Can we talk about silver dust?
Bungie got micro transactions perfect for the April update, granted I'd rather not have them at all but how they handled them was great. You could get 3 boxes a week. I manged to get full taken and spectacular gear plus both ships and sparrow in just a month and a half using free boxes.
Fast forward to now, we get one box a week. Containing one ornament and one silver dust, that's fine and dandy. It'll just take some time to get the ornaments I want.
Silver dust doesn't just stop there though, your iron lord, trials and raid armor both require silver dust to apply ornaments. 25 to be exact.
So yeah, if you don't dismantle your ornament you receive you'll be waiting 25 weeks to unlock the best looking armor in the game, for one character, for one set. Across all 3 characters there are 9 sets, each requiring 25 silver dust. That's 225 weeks. Or like 4 and a half years.
Even if you dismantled ever ornament you got and put it towards your armor it would take around 10 months to do all the ornaments on all characters. And you would have 0 weapon ornaments.
Well it's just cosmetic right? Sure, have fun walking around in rags while people are walking around looking like badass flaming wolf's.
I also forgot to mention that you need 6 iron lord ornaments in addition to the 25 dust. Currently the only known way to get them is to pray to rng that the one box you get a week has one in it. Which is unlikely considering it's not a guaranteed item.
They seriously went to far this time.

I think it's kind of funny how much Bungie hyped up weapon and armor ornaments before release. Yet they decided not to mention how strongly ornaments would be tied to micro transactions.
Also I'm not bashing micro - transactions, I'm bashing how they were implemented.

Sure, now it's just cosmetic, just wait and see where it goes next. Something people don't seem to relize is that the packages the sold after the April update contained gear with randomized rolls. Meaning you could buy boxes until you got the perfect perks on your gear.
FYI, that's not just cosmetic. That's giving actually a fairly significant advantage. Not to mention the rep boosters they are selling now.
More rep = more gear = faster level up/ higher chance to get better weapons/ armor.[/b]

I actually did spend $20 on silver. $20 isn't really that much to me and I play Destiny enough to drop a deuce on it for some cool stuff. But when I saw that it takes 25 silver dust to buy one from xur and 2 ornaments to upgrade one armor piece? Lol. I was done. That's some bullshit.

To make cosmetics a purchase requirement is understandable, they are a business. But to make the cosmetics themselves RNG effected is frankly absurd. You can't buy what you want, instead you have to turn a giant roulette thT runs on money. Bungie needs to learn to sell cosmetics individually, the sparrow sets was perfect, you got *literally* what you wanted because it ruled out what you had prior. I've always fallen into the "gotta have em all" category, and would always be willing to fork over cash, but this DLC just screams gamble with all the free options to acquire treasure being limited to once a week. Especially since ornaments were so strongly advertised alongside the DLC....

When did we find out that you need so much silver dust just to equip the armor that Bungie exclusively advertised? After the dlc came out. And just wait until iron banner drops. If I recall correctly they advertised that Saladin will sell iron engrams with old iron banner stuff. However, again after the dlc came out, the patch notes said he would sell it for silver dust. Hello pay to win. That was fast.

2 RepliesI have the money to spare to buy the micro transactions but I don't want to because for 1 reason they are a waste of money especially when I should be able to just earn them in game, and two I don't want to support shitty ass micro transactions. -blam!- you bungie for doing this shit, it feels almost like the bullshit black ops 3 supply drops.

Unfortunately, game marketers have gotten the mark of their customer base and know exactly what we as a group will pay for. It's a sad but true fact. As much as I do quite like the appearance of the gear, and [i]can[/i] afford the silver, I'm not buying into the extra costs (excuse the pun). Given my experience with the awful rng giving out duplicates last year, I sure as hell don't want to justify Bungie's business plan.

Edited by Kash: 9/24/2016 7:29:25 PMIf you think about it the Iron Lord armor set with Iron Lord Ornaments is pretty much impossible to get for Free. 1 Box per week Pray to RNG for 7 Iron Lord Ornaments Over Two months worth of time to achieve that and that's only if you get LUCKY. Not to mention this is only on character. It could take up to a full year to get the entire iron lord set for free for all 3 characters... Wow Bungie -blam!-ed us good

Spended 15 euros to get at least 2 iron lords ornaments for the chest piece, got only 1,no more money from me to them... Couldn't care less about weapons skins -.-

4 RepliesThe DLC was a measly $29.00. Pretty cheap overall. Spending an extra $10 an these kind of perks is no biggy for the total value. Especially compared to how most other games completely rip you off with in game purchases. IMOP

3 RepliesI said the exact same thing. The fact that you can only get ONE radiant treasure a week and only one Silver Dust is bullshit. They didn't even make it so you could buy ornaments from Xur with Strange Coins. Instead they make it so idiots actually have to spent money on them.
