I could write a research paper on what makes a fun multiplayer game, but instead... I'll just make a suggestion that will help you understand what I'm talking about:
Objectively play a session of Destiny, a game you most likely have hours devoted to(meaning you know your way around it), and then play a session of TitanFall 2.
I won't spoil anything If you haven't played this game. However, I feel that it's important that you have this experience(comparing the baseline experience of Destiny and TF2 in PVP)so that you can report your findings to the crucible sandbox team. I say this, not to bag on Destiny, but out of love. I'm confident after playing TF2, you will understand what I'm getting at with this post.
I know that the team at Bungie is aware of how important it is to have a solid PVP experience. I know that considerable resources have been assigned to work on Destiny 2 and it is a critical time to get things going in the right direction. To put it bluntly, right now the crucible isn't much fun, and the community has been very vocal on what they feel are the reasons.
DO NOT MISTAKE "NUMBER OF PLAYERS" FOR "PLAYER SATISFACTION". I continue to play Destiny because of the oscillation between cooperative and competitive events... When one is stale, I move to another. However, one side is, and always has been a better, more polished experience, that being PVE. Many people are here for that very reason, but at some point, the absolutely defeating feeling of the crucible becomes too much, and activity drops. I'm already seeing it on my friends list right now.
It doesn't have to be this way. The entire philosophy is so off base and wrong for the crucible... And it's deeper than just bad connections, poor weapon balance, shifting metas, and limited map design. The problems with the crucible are so numerous because the entire act of crucible is counter to itself...
1. Supers and heavy weapons make the game more casual, yet we are matched aggressively by skill. We're told to "not take it seriously but the entire back-end ensures that we take it damn serious or else it's a snow ball of supers and one shot kills.
2. The entire game is based on loot, but you better use the few weapons that perform in the limited map design if you want to not be destroyed. I CANNOT believe that Auto rifles are still in the shape they are in after all this time.
3. On top of not having any options for social or casual play, we have an entire competitive mode, with content locked behind a 9-0 tournament THAT HAS ALMOST ZERO MODERATION. Dig into the paid carry scene Cozmo... What you will find there is staggering, and the situation is worse than people believe. NO COMPETITIVE GAME OR SPORT OPERATES BY HAVING PAID PROFESSIONALS COMPETING AGAINST AVERAGE JOES, and then giving them a trophy for it. It's like the Cubs playing the weekend warrior dads baseball team. Not to mention cheating... Which is related to everything wrong with trials currently.
4. There is only a few ways to play Destiny, and every change made to increase TTK and promote counter play, has resulted in the same"bait and ambush" gameplay that exists in every modern shooter. The issue is that Destiny isn't every other modern shooter, and has the potential for so much more.
I understand that TF2 and Destiny are two very different games, but the common thread in PVP for both games is that players are fighting each other. If you take the time to take part in this request, pay attention to the things that make that process less stressful, and more in line with the goals set forth by BUNGIE for the crucible...
A fun casual experience for players of all skill and type to enjoy.
Right now fun is the last thing I would call the crucible.

28 RepliesBut, Destiny and Titanfaliure 2.0 have nothing in common. The games are drastically different. I don't want Titanfailure 2.0 movement. I don't like wall running gimmicks and slides that go 50 feet. I don't like their shallow gunplay and downright garbage customization (which you have to pay to actually get anything worth while!). I like Destiny. I like most of it's systems. But saying that PvP is a FUNDAMENTAL part of Destiny is laughable. The Crucible has always been shit. It was never meant to be the selling point of Destiny. The PvE content has always been top notch and yeah, it gets boring, BUT that is when you stop playing and go play something that has actual good PvP gameplay. Stop trying to force other games into Destiny. I wouldn't even be mad if Destiny 2 didn't have PvP. I want Bungie to focus on what they are obviously good at and cut off the fat. I have other games I can play and come back when I get bored of those and want to do some dope Raids or other PvE content like I always have.

3 RepliesBut Titanfall s multiplayer gets boring very quickly too! 😬
-
3 RepliesApples and Oranges. And please get back to us after you've sunk 1/2 the time into Titanfall that you have in Destiny and let us know how engaging it still is.
-
2 RepliesEverytime you say TF2, I cringe...not because TitanFall 2 is a bad game, but because I can only think of Team Fortress 2.
-
2 RepliesEdited by WickedFluffyVT: 12/1/2016 2:57:39 AMI honestly hate how TF2 means Titanfall 2, since I get that and Team Fortress 2 confused constantly.
-
4 RepliesI get your points but the games are two different for me to compare. About the only thing destiny can take is that titanfall does match making based on your area. Destiny is an ever evolving game. Titanfal has a beginning and an end dlcs will be pvp based. gamemodesm maps and skins etc but the pve part of that game is done. Question did you get the feels when bt died both times?. I dont want a new titan 😭

Some person-"Hey COZMO!!!!" Cozmo- "-blam!- caps-lock, I gotta check this out."

2 RepliesGo play titan fall if you like it better jackass.
-
Titanfall won't last as long as Destiny... But today it's a million times better than Destiny. Bungie ruined Destiny to cater for the elite streamer community who were bringing in the cash cows. Destiny 2 will be the same as we now know Bungie's business plans and future plans for this series. All they have done is hurt the community and their player base. Destiny survived beyond expectations and probably made a lot of money for investors and publishers. No one cares about us as our money is already blown in celebration champagne. Sad thing is that all these games like TF2, skyrim, Final Fantasy, GoW4 will fade soon and we won't have a lovable Destiny game to play anymore.

I forgot to bump this, bump
-
Why do people write this crap. Thing is titanfall will probably be dead in 6 months because it has no depth just like the first one. Don't get me wrong I enjoy playing them but destiny is destiny and shouldn't just copy what other games do. it's obviously not in that bad of a state is it considering loads of people are still playing it three years in.

The paid carry seen only bothers me because I have to compete against professionals that play for a living while me the family man with a mortgage and kids literally has no chance of going 9 and 0 for content that's locked behind a flawless run. It really seems over whelming when me and 2 of my friends that are decent pvp players who average 1.0 and 1.2 kds can't even get passed 6 wins. If the system is rigged then they shouldn't lock away content. Really that's the only issue I have with destiny at the moment
-
Matchmaking is way faster in titanfall. I would say it takes less than a minute in titanfall to find a match
-
Just don't buy D2. It will be the same crap.
-
6 RepliesThe main issue in titanfall 2 is the time to kill, it is a game of you win if you shoot first, in Destiny I find you get longer fights and dodges, the vertical space use in Destiny I think is in paralleled.
-
4 RepliesEdited by Smough: 12/1/2016 5:17:10 AMEh, the time to kill in titanfall 2 is a bit too quick for me. Hardly feels like any actual skill and gunplay is involved. Just in case anybody is wondering I still love titanfall 2 and it's fun, but I just wish the time to kill was a bit longer.
-
35 RepliesWell, the way TF2's MP is... It will end up as another CoD. The really short TTK is going to kill it
-
I actually strongly prefer Destiny PvP. TF2 is fun for about two matches before I get incredibly frustrated by the short ttk and constantly being sniped by auto rifles.

Edited by SoAnnoying: 12/1/2016 4:37:36 AMI bought TitanFall 2 to get away from the crap that Destiny had become. I only came back because a friend asked me to help them with a quest Strike. It's my understanding that Bungie has swung the "ban hammer", and it seems that the most egregious tea-bagging cheaters are gone for now. However, Destiny's PvP is still a complete joke.... It still remains, show me a RED bar connection and I'll show you the winner of the match. TitanFall 2's multiplayer makes Destiny's PvP look like the kiddie's pool....

Tf2. Heh

Edited by Unforgiven: 12/1/2016 2:28:30 AMOverall I have to say that I really like Titanfall 2. I wish they slightly adjusted some of the guns to make the Damage numbers in the interface reflect the game. They kind of don't right now, so trying to decide on which weapon to use is kind of difficult to me, also the player base is coming in from Titanfall 1 kicks my ass right now, but I need to practice. Overall though, the weapons actually hit the enemies when you use them, and seem to be more reliable. When you lose a 1 v1, you always know why you lost, but in Destiny it is sometimes hard to tell why you lost an encounter.
-
5 RepliesIt is my hope that the Devs take some time to play Titanfall 2, BF1, and CoD: Infinite Warfare, and cherry-pick the best elements for D2. Those three games have compelling campaigns and really fun, well-balanced PvP.
-
The movement is good but the kill time and gun feel I can't get behind.
-
6 RepliesTitanfall 2 is trash nothing compared to the original Titanfall. The issue on the first one was it was to simple and the issue in the second one is they added too much it doesn't fell like Titanfall anymore.
-
2 RepliesSadly I have to agree with you. The Crucible is anything but fun (for most game modes). I say this because Mayhem Game Modes (Particularly Mayhem Clash) is my favorite game mode - minus the overflow of Supers. I think you could tone down the recharge rate of Supers in that game mode and you'd have the epitome of what Clash is meant to be. ** In short, Mayhem Clash is almost perfect, and regular Clash is anything but. ** While the Crucible is "fun" sometimes - and by sometimes I mean ONLY WITH FRIENDS - the Trials Scene is absolutely, positively, without a doubt in my mind F-U-C-K-E-D!!! Cozmo, Deej, Bungie Devs, I implore you to scan your "Planet Destiny" LFG site and - oddly enough - eBay. You have good Crucible players - your "best of the best" - charging people real money for a chance (A CHANCE) to try for flawless. And on top of that, I've heard of people not going flawless and getting scammed out of their money. Add cheating through DoS attacks and you have a game mode who has no competitive integrity whatsoever. The only silver lining in this whole debacle are channels like "LuCKyy_and_BW" who do raffles where one lucky winner per raffle gets a chance to go for flawless... No money or Sub required, all you have to do is follow, and the chances of going flawless are pretty good if you follow instructions and the pair is pretty chill (although BW has a tendency to "rage" when he gets outplayed, but it's probably part of a stream act...). In the way of weapon balancing... Bungie. I'm not impressed. I see a bunch of weapons used but when I play competitive - namely Trials - all I see are Party Crashers, Matadors, Clever Dragons, Grasps of Malok, MIDA Multi-Tools, you get the picture. You have to look at the big problems. Some of these weapons have too much impact for how high a rate of fire they have. Some of them have too long a range and too high an impact. Another overarching problem is AIM ASSIST. THIS BREAKS THE GAME. Some of these weapons don't need it... Granted some of the Snipers need a bit of Aim Assist, SHOTGUNS AND PRIMARIES NEED NO AIM ASSIST.
