I've hung up my Chaperone in trials.
The risk is to high vs the god roll matador that I have and everyone uses.
A slug should shoot further then any spread and the high risk for headshot kills proves it even more!
I think chaperone needs a range boost on headshots but if other ppl agree O well. Hello matador nets I've been bite!
Edit:
Let's get the devs to look into a possible range buff for Chaperone to compete with the current meta of shotguns!
Please like and help share!!!

I used to do quite well with my chaperone until this matador meta. It just doesn't have adequate range any more since everyone has a god roll matador nowadays. I'm playing more grounded and defensive with my chaperone now. Cannot be aggressive with it due to ghost slugs and matadors.

5 RepliesWays to counter a Matador: CLOSE RANGE * Fisto Panic. Not much else, though, MEDIUM RANGE * Fusion Rifle * Sticky Grenade * Sidearm (if you're good) * Low impact autorifle * Golden gunshot * Golden Hammer * A friend or two LONG RANGE * Sniper rifle * Primary with good range stat * Evasion

3 RepliesEdited by Soul_Eater_42: 1/6/2017 4:56:57 PMI've completely given up on shotguns. Dismantled every single one I own. And any that I get from now on, regardless of whether it has a perfect roll or not, I will dismantle. Done with them. None of mine ever work like everyone else's. I can be so close, I could beat them over the head with it, and still not get a kill, but my opponent can one-shot me with ease from a much further range, with the same goddamn shotgun, with the same goddamn perks, so I've moved on to Sidearms.

1 ReplyWhat difference does it make? When you are in TOS, you are going to face the better players and they will usually have the best gear. People were complaining about other weapons way before the Matador or Clever Dragon showed up. It's just a case of the perpetual whining from the TOS community, who are never satisfied.

A slug should shoot further then any spread and the high risk for headshot kills proves it even more!
Yes, I agree with you. A slug not only retains more energy, is more accurate and can hit a huge hole at a bigger distance. So yes, either by laws of physics or by real life experience, it should be more effective at longer ranges. On top of that, it's an exotic that is acquired through a pain in the a$$ quest if you random PvP alone (far more easier with a normal fireteam). It should feel special, specially when compared to the shotgun of the poor that any idiot can fire without aiming. By being required a headshot, it should be at some point better than the damn Matador. This also shows how the game developer is dumb. They not only fail to balance the game, as their attempts/patches often come way too late (people have to suffer from their bad design for months)... Worst, they only way they seem to have to change the meta is elaborated nerfs and add some overpowered weapons like the Matador and the Dragon. I mean, it's good there are powerful weapons available to any, but every class of weapons should have such a weapon available for counter-meta's and for God's sake of changing... It's depressing to see everyone abusing HCR dragon or Matador.

23 RepliesI know it's 2 different games but the slug shotgun in Battlefield headshots at 50 plus meters and 2 shots at the same distance. Chaperone should have much more range than it does.
-
15 RepliesNo, beause that would turn the thing into a short-range sniper rifle. The Chaperone is like No Land Beyond....a "skill gap" weapon. IOW, a weapon people use when they wish to challenge themselves when playing against people who are less skilled than they are. I'm not surprised that you're finding trying to get precision shots at that close of a range, against players of that ability to be difficult and dangerous.

3 RepliesFirebolts were fine, sunsinger was fine. I use all three characters, and I used fusion grenades before they were cool. Firebolts don't win games, that's complete bs for whoever thinks that. They need to buff gunslinger, sunsinger, and bladedancer. Also, off topic, but, snipers don't win games, shotguns don't win games.... YOU win/lose games! Stop making excuses and realise you need to change it up! All the nerfs have ruined the game, and look, I STILL SNIPE, I don't whine about clever dragon, I don't whine about shotguns, instead of yelling at the player, WHERE'S YOUR PRIMARY, I stop and think, what did I do wrong? What could I do differently? Then I correct my mistake, and fix it. Just a thought ...

5 RepliesSo the solution to the highest range shotgun is to give more shotguns higher range? Might was well say, "-blam!- it" and bring back Y1 shotgun Meta.
-
4 RepliesYou obviously didn't play in year one because the shotguns now got nothing on those felwinter shot package rangefinder
-
4 RepliesEven though it is overused in pvp i dont have a problem dealing with them. I use a quantiplasm to be honest and ill will. Handcannons always do the trick.

4 RepliesThe Matador is overpowered. It makes primaries obsolete. It has too much range and too often is a one shot kill from range. Jump and Matador, slide and Matador, hide in a corner and Matador, Matador and Matador, this is boring. It is not fun having to resort to it nor is it fun being on the receiving end.

After playing with my party crasher against matador yea i agree nerf that -blam!-ing gun into the ground

3 RepliesWhile I have no issues with matador range, the chaperone should be further.
-
I absolutely agree. I should be able to headshot someone at farther range than their matador can one shot kill me BUT give me a slower ROF so that if I miss that shot that engagement is almost surely to be won by them. That's how I feel chaperone should work so that it still fits it's intended role. It's absolutely mind boggling how they thought it was fine how it is, there's no reason to use it right now! Which is insane given that most people bitch about how difficult the quest is.

20 RepliesNobody at Bungie has ever used, or possibly even seen a gun IRL. Good luck getting them to apply common sense to Destiny weapons.
-
I use matador/shotgun on my titan because I'm a defender mostly. Hunter I have been learning to abuse fusions with range. I helped a random in the forge and got a vigil with range and accelarated coils lol. Took to crucible last night and was watching everyone EVOOPERATE.
-
Eh my chappy time is loads of fun. Haven't touched trials in a while. Ill just wait till I think a good map is available or when a better weapon balance happens.
-
5 RepliesPeople who use that weapon are the scum of the earth. In a game full of interesting exotic and efficent weapons everyone is using a repulsive chunky disgusting shotgun for all their kills. I use fusion, sidearms and snipers EXCLUSIVELY. And check out my crucible god stats. If you feel you need a shotgun to win in pvp. you are a talentless worm that needs to be culled from the planet. Tresspasser = delicious. Queensbreakers = yummy. Plan C = Sublime. Matador = Gay.

14 RepliesYup I got on the matador wagon as well you don't really have a choice
-
I will use a TEACUP TEMPEST over a matador.

I generally used Lord of wolves it works for the most part and have taken many guardians down with it. I also liked the amount of ammo it had so wasn't always hanging out at the drop zone for 10 sec. But, since getting demolished by perfect rolls of matadors I since made the switch. I do like how it can get those one shot kills. But I miss that reserve ammo from Lord of wolves. My two have the rolls of cascade, reinforced barrel and range finder. #2 is full auto, small bore and close and/or personal.
