Please bump, I'd like to get more feedback on this topic.
How many times has the community complained and complained and complained about Destiny? A lot of times. We complain about it's broken PvP, how it doesn't have enough story, how there are too many re-skins, how bad matchmaking is, etc. So why are we so worried about getting a clean slate in Destiny 2?
I believe that Destiny 2 is nearly guaranteed to be a better game than Destiny 1. I used to be against the idea, but after mulling over it for a while, I think it's brilliant. There is only so much that Bungie can change about the original Destiny to make us happy, it will still be the same game, making changes less significant and drastic even when they need to be. It gives them a chance to work on the engine for the rest of the Destiny franchise, to change it. This could allow them to give the massive open-world experience that they hinted at before launch, to balance PvP and make it a much more enjoyable experience for everyone, having a brand new sandbox.
They can look at all of the feedback from 3 years of Destiny and apply all of it to a new game to make it so much better than what they have now. The great thing about making a new game means that they don't have to work on a game that's currently running. They don't have to keep the game's audience happy while they work on it because it doesn't have an audience yet, they can take as much time as they need in whatever they need to to make for the best experience.
Bungie now knows what they have done right and wrong, which should allow them to make a single, new product that surpasses expectations and gives players the experience that they have been asking for for years now.

Honestly I don't care. I just want Destiny 2 to better than the past 2 years of bullshit. I want year one love, you know, base story and a couple DLC's, raid weapons that are actually worth a shit, exotics that are actually exotic and not as common as blue engrams. Nightfalls that are actually fun to do again, yer one nightfall status, none of this stupid start from a save point, no gotta play it smart or you reset the entire activity. Year one all over again with good content and fun raids and a better leveling system. I am really stoked for Destiny 2, I just hope it's not a let down......

I'd be OK with just having my characters and Grimoire. I can lose the weapons and armor.

2 RepliesAs fun as a fresh start would sound, it would also mark the end of destiny for me. I couldn't imagine all the grinding and countless hours I have in this game just disappear with absolutely nothing to show for it with a fresh start. How would we been recognized as a veteran player? I'm not an elitist but if I've played this game for 2 years straight, and have to start over, what the hell was the point? The whole goal was to buy this game, start a 10 year journey that I was gonna be able to build on. If grimoire will not carry over, or emblems not carry over, or anything identifying me as someone who has dedicated the work and time into it, I'm sorry, I gotta go.

27 Repliesif i dont keep my guns and armor im out sucker adios no looking back, wont let bungie steal 3 years of time with nothing to show for it, and if you let them do it youre a sheep who is perfectly fine with bungie lying and turning back on everything they said
-
They could start by not nerfing everything into the ground. It's a fundamental problem with their design wishes.
-
1 ReplyThey'll reset because they want to forget the horrible mistake Destiny 1 was. Problem is that knowing them they'll probably use year one of Destiny 2 to experiment and we'll need to wait for year 2 for it to actually work.
-
I would hope for a reset to be honest otherwise it's nothing more than another expansion.
-
We should be concerned that Destiny 2 isn't going to happen and Bungie is going to file for chapter 11 by the end of this year.

Personally I think it's a good idea new game new start. They should do something like the forza series, bare with me on this. In forza you get rewards for the higher tier you on, each forza game since forza 3 you had to do set tasks to get points and rank up. I play a lot be I'm tier 9 out if 10 tiers. So every new forza released I get tier 9 rewards which was 9 cars some exclusive to the tier I am. Destiny should and could do something like this, how much completion from year one you have done grimiore etc how many matador64 kills you have :)

12 RepliesCreating my character would have been for nothing then There'd be no reason to invest more time in their game

I used to want my Guardians to progress, but now I think about it, I'm not too bothered either way. A fresh start would be good as long as we got some fitting end to our current Guardians, whether it be some sort of story line dropped as an update just before D2 comes out or a story line built into the start of the new game... (that would be probably be more feasible), but other than that the only things I'd like to keep, and I agree with others here, would be the Grimoire score and some of the Emblems. Maybe a new exclusive Emblem with a nod to 3 years of grind that most of us have gone through
-
All I ask is for an emblem and/or shader as some sort of trophy.
-
1 ReplyI'm fine with a fresh start, as long as your grimoire score stays. It's the only way to tell how long you've played

Edited by GANTZ: 1/5/2017 12:49:46 PMthey take all your stuff away with each DLC anyway to artificially extend the grind of the minimal content they provide

Finally, the righteous army of the true god shall triumph over the barbarians of density, as they shall tremble, naked of armour and weapons against the might of the holy army, on our quest to retake the holy land.
deus vult
Edited by PushedBean764: 1/5/2017 11:50:22 AMI wouldn't mind a fresh start. Being able to start over is a lot more fun and easy to do when it's in a new game. I only hope Destiny 2's character customization and class skills/abilities will be more in-depth and have much more options to choose from. Hell, if it actually comes to PC, I'll move there.

All I know is if my old stuff gets left behind im not grinding for any of the new gear anymore either. Already really disapointed I cant use my year one gear in anything other than patrol and pvp anymore. To have to give all that saved gear up, to leave my dustwalker helmet in the dust and lose everything I have worked so hard for to attain, any more effort into playing the game and grinding endlessly for all the items is just absolutely pointless..

I'd like to keep the micro transactions though . Masks basically holiday kiosk then I'm happy .
-
I pooped today
-
I don't mind a fredh start as long as I get to keep my characters
-
I'm just throwing this out there Dead Island, while a extremely fun game, was very poorly made with many glitches and not the best graphics or gameplay. Even with all of this they allowed for you to transfer your character and all your stuff from the first game to the second, even worse game, Dead Island riptide. Bungie definitely has a bigger budget and is more capable of doing this than the company who produces Dead Island, so they are more than capable of allowing us to continue our destiny adventures on our original characters.
-
I wouldn't mind starting over cause it would be a new experience, but I would also like to have all of my stuff since I'm a veteran Guardian and I'd like that to be a testament to my time in Destiny.
-
I don't want a fresh start, as I want to keep my guardians. That's it. Take my weapons, my armor, my gear, but leave me my character models. After all, gear doesn't matter so much as the guardian using it.

Edited by Elitespear: 1/5/2017 1:20:12 AMTL;DR - bungie have made so many nerfs they need to start again to make destiny 2 any good.
-
i wanted to keep everything, but then i remembered how much fun destiny was in the first week of its release, everything felt new and there was a real sense of adventure

They'll find something to whine about in D2.
