COZMO!! Attention required... Please play Titanfall 2

I could write a research paper on what makes a fun multiplayer game, but instead... I'll just make a suggestion that will help you understand what I'm talking about: Objectively play a session of Destiny, a game you most likely have hours devoted to(meaning you know your way around it), and then play a session of TitanFall 2. I won't spoil anything If you haven't played this game. However, I feel that it's important that you have this experience(comparing the baseline experience of Destiny and TF2 in PVP)so that you can report your findings to the crucible sandbox team. I say this, not to bag on Destiny, but out of love. I'm confident after playing TF2, you will understand what I'm getting at with this post. I know that the team at Bungie is aware of how important it is to have a solid PVP experience. I know that considerable resources have been assigned to work on Destiny 2 and it is a critical time to get things going in the right direction. To put it bluntly, right now the crucible isn't much fun, and the community has been very vocal on what they feel are the reasons. DO NOT MISTAKE "NUMBER OF PLAYERS" FOR "PLAYER SATISFACTION". I continue to play Destiny because of the oscillation between cooperative and competitive events... When one is stale, I move to another. However, one side is, and always has been a better, more polished experience, that being PVE. Many people are here for that very reason, but at some point, the absolutely defeating feeling of the crucible becomes too much, and activity drops. I'm already seeing it on my friends list right now. It doesn't have to be this way. The entire philosophy is so off base and wrong for the crucible... And it's deeper than just bad connections, poor weapon balance, shifting metas, and limited map design. The problems with the crucible are so numerous because the entire act of crucible is counter to itself... 1. Supers and heavy weapons make the game more casual, yet we are matched aggressively by skill. We're told to "not take it seriously but the entire back-end ensures that we take it damn serious or else it's a snow ball of supers and one shot kills. 2. The entire game is based on loot, but you better use the few weapons that perform in the limited map design if you want to not be destroyed. I CANNOT believe that Auto rifles are still in the shape they are in after all this time. 3. On top of not having any options for social or casual play, we have an entire competitive mode, with content locked behind a 9-0 tournament THAT HAS ALMOST ZERO MODERATION. Dig into the paid carry scene Cozmo... What you will find there is staggering, and the situation is worse than people believe. NO COMPETITIVE GAME OR SPORT OPERATES BY HAVING PAID PROFESSIONALS COMPETING AGAINST AVERAGE JOES, and then giving them a trophy for it. It's like the Cubs playing the weekend warrior dads baseball team. Not to mention cheating... Which is related to everything wrong with trials currently. 4. There is only a few ways to play Destiny, and every change made to increase TTK and promote counter play, has resulted in the same"bait and ambush" gameplay that exists in every modern shooter. The issue is that Destiny isn't every other modern shooter, and has the potential for so much more. I understand that TF2 and Destiny are two very different games, but the common thread in PVP for both games is that players are fighting each other. If you take the time to take part in this request, pay attention to the things that make that process less stressful, and more in line with the goals set forth by BUNGIE for the crucible... A fun casual experience for players of all skill and type to enjoy. Right now fun is the last thing I would call the crucible.

  • PVP in Destiny is fine and Bungie is quite capable of maintaining it on their own without having to steal ideas from another game and the recommendation that they should is pretty insulting. I understand that you currently have more fun playing another game and thankfully you have the right to do so. If you enjoy Destiny enough then it will stay in your rotation and if it does not then that is fine too. There are plenty of games I have loved that I no longer play.

  • I think the best thing about titanfall is momentum it's a constant thing your always moving and the game makes it that way, no sprint cool down and you don't get stuck on the environment as bad as destiny, like you hit a wall then you start wall running

  • Beating a dead horse. Guardians have been providing feedback on Crucible since the beta and it is still a shit show. It is so deeply broken that Bungie will never be able to fix it. Meanwhile you have games like Overwatch, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, CoD:IW, the older CoDs, and many more games vying for multiplayer time. The only hope for multiplayer Destiny is Destiny 2.

I am in love with the TF2 multiplayer-- to the point that I completely ignored Mayhem last week. Mayhem has been my favorite mode because it is so fast that I don't focus on how well I'm doing, and I don't feel as demoralized when a red-bar is on top. TF2 is just like that ALL the time. If I jumped into a Destiny match and got 4 kills and ended dead last I would have had a horrible time at it, not to mention the 3 pieces of hatemail. I'd probably quit for the day. In TF2 there is no k/d, and even if I can't dome a pilot or sneak up on a camper I have opportunity to do well for my team. I'm finishing first/second place but it is a complete surprise because I was focused on the game and the fun. It's also nice to see how many people are in my actual region, and what my ping to the match is. It's just a vastly better pvp experience for me. I'll miss Destiny. Two years ago I would have told you I was down for 10 years. Last year I'd say "They'll fix the problems!" This year it's in my rearview. :( -a casual

    • Titanfall has its flaws as well (although very few!); however, it's hard to notice them when you compare the game to the garbage of Destiny's crucible. It's almost a crying shame how a company like Bungie can fail so hard at PvP! And over 2 years later we are worse off than when we started...

          • PvP in Titanfall is mental. It feels like every enemy has a one shot kill, there is no time to react. The maps are huge, which is great but the combat and feel of the weapons are superior in Destiny. I get destroyed in Titanfall, I don't in destiny.

            • One of the most succinct and relevant arguments I've seen formulated on the current state of Destiny PvP. Especially Trials. Broken and biased.

            • Bungie won't reply or acknowledge this good post. You forgot to attach a dumb ass drawing you made, or mention that you had a baby, or some other non-relevant thing. It would seem you have to post something no one gives a rats ass about in order for them to reply. Next time try to make the title of your post about something totally stupid, and then at least you have a chance that it will be read. GG and good post. Keep up the good work. +10 for Titanfall2

                  • 1) The crucible is competitive multi-player, relaxing and competitive don't mix. You are going to have to put in some kind of effort, but you shouldn't be sweating all the time. 2) Every shooter has a meta regardless of how balanced it is. As a wise warlock one said "There must always be a strongest, it is the architecture of these spaces". 3) Trials is a way for pvp players to get endgame loot, so if people want to pay to get carried to the lighthouse to get the loot then I don't see what the problem with that is. 4) That's just how pvp in all shooters is, it's either kill or be killed.

The issue is that Destiny isn't every other modern shooter, and has the potential for so much more.
My only real complaint about Destiny PvP is connection and that oh so STUPID mechanic to break up random teams based on performance but that's another conversation... 1. Matter of opinion. I don't agree but I can see an argument for it. Having supers and heavy does not automatically make a game casual in my opinion. 2. There has always been weapon balance issues, there is in every game. That being said, I think this is the best weapon balance they have had yet. At least at my skill level every weapon class seems viable. Hand cannons could use some tweaks of course but snipers are not a necessity just to function. Also, high rate autos were a force before the last adjustment. 3. I agree something needs to be done with the cheaters but assuming you are talking about Trials of Osiris...it shouldn't be easy. It's end game activity. Just as people who don't or can't complete the yearly moments of triumph dont get their end game swag neither should ToO player that can't compete. To use your analogy, Cubs V. Dad's yea, maybe they shouldn't be playing each other but Dad's shouldn't get a Superbowl ring either ( or whatever MLB gets, I can't watch that paint dry). Point being the rewards are and should be different if you aren't going to compete against the highest level the game has go offer in both PvP and PvE. 4. This one I don't quite follow. Are you saying TTK should be lower like most FPSs? I would argue that it's high TTK is what makes it NOT a "bait and ambush". It's relatively difficult to get a reliable OHK in Destiny compared to most FPSs. It doesn't turn into the cluster fock of 2 second life spans you see in most games. Titan fall can turn into death after death after death because every weapon can melt you. So, yea. Destiny has ALOT it can improve on but wanting it to be more like Titanfall 2 (TF2) is not the answer. I would even argue that Titan fall is not casual, it just hasn't been out long enough to produce enough sweaties to ruin your gaming experience yet. I say yet because it will undoubtedly will get sweaty and it will be arguable worse because you will be dead before you even know what direction it came from.
I REALLY LIKE Titanfall I just disagree with your argument
• eh. the campaign was cool but the mp is pretty much CoD with giant robots and bigger maps. Also it seemed like every match I played my weapons were nerf guns while everyone else had golden eye golden guns.

                        • ....I don't get it. If Titan Fall is more fun, then go play it. If you aren't happy with Destiny, then stop playing. No one is holding a gun to your head and making you play something you don't enjoy. If you're still playing Destiny even if you don't enjoy it, what makes you think Bungie is going to feel pressured to change anything? If you really want to get their attention, then stop playing their game. Bungie has been making games for many years. I seriously doubt that the rant of yet another forum user is going to make them take your advice over their current employed developers. They know what they're doing. It may not be what you like, and that's okay...cause Destiny is not made specifically for you. The sooner people accept that, the sooner we can start getting useful information out of this salty, crybaby filled, entitled teenager forum community.
