What is seen as fair currently:
Getting Thrown on teams worse than you VS. A team of Sweaties
Getting Thrown into a match that is about over or you are losing.
Getting Thrown into a match where you are the only player that can last from mid-way to the end of the match.
Getting put into a match where you can't hit your target and the connections are all bad.
All of the above being ok because someone is a higher skill level.
This is why people say SBMM (at least in Destiny) is bad.
SBMM does not work with Player-to-Player connections. There are a lot of things in PVE and PVP that would improve if they would actually get Dedicated servers for the players, which is something that has been suggested over and over again since Destiny's beginning.
Why is being higher skill pretty much punished in this game? Why should higher skilled players be forced to play Custom Games just to have fun and relax? No one should be forced to custom games just to have fun with PVP.
Also, most high rated players don't want to just "Pubstomp" newbies, that is not even the remotest reason why they or any one else wants the original system to return.
They want fair connections, they want their shots to land, and they don't want to shoot at enemies only to die themselves and the enemy to spontaneously die 5 seconds later.
They don't want to be thrown into a losing match that they have no hope of turning around.
They, like anyone else, don't want to be thrown into a match that has completely unbalanced teams.
The people that are doing nothing but throwing insults, telling people to leave and play something else (which is what a lot of people have been doing lately), and in general do everything they can to be toxic towards the people stating their opinions and feedback are what is ultimately wrong with the community.
Further more, people have payed for this game (some a lot more than others), and yes it may be "Bungie's game", but it runs much like a theme park. They are the ticket payers in this scenario and if something was wrong about the rides they should be able to say something without other patrons or the owners to just "Deal with it" or "Go to the rides that are working". Other places would lose business if they had this attitude toward their customers, Bungie should be no exception.
Yes not all feedback will be important, but there have been tons of people providing evidence for a little over a year as to why this system just doesn't work currently within Destiny. Saying that all this evidence should be ignored as well because Bungie gave their explanation does not help anyone or help feedback reach the ears of those who work on the game.
It also rather shameful that, even though this has been a complaint for a little over a year now, certain people are just now acting like it is a huge issue that no one had a problem with until this moment and deciding that people are just whining/crying about it because Bungie finally said something about it. This has happened to several topics in the post and have led to players not only leaving the game and community altogether, but also warning others to not tread near to either.
