my mind. I would have gone insane long ago playing the same content for hours on end like that. I feel as if I almost lost my mind just playing th amount of time that I did lol destiny is fun, but I can't play anything that much, except maybe halo pvp. These last couple of weeks I've pretty much did my nightfalls, and and nothing else. I got my icebreaker last reset, so I literally have no other reason to play anymore lol. I've done everything that I care to do.

I've been playing since day 1 and all I want to do is go flawless and then I'm done with the game. If Destiny didn't have such shitty pvp connection (teleporting, shooting through walls, etc.) and lack of skill based matchmaking, I would've been flawless in year 1. I'm not even bad at trials either believe it or not. Going to the lighthouse literally represents like half of the grimoire I still need to get too.

I play Halo 5 when I get burned out, or I just go write honestly, and play some guitar.

If you still put in the time we used to than you are completely oblivious to the FACT that there are better games out now and you do not mind being completely ripped off compared to what other games are offering. The -blam!-ing lag alone is the worst I've ever seen in a game since dial up modems.

1 ReplyHorizon Zero Dawn, new mass effect - I think we will have plenty of nice distractions tbh. Destiny is a great shared experience though which is why players keep coming back again & again. Bungie have struck gold with this title, which is why I find it difficult to understand their reluctance to share anything relating to D2 (unless it is in a very early pre alpha state/constant state of flux) - come on generate a little hype Bungie! it would make these forums come alive!!

That's why I'm taking a break right now. I've burned out. I didn't even play IB. Right now I'm focusing on getting other stuff done. :)

I agree. Ive been taking a break the last couple weeks now. Playing a lot of FF15 and a few other other gems. Last time I played I recieved my icebreaker and just wanted to give pvp a try. Basically that match was the straw that broke the camels back and I pretty much said fück it. Ill come back eventually, and I check the forums occasionally to see if anything is going on though.

Thanks for the advice. I have played twice as long as any other game I've enjoyed. I still don't feel burned out or enticed by a superior game. I've logged 20weeks. At this point I'm thinking the disc is welded into the ps4 and may only be prized out when D2 arrives.

I agree! I think one of the only reasons I'm still a big fan of Destiny is because I play other stuff too. Titanfall 2, Uncharted, FFXV etc. BUT, I do still grind. Every now and then I go on a tangent trying to obtain my Jade Rabbit. It's the only exotic I don't have. Plus I heart IB. The raw carnage and overwhelming anger it brings really speaks to narcissistic gamers like me. Nothing strokes and/or destroys my ego like IB. I'm super addicted to it. Anyhoo... I think if we all stepped back from time to time, we will remember why we fell in love in the first place.

5 RepliesI quit playing vanilla Destiny a month after release and didn't pick the game up again until a few months after TTK came out. I currently have 32+ days of play time.. I do agree though that you shouldn't get burned out. I will play Overwatch or Titanfall to keep things fresh and to avoid raging too hard.
