Let's Talk About Titans

Hello Community. Nice to see you, I wish I wouldn't have to make a post like this. Let's talk about Titans. Wait no, let them speak for themselves. Titans are the class which gets every super the fastest. They have the fastest melee of all classes, and one of them also do the most damage. (Besides back stab) They might have dinosaur arms, but they teleport when they melee because they aren't supposed to have the range that they do. Everyone who plays pvp more than casually will notice the quick hop back and forth when getting meleed by a Titan when at close range. Let's bring up how fist of havoc has only been getting buffed since year one. Not only does it have infinite y-axis damage, but it has a way bigger radius of damage than it should. I find myself getting killed through walls by fist of havoc more than the multi tool. Lightning grenades are still completely broken when it comes to damage range and damage cone. They kill more than sticky grenades. Wait for it though, a Titan who has force barrier can take a sniper shot to the head. Not only does a sniper not do enough damage to kill the Titan, but it barely gets rid of the shield and it makes the bullet itself do less damage. This is without light level advantages. I have a clip of me hitting a headshot with 1k yd stare and getting 191 damage. Now let's talk about how the warlock and hunter classes have been continually getting shat on while the Titan remains unscathed. Oops. My bad. They brought the fist of havoc melee damage down from 185 or higher to 150. Which barely helps. I shouldn't discredit a small fix. Don't get me wrong, hunters are alright, and stormcaller is the only good warlock subclass, but they're balanced. Unlike Titans. They have been getting tweaked for as long as I can remember and they're almost fixed. Blink isn't what it should be though. I know I'll get a lot of hate for this, and it'll mostly be from Titans, but guess what? Titans have the most health AND are the fastest class in the game. That sounds overpowered. (Because it is) So as a counter, blink should get buffed, or "Titan skating" should not be a thing. I know that I didn't make the game, and I can't choose how things in it work. It's not my place, but I'd definitely make it balanced if I had the power. Titans are due for a balancing patch, and the other classes are due for some fixes too. This is all in hopes of making my favorite game a little better, like it used to be. *edit* I'm not hating on people playing characters. I've mained warlock since day one. When hunters were op, I wanted them balanced. When firebolts and stormcaller supers were op, I wanted them balanced. Now Titans are op, and need balancing. Just because something is meta doesn't mean everyone is using it. It just needs balanced. Can't wait for the Titan nerf Tuesday.

    I bashed my head on the table so hard I think my head is bleeding now after reading this.... Still it's better than just screaming nerf Titans.

    I love the fact that you contently leave out the facts that: A) Titans are host to the worst roaming super in the game. B) Titans other super (the bubble) is like a giant flag with a neon purple sign the reads "I have a shotgun. Stay away." C) fists of havoc is the most common panic super, overall making it less effective than other supers. On top of that, your entire second paragraph is full of so many falsities that it sounds to me that you can't type properly. Super charge speed and melee speed are both determined by the gear you put on. Although super charge can be affected by how well you play. To that point I just say git gud!! While we're on the topic of "getting killed through walls", I would've like to point out that both nova bomb and shadowshot have the ability to kill someone through a wall. This "issue" is not Titan specific. Lightning grenades are not close to OP. They pulse in a way that it's not hard just to bypass them. The damage drop-off from the first pulse to the subsequent pulses is significant. As an added bonus, they can be shot and destroyed. You seen to be hating on a class that has been nerfed plenty. (SC and sunbreaker nerfs being the first that come to mind). Quit your whining and play the cards you've been dealt.

    • Barely scathed? I guess you didn't read the patch notes for the December update. And Warlocks are actually the least nerfed class in Destiny. The first time they were nerfed was the April update.

You are spouting absolute bullshit with this first comment. All subclasses have a general timer (either A or B) which dictates how fast their super charges. Granted, Striker and Defender are on column A, they charge the same as the other two on that list. If I'm not mistaken, I also believe that all classes have the same general melee time, though proof to the contrary would be nice if you decide to claim that. The fact we boost forward is a combination of two things: Bungie fixing the Titan melee after a year of it being near worthless and latency in the match. I've seen it and I'm sure I have done it to others, but that is purely intended to give us a fairly normal melee range. [/quote] [spoiler] Directly buffed, yes but it has been indirectly nerfed before. Golden gun's buff allowed for Strikers to be OHKOed out of the super if Strikers are not speced correctly. The unlimited Y-axis is true, but you're ignoring the basic factors like needing to get close (or specing for Death from Above) and the fact that if you ever bothered to notice the animation, you are summoning a lightning bolt down. I've been killed around walls by Nova Bombs much more often than any Fist of Havoc, by a large margin, but that is simply latency which you should never try to balance around. Go play test it yourself and you will see that a solid wall can not be Fist of Havoced or Nova Bombed through. I'm sorry, but lightning grenades are only a problem because you let them be one. They can't OHKO, so standing near one and not understanding the range on it, which uou can see the full range when it pulses (not when it's dormant) is a bad move on your side. I have no problem dealing with them, and if somebody normally kills one I find the fault is my own. They also require a Titan to use in a much different way than most other grenades, and due to walls having an awkward texture (such as burning shrine) they are prone to bring -blam!-ed up even when the player does everything right. [/quote] [spoiler] Before continuing, you didn't specify what he was using on his force barrier or if it was a basic one. Given you said you have a clip of it happening, you probably didn't even bother checking. There is a perk making the shield stronger (Relentless? I don't know defender to well), and if that is the case it is fully understandable. A specific perk in the tree over two other very good perks making a melee kill (unlike the Warlocks on-hit melee shield) Allow for some survivability is a good thing or the perk would be worthless. Regardless, Defender is supposed to be one of the tankier subclasses, hence the being called "Defender". I find it funny that you forgot to mention the third, forgotten subclass that Titans have which got obliterated due to a massive over nerfing to the subclass in this list of things that got shit on. [/quote] [spoiler] By "Most health", I hope you mean "can be tied with Warlocks", because they are very similiar when both speced for max armor as they both can survive the same thing. The thing we have is speed, through Titan skating, which is a good but isn't as helpful as you make it sound. Linear horizontal movement allows for easy pickings and prediction of where we will end up. I'm not disagreeing though, Blink should not have been nerfed as far as it should have been and I'm all for it being reverted to its Taken King status. This is all in hopes of making my favorite game a little better, like it used to be.[/quote] [/quote] [spoiler] I would argue that they only thing that needs to be brought into Balance is Stormcaller, but I haven't played this game seriously since awhile back besides a game or two here and there so I don't know if the timing has been fixed on that super or if they can still wipe 2 teams over. If that's the case, and stormcaller's timer was fixed the one thing to target is Juggernaut (which can be indirectly fixed by solving the other main crucible problem: Primary weapons). To say Titans are largely unbalanced, is kind of a misguided statement. [/spoiler]

            Titans dont go fast unless 1) dunemarchers 2) they dont care about I) armor or II) recovery 3) who cares about titan skating whe you can fly like superman? Edit: also. WHY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT A CLASS YOUVE MAINED?????

            • I think my only real issue with Titans is Juggernaut. I wish it took damage like a bubble or an overshield until it was whittled away. But even that doesn't really upset me, it's a minor irritation. Titans are only as good as the player behind the controls. I mained a Titan all of year one and a lot of year two (my Titan has since been recreated but I had nearly 3x the amount of hours on it as my hunter and warlock combined at one point) and I can tell you Titans are not OP. I feel like something is only OP if any noob can pick it up and wreck. Not the case with Titans. Learning to use a Titan effectively is not just a skill, it's an art. Leave them Titans alone.

                        • Next time I catch you in a Heroic strike, you're not invited into my bubble. Saint-14 is the only exotic armor I use on my Titan. I'm sorry some Guardians abused their strengths and walked all over you, but those same strengths are available for everyone to exploit. If you have pride in a particular class and setup, maintain your dignity and accept your position. Nothing stays the same forever. Exactly why I play all three classes. Strengths and weaknesses.
