Let's Talk About The Postmaster
OK Bungie, thanks for making every activity rain engrams like a pinata being smashed by Barry Bonds, we really do appreciate it. Here's the thing, they really screw up the postmaster.
Please make the postmaster operate like this:
- Green class items can't push anything out of the postmaster.
- Blue items can't push anything legendary or exotic out of the postmaster.
- Legendary items can't push exotics out of the postmaster.
If you could do that, it would be really great.

87 RepliesOk, after reading a lot of the comments on this thread, there's a bigger issue here: Why the hell don't you people have space in your vault to store everything you could possibly need and then some?! You have 108 slots for guns in the vault, plus 90 more weapon slots among your 3 characters. 198 freakin weapon slots! 198!!! (Even more for armor!!!) At most, you can use 9 guns at one time (primary, special, heavy, x3 characters). Typically on my main character, I rotate between 3 of each type of gun depending on the type of activity I'm engaged in. That's 9 guns I typically use on one character on a regular basis. 27 guns among all characters if that pattern is repeated for my two other characters. Even if you upped that to a 5 gun rotation of each type for each character, that's only 45 guns. That means you would have approximately 153 guns spots left over (if you were completely full) for weapons you aren't actively using. Even if you had one of each gun from each raid, one of every exotic weapon, plus a handful of your favorite legendary weapons, it's still hard to imagine running out of space. What is the point of holding onto so many weapons and pieces of armor that you'll NEVER USE AGAIN?! Bungie has made it pretty clear that your old gear isn't going to be relevant ever again, so why hold on to it? (I understand collecting raid gear and exotics, I did the same thing. That's not what I'm talking about because there's more than enough space available.) The point I'm making is this: if you can't let go of a gun from year 1 that you haven't used since, than A) you have a problem, and B) you have no right to complain because you alone have created the problem for yourself.

1 ReplyMy problem is that the Post-master Cap is counter-intuitive to Bungie's Game design. Example: The Vanguard Strike Buff requires 3 stacks to reach the maximum effect. After that, you need to play a 4th strike to ream the benefits you worked so hard for. Lets say you get about 4 blue engrams a strike, and 2 blue drops from the boss. After 4 strikes, your postmaster will be 3/4ths full and you're in danger of losing items. Then you jet back to the tower and lose the strike buff just to make sure you didn't lose a possible legendary engram along the way.

It seems to me that people are missing to point here, the original post makes perfect sense. I was running the wrath of the machine on Tuesday night and picked up enough engrams to open my own ctryptarch store, I did however delete all greens as and when I picked them up. The thing is there were hundreds still on the floor, bye the time we finished aksis off it was extremely late and I didn't think to delete some of the blues I had picked up in order to collect the raid rewards as I thought I'll just get them from the postmaster. How wrong was i not only did I have around 45 engrams on my character (including exotics and legendarys) but I had 20 in the postmaster. Of which I received 1 of the raid rewards and all others were Blue. I therefore agree with the op that something does need to be done to stop the loss of higher level engrams over Blue ones.

That is such a good idea. The other day I had gloves I really needed to level up in the very last slot. If I hadn't ranked up they would have been lost.

I dont think ive ever had a green go to the post master. I never let mine fill up. Most i think ive had is probably 7. Its not worth the risk of losing loot.

I don't know why you people get greens in your postmaster, I haven't gotten a green in there since either the first 2 weeks of TTK, if not then, some time in Y1
