Why would someone do a strike, at all, if they are sick and tired of the actual gameplay? If one has played so much that one can't bear to play all the steps created by the game-maker, then wouldn't they have all the loot connected with the strikes? It would be so inconsiderate if it didn't teleport the remaining characters to front-runner's position. I usually turn back to where I was pulled from when that happens. I enjoy shooting the guns I earn, both exotic and legendary, the endgame rewards, etc. and it only takes like 5 more minutes on the entire strike; time that would otherwise be spent in matchmaking/orbit.
Oh, I'm not talking about the actual speed in which a strike is done; fast is fine. I'm talking about when the impatience of one person affects the 2 players that are enjoying the game (for points, loot, bounties, whatever the reason)
Edit- some are having a super dif time realizing my issue is with skipping gameplay content; not how fast you go. Any questions about what I really mean then just do this week's NF SUNRISE bounty at the wretched eye. Cayde will personally tell you when it's cool to run ahead. The barriers will tell ya when to stop.
Edit, 1/12- I've got a NF Sunrise lfg up at the moment. These 2 slots are for two people who want to show that their way is the better way. Not in an obnoxious, troll kinda way but an actual "see, isn't this just more fun" kinda way

I would so take you up on ur challenge to speed run the nightfall, and still get the bounty done. I usually can speed run a nightfall in 10-12 min and always get gold. But I'm on ps4

Because we are there to get keys, nothing else! And guess what, keys drop at the boss. What a dumbass

1 ReplyIll do it every time. No questions asked. Get over it.

4 RepliesWho cares? If it's such an issue, play only with your friends and not randoms.
Because, friend, the gameplay of destiny is shit. It's the same shit no matter where you go or who you fight, and some people are completionists, others just want to get their money's worth in a shitty game that doesn't deserve it. People just want the loot, but want to leave out the shitty gameplay that got old 3 years ago and should've died months after.
No, you dolt, a completely defiant and actively anti-progressive player doesn't add 5 minutes to the missions run time, it adds 10 and subtracts a nameless boring meat sack from shooting at the boss. It doesn't matter how much you like to shoot the guns or whatever, they all feel the same anyways.
Oh, I'm not talking about the actual speed in which a strike is done; fast is fine. Just kinda obvious.

I skip strikes because adds are boring and trying to speedrun them is fun, especially echo chamber.
just a side note, if they added year 1 rares back to potential rare engram drops i would probably stop skipping adds.
I personally do not have an issue with players running ahead straight to the boss. If that's the way they want to play the game, up to them. Carry on and good for you. What does bug me is the way some of these players (not all) reach the boss and then deliberately die in order to force the other two to the boss area. If they can't defeat the boss solo, don't run ahead. Simple. Don't expect people to help you if you are going to be an arse and force your methodology onto other players. I realise that some may try to tell me to not dictate the way they play the game. Yes, indeed. But that argument works both ways.
-
1 ReplyEither put barriers so you can't skip, a better incentive to kill ads or teleport em back with the team after going so far. I'll stop skipping and dragging people to the end if any of that happened.
-
1 ReplyYou also have to look at it from the other side of the coin, they probably have a booster on and want to make the most of it, or they simply hate the strike and want to get it over and done with as quickly as possible
-
1 ReplyEdited by SmashvilleViking: 1/13/2017 10:53:39 AMI run the strike at the pace of the other 2 people. If 1 runs ahead, I'll stay back and wait for the 3rd person (in case they need a res). If they both run ahead, then I'll follow. I could run ahead, or stay behind, but I try to be courteous to everyone in the strike

The fastest path to the loot at the end (exotic chance, treasure chest) is skipping as many of the trash enemies as possible. I don't always do it, but I do sometimes and a fully understand why people do it. Simple fix would be if your strike point score actually meant something. As of now, it's just a number with no value attached to it. If they incentivized killing enemies and racking up points like Challenge of Elders did, this issue would not exist.

1.Join with a fire team, If my saying behind and it look like I'm just running around I'm doing those new crazy hard bounties. If that bothers you quit or keep going. Sorry 2. If you've(me) done that strike 3x most player will quit, im going to speed run. If you don't want to speed run turn your mic and I'll gladly slow down for you (not if you are going to be an ass about it). 3. Blame bungie

2 RepliesDid a heroic strike today, just one. It was echo chamber. I continued to grab every relic, used vanish in smoke, and made it to the boss in roughly 3-5 minutes. Killed the boss, got my weekly loot box and left. If you don't like the way randoms play, don't play with randoms.
-
3 RepliesIt the way the strikes are set up many want to grind the chests so will do it in the fastest way possible. Unless Bungie set strikes up properly with permissives to unlock next section or make the end boss appear only after all the previous enemies are killed (which would never happen due to the massive crying that it would cause) many will continue to skip sections or speed run them.

3 RepliesEdited by Dredgen Dread: 1/13/2017 8:46:29 AMIt's called 3oC farming... Or rather exotic farming via 3oC.
-
5 RepliesIf you want to relax, take your time, and be slow, do some patrols. Stop holding up your fireteam for no reason.
-
1 ReplyDestiny is a looter shooter. Skipping stuff in a strike is a quicker way to get loot. That is all.
-
I kill only the stuff in the strike areas. If I see someone wasting time out in the patrol area I just leave them behind. Also skipping sounds cool on paper but in practice just gets you killed a lot. Especially in the shrieker room in dark blade strike. Also skipping enemies with strike scoring active is just kinda pointless. Like there is no time bonus like in nightfalls so just chill a bit we'll get to the boss in like 5 minutes anyways. Like the only enemies I see reasonable enough to skip is like the one missile silo in the kovik strike that has enemies in it but no siva node to destroy. They are guarding anything so why bother?
-
5 RepliesYou can't be that stupid. I play the strike like I want, not how you want. Most of those strikes are boring and filled with cancerous bullet sponges with only one or two exceptions and the only thing I care about them are the skeleton keys, so why ffs should I bother how you feel about my playstyle?
-
13 RepliesFighting bosses is more fun, more challenging, and more (potentially) rewarding than slogging through countless ads. Sure, I like blasting ads in the face, but sometimes you just want to get to the best part of the strike. Or sometimes you are farming exotics or skeleton keys. Or maybe you're trying to run through to get your weekly treasure. There are plenty of reasons to run through to the boss fight. But if none of those reasons suit you, play as you'd like, maybe use LFG to find a fireteam of like-minded players who would like to share the same gameplay experience as you.
-
1 ReplyStopping to kill adds that endlessly respawn, and are in patrol and not part of the strike is "skipping the strike". Skipping the ads that you can kill at anytime you'd like in patrol is playing the strike.

4 RepliesEdited by ItzCharlie: 1/13/2017 7:29:52 AMI've been one who's done this many a time, though it's not with the intentions of ruining anyone's experience. If the other two players are struggling, I'll usually do my own thing and speed through the strikes. I'm here for a good time, not a long time. You usually get a vibe on how your team wants to run the strikes after the first one. If it's not what you want, finish the strike and get a new fireteam. Simple Also, just checked some stats of my own and I've run well over 100,000+ strikes since Destiny's release. Some people would easily have two, three or four times that amount. I can understand why they might want to speed run every strike to get to the loot quicker, and I don't blame them.

5 RepliesEdited by GuillesDNeyes: 1/12/2017 5:39:35 PMJust wish matchmaking could be turned off so everyone has the option to go alone if they wanna spend the time to kill absolutely every-single-thing like they're on patrols. If I run ahead past a patrol area and f*k up I'm sorry, if I clear the room, you're welcome ;) My matchmaking strike etiquette: I adapt to the team, if they wanna speed run that's fine, if they're taking their time, that's fine too. However, I may run ahead and start clearing but I never leave anyone behind, if they fall, I'll come back for the rez. I try my best not to block shots. If there's no room for me, I find another vantage point. I don't initiate the strike boss until we're all there. oh & I also wait for the team before opening ammo crates... freaking hate impatient greedy people that open it themselves.

Edited by OverHere: 1/13/2017 6:26:41 AMI don't give two shits either way. Rush ahead or take your time. I understand both sides of the argument. People who rush - This is their 1000th time running this strike and they just want to get to their loot. They may also have a vanguard booster on. Less time spent on the strike is more strikes you can complete with the booster which gets you more rep which translates into more loot. People who kill everything - They're completing bounties, testing out new weapons, farming engrams. Maybe they're new to the game or the strike and are familiarizing themselves with it. I see both sides and could care less what kind of a player you are. Unless you form your own fireteam though, you've no right to tell anyone how to play their game. Get salty about it in the forums all you want but it's not changing anything.
-
5 RepliesIt makes me even more angry when you get those impatient assholes who run ahead and intentionally die to pull everyone forward because they dont like the speed of the group. Im just like, its not like i wanted my super or anything.
