Last week, I completed a the raid 5 times (3 times for rewards, twice to help out friends) and EVERY RAID i went into, someone would moan at me for using sleeper simulant instead of gjallarhorn/iron gjallarhorn) People should know by now that sleeper does so much more damage than gjallarhorn, as ghorn took a big nerf before the dlc dropped.
Basically, if you have sleeper, USE IT. It's the second most damaging weapon at asksis, only losing to the cannons. To get the most damage use 3x sleepers 3x cannons, weapons of light, tether and Viking funeral. so much damage
GHORN IS NOT AS GODLY AS IT WAS IN YEAR 1

3 RepliesI'm still gonna use ghorn. It's much more versatile than the sleeper.
by the way remember when people called sleeper simulant "sleeper stimulant?"
-
Agree. Sleeper is awesome for dps.

1 ReplyEdited by WulfPak666: 10/5/2016 12:00:05 AMHere is how I see it.. Use Sleeper if you want something big to die. Use Gjallarhorn if you want a lot of things to die.
-
2 RepliesUm no the diff in damage between the 2 werent big enough to make one better than the other. Use what you have. And fyi. Sniper over those shit exotics
-
SS Warlock with cannon > Everything else
-
3 RepliesPretty sure raze lighter does more to aksis than sleeper.. but thats none of my business...
-
Gally is more versatile and a safer option since it's pretty hard to miss, and is better for adds/non-boss purposes. Cannon beats everything.
-
Shooting on the move >>> having to be precise.
-
6 RepliesEdited by DatSaintsBoy: 10/4/2016 7:23:53 PMIt should be better in DPS, but Ghorn is "safer" to use since you don't need to go for precision kills. Also, ghorn is more multi purpose than sleeper. I'd say, in terms of raid, use ghorn up until Aksis. (Use ghorn in the vosik fight since sometimes he turns around and you can't get precision hits. Even on Aksis, I'd keep 3 teammates, preferably those that will grab cannons in the last phase, on ghorn, for captains, with the rest on sleeper.

Edited by dougisjericho: 10/4/2016 11:44:25 PMYeah, if you hit all your shots as critical. If you can stand still and aren't taking fire. Datto just did an incredible video on this, and the difference is not that significant. Either is a viable option.
-
1 ReplyPlayers that continue to comment on the Gjallarhorn damage just don't get it. Yes, the Gjallarhorn doesn't do as much damage as it did in year 1, But it is not just about the damage. What else does the Gjallarhorn do? It BLOWS STUFF UP. I mean, seriously, it makes a humongous blast which sends bits of the enemy flying into space. That is still one of the most satisfying sights in Destiny.

Both are good, I rock a gally on hunter and ss on titan

This is the NERF police. Good to know, citizen. We'll be taking a look at this "Sleeper Simulant" in the next "balancing."
I really like to use " " I feel they really drive home the point.
-
16 RepliesDatto did a very thorough video on this and sleeper clearly dominated.
-
Cover your ears! Don't let him use his logic against you!
-
The only thing to argue this is, ghorn can be used to take out hoards of enemies for the entire raid... where sleeper you soley basing the DPS stat on 1 final boss. Ghorn>sleeper for all around better usage.

Edited by joey big guns: 10/4/2016 11:03:20 PM"Why aren't you using Ghorn, are you stupid?!?" -The people who say that must be the same ppl who would ask for 335s to run HM VoG. 😂
-
Only if you hit crits...some people don't know how to aim to make it useful
-
11 RepliesI heard the outbreak is better at the final boss. Is this true? I have very little raid experience (one completion) and any info is helpful.
-
1 ReplyMy exotic weapon slot is filled with the outbreak prime now. So beastly. I'm also usually the guy shooting the cannon so not an issue.
-
34 RepliesWe found that Raze Lighter did more damage to the boss than anything else (cannons/Sleeper/Gally), hands down, with Dark Drinker coming in a close second. And you have more ammo per charge.
-
3 RepliesI don't like using Sleeper because of how situational it is. I'd rather use a Gjallarhorn to take out Captains, or even preferably a Raze-lighter, but you can't always put down DPS with Raze Lighter. So basically, Gjallarhorn for the versatility.
-
It doesn't do vastly more than gally. Besides, gally has much better versatility than sleeper
-
Edited by Art Vandelay: 10/4/2016 10:25:47 PMI think Raze Lighter is actually the King of PvE right now. Especially with Memory of Radegast.
-
4 RepliesBut it's Gjallarhorn. That makes it better than everything else. Fact.
no sarcasm
4 RepliesEveryone i just want to know one thing. When comparing the dps datto only used weps of light and tether for sleeper i think but not for gjally One more thing guys weps of light works with sleeper but not gjally. Finally I didn't see him use gjallarhorn when the boss was tethered. Tether works with gjally. The wolf pack rounds also does criteria damage when the boss is tethered.
