I'm pretty lost on what to do. This is the first videogame I have ever played (and I still havent played. A friend of mine had my ps4 to set it up)
I decided to get Destiny The Collection since it was 20$ on my area, and it was a collection of the supposely highly acclaimed franchise with over 30 million players. And from the developer from Halo, and that game was supposely one of the best shooter franchises ever made. I didn't knew how the Xbox 360 looked like and I couldn't escape from Halo 3 ads xD
Anyway, to end my post, my friend told me to go here to see how this game works and that's is a social game
So, what do you in this game? What's the story?

I believe this dude somewhat I mean look he's still only played an hour and a half after several days...

Just play it however you like man. Start levelling up and having some fun. Add some possitive people from on here in the comments. Avoid the negative guys. And you'll be all good.

232 replies?!?!?! Now 233?!?!?!

Funny to see people still taking OP's bait, so many brainless fish in the sea.
-
1 ReplySo what's your actual PSN?
-
1 ReplyBullshit. They spent 30 million on it, and it didn't break 1 million players till the TTK. Also, why destiny as your first game? Why not something actually mentally stimulating?
-
Grab your controller and start hitting buttons you'll discover what happens by looking at your screen!
-
3 RepliesYou're better off with another game. Until destiny 2 when they "fix" everything.

Is this a troll post!? I'm fvcking dying here!!!

4 RepliesWord of warning this is a very grind focused shooter with stellar combat and amazing visuals. However the story is...complicated. Not just because it's in grimoire you can only access in the app. You will probably understand very little about what's going on unless you read the cards. Like most mmorpgs. However the gunplay is next to none. Weapons and character control surpass almost any other game. Multiplayer, unlike what you'll hear, is not as bad as it sounds and in many ways surpasses COD, Battlefield and Halo. The memories you make will not be in the story but with friendship, completing strikes and raids, obtaining god roll armor while grinding to the highest level and earning some pretty stellar exotics. You will kill some of gaming's most epic bosses and stand against a plethora of abominations you will gleefully obliterate with well timed supers. You will experience love and hate at the same time in a community that can put Reddit, Twitch and YouTube commenters to shame. You may leave for weeks at a time, only to be lured by new content and weapons. You have become part of something greater than yourself Guardian. You have become our comrade, our sibling and our friend. Welcome to Destiny. Enjoy.

Get friends and grab a fun clan, and the fun comes naturally! You can add me if you need some help.

2 RepliesSome people won't take this seriously, so I'll do it. It starts you off being woken up from death in Russia by a Ghost, a biomechanical being that serves as your guide in the Destiny universe. He briefs you on being dead for a long time (after a presumed falling out on Earth) and says that you have to be taken to the City, the last safe place on Earth. It comprises of the lower city area and the Tower, the area you will call home. After being introduced to the City and its goal, it's up to you to help defeat whatever foes stand in your way and to bring your people back out of the Dark Age. The game should tell you a small bit of the lore as you progress. There's two options of play. PvE (Player Versus Everyone) is the "story mode", making you go through missions, doing Strikes, Raids and finishing Quests in order to help the Vanguard, an elite group of Guardians that specialize in protecting the City. PvP (Player Versus Player) is your competitive game mode. Most sub-game modes in this category set you up with teams with a set objective. For Control, you're set with 5 other people on your team against a separate team of six, and the main goal is to capture and protect the Zones that are available for conquering. In Rift, it's also 6v6, and your goal is to capture a Spark located in the middle of the map and to ignite a Rift near the enemies's spawn point. In Clash, it's a 6v6 kill-for-points style. The only goal is to kill things. I may add more advice as I can think of it.

Edited by TheMilkman: 12/2/2016 5:50:49 AMBeware Randal da vandal. Stick with one character till level 40. If you are Titan l veil up your defender subclass first. If you a hunter level up night stalker when you get it down the road. If you are a warlock level up your sun singer. Read the forums less and play more. Trust me this place really loves to put this game down even though it's pretty good for what it does. It does have flaws like story. There is a story but it mixes both reading grimore cards and listening which is fine the this type of game genre. You can honk your horn on your sparrow by press B or Circle/O Heavy is your friend. If you like bullets then a machine gun is for you. If you like explosions then you like rockets. If you like stabbing then swords are for you. If you GIANT FRICKIN LAZERS OF DOOM get the sleeper simulant. There are rare/special guns and armor called exotics with special perks. A good armor for a def Nader Titan is the Saint 14. A good exotic is the Gjallerhorn. Gjallerhorn is rocket launcher shooting a single rockets exploding causing separate rounds called wolf pack rounds to track other targets or deal massive damage against bosses. Patrol is a good way to learn maps and find hidden bosses. You will go to a place called the dreadnaught with tons of secrets and bosses. It's pretty gloomy there. If you like pvp then iron banner and trials is your thing. If you like pve then raids are your thing Trials: A round based, match of 3 players versus 3 players. Very competitive, you might not do this for a while. Iron banner: a team based match with high level items such as guns or armor. Comes around once a month. Raids: Take a regular mission and stretch it out for 8 hours with checkpoints or saves. Raids require teamwork and communication. They have puzzles and a single boss each checkpoint. Each boss has a different puzzle to defeat him. Each raid has a different difficulty such as normal and hard. There are currently 4 raids and POE. POE: Stands for prison of elders; it's a round based and has one boss at the end of each game. Each boss has a different way of trying to kill you. One might shoot fire or light the whole room on fire. Another example is a boss who drains dregs to heal itself. There are also different types of Poe but the main one you will focus on is Skolas. In the house of wolves quest you will meet this lovely boss and face him. Strikes are like raids but shoot with decent level loot. If you get a skeleton key save them for later. That's it for now. Have fun in the long story and interesting cayde jokes. Btw cayde is the hunter OG. He interesting character :^

As soon as you can, you'll want to join a FACTION. (They unlock at level 20? I think...) The 3 main factions are: Future War Cult: (my pick) Dead Orbit, and New Monarchy. Each of these are located in a specific spot in the Tower. In the beginning, it won't really matter which you pick, as you can always switch later. Just choose the one that has a good weapon, or if you don't know what makes a good weapon, choose the one with the coolest color scheme! Why do you want to join? Well, whenever you get reputation, (which is different from experience by the way... I was confused about that at first) by doing bounties, missions, Crucible, etc., you can rank up your faction. When you rank up, you are rewarded with 1 of 3 packages: weapons, armor, or Chroma. You'll want either weapons or armor. These packages contain HIGH LIGHT ITEMS (high level) which can be worn once you hit level 40? (I think) Ranking up also allows you to purchase stuff for LEGENDARY MARKS (high level, endgame currency). Most of this stuff you can't do until you hit level 40 (max level), but if you start now it'll help you later on. I may be wrong with some of the details because both the leveling and faction system was WAY different in Y1. (anyone remember forever 29?) Anyway, hope this helps! ;)

Some tips: It would be a good idea to join a clan of friendly Guardians that accept newer players, they will help you with every aspect of the game. the100.io is a good place to start asking for help if you need to do anything and dont have a team/clan, especially with end game activities like raids. Xur comes around every weekend to sell exotic gear and other items. This will be of interest after level 40. You want to hold off on these for now, and start buying them nearer to max Light, 400. Join a faction in the Tower. They will give you packages when you rank up, and that will help you increase your Light. About the story: In terms of the actual background story and lore of the universe, you want to read the grimoire which you can find on this site (My Legend > Grimoire) or on the Destiny App. Its unfortunate that its not in the game, but it is what it is. Its a great read if you have the time and the effort. You will learn everything about everything in the game right now, however it is an ongoing story so we have to wait for some reveals.

One thing I'd suggest is that if you don't think you'll like having your name as a gamer tag for very long to go ahead and create a new PSN account and change it now before you get any more invested in your characters. Only saying this 'cause I didn't find out/realize I wouldn't be able to change mine until after having enough progress on my characters that there's no way I'm starting over.

FIND a clan to join as it is best to have people to play with.

Run! Don't look back, or else the salt will get ya!

If you okay from the beginning *highly recommended* you have tons of content to burn through. Don't worry about understanding it the first time through. You will grind the same content hundreds of times. While this seems bad, the world, mechanics, gameplay are so entrancing it feels like a new game every time you pick it up. To this day it's the only game I will ever consider putting time into. Save your strange coins. Lucky for you XUR will be useful for you. But 3 of coins and use them on ultras. Use the coins to buy the best loot in destiny. The multiplayer, crucible, pvp arena is a mess. But with all of its flaws I still have fun. I also feel like a god at times. And sometimes like a sack of potatoes. Anyways. IMO this is the best game on the market.

3 RepliesEdited by MusicCityTitan: 12/1/2016 2:58:15 PMWelcome new Guardian. 1st off pick a class and play through it. Try to last on one class at least until you open up all the subclass perks to try them out. Once you have done that, then try a new class. This way you can see what feels best for you without shortchanging any of them. 2nd, save your motes of light, Strange coins, and any exotic engrams until you reach max level. You will increase in level so fast you dont want to waste these limited resources on any item that you will outgrow too quickly. 3rd, this game is very solo friendly, but you will miss out on a lot of content if you don't have friends to play with. A lot of the game has matchmaking that auto connects you with others for strikes and certain missions, but for the raids, and end game content this is not the case. Having a good guild is helpful, but not necessary. Just download one of the many apps for matchmaking out there. 4th, Crucible. One thing that Destiny does is make sure a total new player with little gear has the same opportunity that a fully leveled max light player has. This does not apply to Trials and Iron Banner. 5th, HAVE FUN. It's a freaking game. Treat it like one. When it feels like a hassle to play, when you are getting frustrated with it....then stop playing. Try something else. Take a break. Again, welcome to the fold and good luck in your endeavors.
