Bungie got micro transactions perfect for the April update, granted I'd rather not have them at all but how they handled them was great. You could get 3 boxes a week. I manged to get full taken and spectacular gear plus both ships and sparrow in just a month and a half using free boxes.
Fast forward to now, we get one box a week. Containing one ornament and one silver dust, that's fine and dandy. It'll just take some time to get the ornaments I want.
Silver dust doesn't just stop there though, your iron lord, trials and raid armor both require silver dust to apply ornaments. 25 to be exact.
So yeah, if you don't dismantle your ornament you receive you'll be waiting 25 weeks to unlock the best looking armor in the game, for one character, for one set. Across all 3 characters there are 9 sets, each requiring 25 silver dust. That's 225 weeks. Or like 4 and a half years.
Even if you dismantled ever ornament you got and put it towards your armor it would take around 10 months to do all the ornaments on all characters. And you would have 0 weapon ornaments.
Well it's just cosmetic right? Sure, have fun walking around in rags while people are walking around looking like badass flaming wolf's.
I also forgot to mention that you need 6 iron lord ornaments in addition to the 25 dust. Currently the only known way to get them is to pray to rng that the one box you get a week has one in it. Which is unlikely considering it's not a guaranteed item.
They seriously went to far this time.
Rant over.
Edit: Also for anyone saying how I'm entitled and want hand outs.
I think it's kind of funny how much Bungie hyped up weapon and armor ornaments before release. Yet they decided not to mention how strongly ornaments would be tied to micro transactions.
Also I'm not bashing micro - transactions, I'm bashing how they were implemented.
Edit: Everyone is saying it's just cosmetic.
Sure, now it's just cosmetic, just wait and see where it goes next. Something people don't seem to relize is that the packages the sold after the April update contained gear with randomized rolls. Meaning you could buy boxes until you got the perfect perks on your gear.
FYI, that's not just cosmetic. That's giving actually a fairly significant advantage. Not to mention the rep boosters they are selling now.
More rep = more gear = faster level up/ higher chance to get better weapons/ armor.

1 ReplyI get what you are saying but Jesus tapdancing Christ... ITS COSMETIC AND ITS A CHOICE! You aren't gonna get more kills in the Crucible cause you look hot and have a black Monte Carlo! I don't know why everyone feels so helplessly obligated to empty their wallets on this stuff. Please, get a grip on yourselves.

33 RepliesI'm more pissed that you're more likely to get certain things from the boxes. I bought $100 worth of boxes and opened them all got both zhalo skins at least 10 times. Didn't get the ornament I wanted which was the golden hawkmoon one. Now I'm sitting on like 300 silver dust and xur sold trash this week.

1 ReplyRadiant Treasures need to be three per week. I'm probably not going to level my book up too much, so I will need to get the Iron Lord Ornaments from Treasures. I need some for the helmet, cloak, and boots, with the helmet requiring two and the cloak and boots requiring one each, I believe. Let's say I get an ornament every other box. That will take 8 weeks the way it is now. If it is three per week, that will take maybe 3 weeks. But, let's face it. I won't be that lucky. It's going to take forever to just look cool! I don't want to spend $50 dollars for some fire on my skin! I'm also considering getting the ornaments on my other characters. At least, I WAS considering it. I bet one treasure is equivalent to the one second of thought they put into this. Tl;dr Three treasures per week please!
The luckiest seven you will ever meet
The biggest reason why I'll never buy silver is that it's bungie.
-
It took me a couple of minutes to realize I will never get the ornament version cuz I'm not about to give money to Buttgie for that shit.
-
14 RepliesLook, it's time the community woke up to the fact that bungie is taking the absolute piss out of you, and protest with your wallets. The game isn't so good that you can't live without it, it's actually pretty average.

Bungie did not get micro transactions perfect with the April update. The April update made the micro transactions pay to win. And now with rise of iron it is much worse. Bungie needs to remove micro transactions from the game entirely.

2 RepliesYea I know what mean, My parents get me xbox cards every year for my birthday which was late week. so i used it to get some silver and open some of those packs. I really wanted the regal monte Carlo one and the spec ops mida one. Got neither it was $20 worth of silver. I got for nemesis star ones (don't have one) three of the same telesto ornaments (have one now but not at that time) then four trespasser ornaments (don't have one either) I got others but what the hell?? Why would they hand you multiple of the same ornaments?? Sure got allot of silver dust but I don't think it was really worth it...

I've earned 3 treasures and bought 5... one iron lord ornament... this is gonna get pricey! Whooo!

10 RepliesWelcome to current gen gaming. It's big business now, so the vultures are circling. They are greedy, ruthless, and without mercy. They are pro in extracting every penny from your wallet, and every ounce of your dignity, whilst maintaining a friendly 'we're best buds' vibe. The sad thing is you can literally see it happening and most people are either to naive or to corrupted themselves to acknowledge reality. Good luck out there. Oh yeah..... STOP -blam!-ING PRE-ORDERING... Peace!

6 RepliesDo you know Xur sells ornaments that you can break down into star dust? No micro transactions plus the weekly box we all win.

1 ReplyEdited by AyokaiW: 9/26/2016 6:00:46 AMAm I the only one that remembers someone data mining the silver/treasures/boosters durng early TTK era, the forum blowing up with pay to win arguments after finding Crucible/vangaurd rep boosters, Bungie employee stating they were not going to sell boosters, and...am now seeing boosters being sold at Eververse.... Tell me I'm not crazy here. I swear there were like, 20 posts a day about that shit and it actually happened and no one is calling Bungie out on their bold faced lie. Well not a lie, more like a backstab to the face. Cosmetics are fine. Those are always and will forever be fine. You can't win a Crucible match dancing or tapping your toe. However, you can win by grinding strikes with a rep booster, lvl up factions probably 5x a day and find that perfect roll. I can deal with that thanks to the horrible RNG and re-rolling doesn't exists anymore and you get boosters free from leveling up Iron Banner book :3 ....and hold onto the fragile belief that Bungie had to add them cause of Activision. Edit: Iron Banner book and faction packages

1 ReplyHold up, why 25? I got the 1 I wanted (telesto blue glow) and I only needed 1 dust
-
1 ReplyBump, I feel like this was slightly activisions influence

Let's talk about sex baby. Let's talk about you and me.

They advertised those armors with ornaments so much, and they're harder to get than exotics than in Vanilla. It's a shame. However. The expansion is still new and we're still learning about stuff. For all we know, trials and iron banner loot could be ornaments. We could be able to buy an ornament possibly when we're rank 5 in IB or get a guaranteed ornament when opening up the chest in the lighthouse. It all depends how rare they are in the end game.

Edited by Salt: 9/26/2016 1:50:39 AMI agree, do people not realize destiny microtransactions are getting worse every year? It'll be pay to win one day and everyone is gonna rant when most of them used their money for silver LOL and bungie overhyped the ornaments just for them to be obtained through RNG and luck only Destiny fanboys would disagree with this
-
Can we talk about the mail, please, Mac? I've been dying to talk about the mail with you all day, OK?
-
5 RepliesYou silly bastard. You really think people in this forum will agree with a logical and rationally thought out argument? You didn't even use numb3rs for letters when typing. I think I even saw proper punctuation. You, sir, need to find somewhere else to go if you plan on sharing thoughts in a respectful manner.
-
I guarantee half of the people, if not more, who said "it's just cosmetic" bought the packages. The other ones are acting like they don't care that they can't make their characters look cool without paying money.
-
9 RepliesAs long as they dont sell anything that gives players an advantage in PvP or the raids, I don't care. Not too crazy about them selling the lvl 40 characters, because we had to grind, but that doesn't really give players an advantage over others. As far as the ornaments go, there are tons of games that sell unique character skins or cosmetic gear. It's just the way games market now. The price of games hasn't gone up with this generation, so they meet inflation with dlc and microtranactions.

2 RepliesTo answer your pay to win argument: yes you can keep rolling for the gear with the perks you want but you know what else you can do? Play the -blam!-ing raid every week to roll for gear because it's not like kings fall is hard if you know what you're doing. As for rep boosters you can already buy rep boosters and it's not pay to win in pvp so it doesn't matter honestly unless you can't get to 370 because you're too lazy to grind omnigal to 365 before doing the raid.
