One of the main reason Destiny is so successfull is that ordinary people can enjoy PVP thanks to SBMM.
I find it very worrying to see the mods here awnser favorably to the hundreds of "please allow us to stomps noobs every game" posts. We've seen this exact same thing with COD: BO2 was a game that casual people loved and had some success in so the elitist complained and Activition listened to them. We all know the results. The division is a similar story. The endgame was unplayable for the casual players, the elite loved it so Ubisoft did nothing. The game died.
You must listen to the silent majority and focus on your stats: Do more people play pvp now than in year one? Yes? Then let us have fun.
Besides the elitists love and follow the bad players. If you listen to them and force us to go play someyhing else, their precious ratio will go lower and they will also switch game. Again, the same thing that happened to COD.
Let people vote with their feet and actions, not on this forum or reddit where it's all elite players.
Tyvm.

Edited by ironBill: 11/18/2016 11:36:41 AMWhether it is SBMM or some other form of leveling system, there has to be a way to allow new and casual players to enter a match with a mature and veteran player base. Bungie cannot capture and retain new players at realistic numbers by allowing them to be annihilated routinely in PvP. There is a level of frustration people will endure, especially when they are trying to have fun; exceed that level and people will walk. Now this comment is sure to bring in the "people want a handout", and, "no one wants to work for anything" crowd, but allow me to preemptively assure those people... I work with people for a living, kids in fact. You can only frustrate people so much before they turn their backs on you. Some people have more tolerance for it than others, but ALL have a breaking point.

I agree with this post and I play this game everyday. Sbmm has to stay.
-
1 ReplyThey will always protect the casual player, because the casual player makes up the majority of people that play this game. That's why they try so hard to bring people back. Without the casual player this game wouldn't have made it out of year 1.
-
Your post will call forth the toxic players.
-
This is a very good idea due to the new players such as myself. When I enter pvp I like to have a match that I can get into and not die immediately
-
Well...i agree that casual gamers should have a voice in crucible but that shouldnt take the more competitive players out of the game because of it
-
It shouldn't even be called SBMM. I get teammates with no thumbs while the other team has 10 thumbs, unfair.
-
11 RepliesOP doesn't even have any Crucible stats LMAO.

Edited by JungleofTaxemes: 11/17/2016 9:13:38 PMY1 says hi. People managed just fine back then, amazingly. If you want even matches you aren't casual, literally you are competitive. If you go to a BBQ and you all play catch or frisbee, and 1 or 2 of you are sporty, do you stop them playing? No, because they can be casual and good at sports, and that is asinine. If you want even matches play private matches.
-
I'm no where near pub stomp level of Crucible skill (my K/D can show that so inspect if you want) however, I'm towards the bottom of the skill tree on my friends/fireteam. I stopped playing Crucible with them because I got tired of going .67 or worse. This is because SBMM puts us up against folk that are on par with my friends. If we removed SBMM, I'd have a shot of being able to enjoy Crucible with my friends again.

1 ReplyEdited by RichardPictures3: 11/17/2016 1:55:56 AMGo with a team of 5 others with 1.5 KDs and up like a did a few weeks ago. It was a complete laggy -blam!-fest. Absolutely unplayable. The top players don't want to pub stomp. They want clean smooth games. That's all!! Anyone saying keep skbmm is scared shitless for some reason. Try getting a few higher skilled players into some private matches. You'd be surprised on how nice most of them are. If you stop whining and actually treat them like human beings. Most of them are gamers just like us and are just talented Most will gladly teach you some shit too.

2 RepliesThe main point of removing SBMM is to remove some of the lag, not stomping the skrubs
-
30 RepliesSo protect the lazy and poor players But screw the skilled players with tons of practice under their belts?
-
2 RepliesWe should protect the casual workers too. Why should they be treated any different if they just want to casually work an hour a week.
-
Downvoted. Casuals can still be highly skilled.
-
I see many valid points on both sides here. All this SBMM vs CBMM is nothing but BS. No dedicated server means forever LAG. Hell Hillary can get a server in her basement & Bungie can't get one to play a game that's BS. The nerfs are the problem, trying to make every dam weapon, armor & class balanced is BS. Take the Doctrine Adept. Work your ass off to get to light house so Bungie can nerf the gun 3 times. See this is the same problem as political correctness. This is what Bungie has turned in to. Every thing has to be equal or some thumb sucking bed wetting baby will cry. Let them cry
-
i see what your trying to say but bungie cant just think about casuals, the "hardcore" players have such a horrible time, if there were a sbmm playlist and a cbmm playlist that would solve it but that wont happen till destiny 2 (hopefully) so for now get rid of sbmm or tone it down a bit, i understand that the casuals dont wanna get pub stompped but thats not every game it would be a mix every time so i plead the casuals to vote with the elites to do something about sbmm and when destiny 2 releases hopefully there will be a better matchmaking system

SBMM promotes lag from distance. People are sick of laggy games with red bar ads clowns teleporting all over.
-
So only cater to the lower skill spectrum and continue to fućk over the higher skill. That's funny, and s ok me one just told me that the people that don't like SBMM only care about their own experiences. I hate some of this community with a burning passion. I have no idea why I bother wasting my time on this forum. I guess at the end of the day I'm just as stupid as the people posting threads on defending SBMM.
-
15 Repliesyes, you're completely right. SBMM is literally that easy mode button. When you have the option of what difficulty to select, and press easy, thats the equivalent of SBMM. Is playing like a scrub, against scrubs going to get you anywhere at all? is there a single element of progress what so ever?
-
"Protect me bungie, they're mean to me in the crucible uh uh uh" lol you sound so pathetic bro, dude we all got stomped at one point but we didnt bitch about .. we improved and that what u should do instead of crying for weaker opponents
-
"Protect the casuals" while simultaneously alienating the people who learned it all the hard way, put in all the hard work and the dudes that show the casuals how to do their raids etc. It's simple. The more hardcore players leave, the casuals then need to step up and fill the void. And only about 0.001% of them can. SBMM has to go.
-
"Besides the elitists love and follow the bad players. If you listen to them and force us to go play someyhing else, their precious ratio will go lower and they will also switch game. Again, the same thing that happened to COD." Ummm yesh... you see how much money they make on COD titles right?? Capitalism is alive and well. They will follow the money... i mean same path..

11 RepliesThis game already caters TOO strongly to casual players. They watered down elite loot so that almost all loot is pretty much average so nobody has a weapon advantage over you. They questified everything so you can get everything others can get, even though you may put in less time into the game. Vender loot is roughly equivalent to endgame loot. They make the endgame loot lower quality so you are not at a disadvantage if you don't run the raid- thereby removing ANY incentive we have to actually repeatedly play the endgame content. They make exotics drop like ammo through the use of 3oC, and they make them drop from ANY ultra so you don't need to step foot in anything that is actually challenging to get pretty much every exotic in the game (and the one's you can't get aren't even worth getting anyways). All these changes pretty much destroyed how fun the game was back in Y1 and has completely ruined the game for me. And now you are asking for MORE special treatment? I think you have been "protected" enough, probably in ways you don't even realize.

your comment about more people playing pvp now than in year one is totally out the window.. yesterday only 340k players played pvp.. and in year one, by christmas there was 25 million players who had purchased the game.. hard to believe there wasn't several million playing pvp on any given day.
