I played destiny a LOT on Xbox one just up to TTK and got to raid level light but never did kings fall before I stopped playing (got engaged/married took a lot of time and my priorities shifted) but I picked up the collection on Black Friday and I'm pretty much a raid light with my hunter (269 max as of last night). I was wondering from you raid vets what weapons are considered a must have to get a group to feel comfortable running me through as far as contributing with DPS and what not. Ik back in the day it was gjhallarhorn and black hammer/spindle but what should I go for now before doing the raid?
TL;DR- what guns are a must have for someone getting ready to do WoTM for the first time?
Edit: 369 light not 269

There's not really a "weapon or bust" requirement any more. Dark-drinker sometimes can be a requirement, but not generally. The dark-drinker is nice, Black Spindle is still good, and Sleeper Simulant is also a good raid weapon. Once you get to HM WoTM, the sniper you can get there is pretty good as well.

Weapon reqs. have mostly vanished with this raid. You've got the occasional dark drinker required post, but that's it. A high impact sniper, a scout rifle and a sword will overall be your best bet though.
-
All you really need is Sleeper/Gjallarhorn for Vosik and Raze-Lighter/Dark Drinker for everything else.

If you were on ps4 I would run you though it with anything you had, since normal isn't anything hard to do. I would suggest what team you get into ask for a monitor run so you can get your raid specific exotic pulse rifle. That alone can help you through a lot of the raid. From normal mode you can get the fusion, shotgun, rocket, scout or auto. The shotgun and scout would help you greatly in the hard mode, since they will deal bonus damage to fallen. As for heavy, if you got the lmg from iron banner use that, if not use your y3 gally, because they will do the most damage, next to dark drinker or the exotic fusion heavy. But dark drinker would be mostly for the second and third phase of the raid. Good luck on running the raid, it is one of the best raids in the game next to vog

On your first normal run you need to have whatever you feel most comfortable with. Just make sure you have a high impact sniper on hand for certain encounters and a heavy weapon you feel can do decent damage with. You'll probably pick up a gun or two in your first run-through that will make things a bit easier, so don't be afraid to mix things up a little bit.

The only requirement i see on the forums, in terms of weapons, is people saying must have dark drinker. I have it, but i try to avoid those groups You want a High impact sniper. I use a 1kys with max stability, triple tap, and spray n play. Any one of the big 4 exotic heavies would work out nicely. (Gally, raze lighter, sleeper, or dark drinker) Personally I use a gally on vosik, and then the dark drinker for the rest of the raid. Id get your light level up before doing hard mode, and watch a vid on youtube of the mechanics

1 ReplyAt 369, you are good to get going in the normal mode. Primary is whatever you're most comfortable with. There isn't really a requirement there. The raid ones are probably best but you won't have those without beating it. There are a lot of random fallen ads around. Dregs, vandals and shanks that you will be dealing with. Special you want a good high impact sniper. Spray and play should be a priority perk to have on it. Along with either clown cartridge or triple tap. These are mainly for boss dps. One of the best ones to get is the Event Horizon which has a very good vendor roll from the crucible rep in the tower. It's pretty well only second to the raid sniper from hard mode for boss dps. Black spindle will have even higher dps but that will also take your exotic slot which you will want to save for heavy. I saw someone recommend the devils dawn but with slow reload and not being able to get spray and play, it's not great. Even with bonus fallen damage. For heavy, you want something that can deal a lot of damage very quickly. You want to be able to deal with captains very quickly with these. This is probably where you want to use your exotic slot though I don't see much unlocked in your inventory. Fortunately, these exotics are also tied to quests. Get your hands on a year 3 Gjallarhorn, dark drinker, raze lighter or sleeper simulant. The best is the dark drinker as it is also fantastic for damage on the final boss but it is a lengthy quest to get. Next best is probably gjally with high burst damage while being able to maintain a safe distance (the quest for this is also relatively short). Some will also argue for sleeper here. Avoid legendary swords as they will take too long for captains and leave you open to getting smacked by them. Other options could also include a high dps shotgun to deal with captains and then sleeper for boss dps which is viable but I think sniper is still preferred.

5 RepliesHigh impact sniper. I use the new one from strike chest for bonus vandal damage. Scout rifle pref is very nice. I use raid rocket again for bonus damage and those perks gah so nice
-
A good high impact sniper is strongly recommended for boss damage. Dark Drinker is really good for the Captains, adds, and Aksis.
-
3 RepliesMe, Dark Drinker, a decent sniper and shotgun, all subclasses are relatively decent, primary is up to you, go in with some knowledge of the raid (a video or two should suffice). All of this is imo of course, you don't have to use any of this. Would help you, but I'm 14

3 RepliesI like the raze lighter also
-
The guns you're good with.

15 RepliesEdited by Sherpa: 12/19/2016 7:13:01 AMNothing is required However Dark Drinker is the best for aksis damage A good high impact sniper - I prefer... But Not Forgotten Oiled frame / speed reload / spray and play Combined with sniper reload gauntlets the reload is almost instant when reload canceling. Makes it one of the best DPS secondaries to combine with DD. Any high impact scout / HC with explosive rounds is recommended This is a screenshot I took after joining a group that's been stuck on aksis for a bit. These are the damage numbers I reach on average with this setup http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Weapons%20Bubble/screenshot/5391661

Sleeper and Dark Drinker are IMO the two best weapons for the Raid
-
Nothing needed but high impact sniper is almost needed in all raids and dark drinker is really useful
-
Ex macina, sleeper, dark drinker
-
A mid-high impact legendary sniper (See Banshee's Eirene, can get off 7 shots in 1 mag with the right roll), a scout rifle with explosive rounds to 1HK shanks. An Exotic heavy (Sleeper, Gjally, Dark Drinker).
-
2 RepliesJust high impact snipers for boss DPS, a lot of people run swords because there's a lot of captains that can be tricky otherwise! Also Dark Drinker is the best weapon to dps the final boss
-
No real requirements for normal mode, just a strong primary, sniper (shotgun for certain parts) and either G-horn or Sleeper. Hard mode you'll probably want Outbreak, raid sniper, and a strong heavy(Dark Drinker for Aksis)
-
Sleeper, Ghorn or Dark Drinker are the heavies after that just a good sniper.
-
2 RepliesGhorn is still good along with any high impact sniper
-
1 ReplyAm I reading correctly that you hit 269 light? As 365 is about the lowest that should go into a raid :). No need for any specific weapons in WOTM, however a good high impact sniper helps.

Sleeper works great
