So as a thank you to my assistant, I rolled by Gamestop and pre-ordered in full the Collection edition for him. (Ive been playing since november 2014, RIP Randal). As I was paying the 59.99, I realised I was buying him a game that pretty much has a great level of content at this point, which for a moment kind of perturbed me. Most of us have alot of money invested so far, and I tasted just a bit of salt. Then I realized, It's all been worth it. It's been a little bit of a struggle, but the relationships I have forged through destiny, and the experinces I have had make the monetary aspect hold no weight. Now, I'm just happy to bring a new Kindergaurdian (Iron Pup) into the light, and pass on the experience to him. May RNGeezus bless all of you come Tuesday, Guardians. Let's funk shit up.
Edit: So somehow, we have decided to start calling our new guardians "Iron Pups." Spread the word lol.
Edit 2: Crashin out folks. Wanted to say thank you for a positive thread. Alot of fun discussions sprouted around and it made for a fun day. I wish y'all a wonderful conquest come 2am PDT on Tuesday, and should this thing still be going in the AM, i'll be back.
Edit 3: 777 replies. At 4:20pm. Winning.

1 ReplyEdited by xDeFalt: 9/20/2016 7:36:51 PMMy issue with this collection nonsense, is that everything prior to the newest dlc is pointless and serves no purpose. All the previous dlc gear is useless, the raids are pointless, the activities reward subpar items. If everything in the game was relevant than it would be a great deal, but only the most current itteration and dlc is relevant(and whatever bits and pieces of gear brought forward) so it's pretty much just you using another $35 on useless stuff. Its better than paying for everything separately if you're starting new obviously, but they act like you're getting this huge adventure to play when in reality you missed the boat completely and aren't even going to play a good 90% of the old stuff due to its lack of relevance.

195 RepliesEdited by CovertMcgirt: 9/19/2016 5:36:03 PMDestiny University Alpha/Beta testers Day 1ers Vanilla Veterans Christmas noobs (TDB) KinderGuardians (HOW) Taken Tots (TTK) Iron Pups (ROI) Did I miss a grade? Edit: Added tots but wasn't sure if they are a grade above Kinderguadians or not Edit 2: Added Vanilla veterans Guardians that started playing after day 1 but before Christmas in year one Edit 3: -Added dlc equivalent for easier distinction. May be some exceptions pending approval. -Alpha and Beta are the same. Alpha just graduated at the top of their class Disclaimer You will always have this designation Guardians. This establishes when you joined Destiny for all time to come. As time goes on, new terms will be coined signifying your underclass men. Please treat each other with respect and no hazing of the new class.

Thought "iron infants" was already agreed

2 RepliesSo I started playing in the beta until the taken king on 360 but I am starting fresh for ROI on PS4. Am I an Iron Pup?
-
91 RepliesNot including Silver, most of us are at least into the game for $165. Iron pups can never buy 2 years worth of experience for the $105 that they saved. They can't buy the bonds that we made. They can't buy the friendships earned. They can't buy the experience of racing between patrol areas to open the Wolve's treasure chests. They can't buy thae feeling of Crota chasing you into the Crystal room, when you thought you were in the clear. They can't buy the tension of the Lost to Light secret mission, on a timer, under leveled, with no idea what was about to drop into their hands. They can't buy Dinklebot. They can't buy 7's coming off an enemy from the Thorn. They can't buy a Solar Wind punch from a teamate that sends you off the edge at the Templar. They can't buy those laughs. They can't buy our memories. They can have all that content for $105 less than us... but the can't have it the way we had it. I'm cool with that. :D

Haha Iron Pups! Winning!

1 ReplyThe first guy that said "winning" really isn't winning now... And BTW you said "winning" and now we all have Space AIDS!!! Coincidence??? ;) I like you don't regret spending a dime on anything Destiny related!!! Grind On Guardian!!!!!

1 ReplyIron Ignots

You know ... It just hurts so much . I could have sworn we all said we were going to be calling them Iron McNuggets . If you wanted to call themselves something else you should have said so from the beginning .
-
Should be iron infants in my opinion

Bumpity👍

4 RepliesI have no idea where I fit in. I started playing after Crota dropped, and after the Christmas season, but before HOW. First time in VOG, group leader told us not to use our mics cause the Gorgon's would hear us and wipe us. We all silently snuck through. After we passed the area, group leader laughed and was like, "nah you can talk, just don't shoot them." Had a good laugh after that. And really, I don't mind the cost. I met my core group of Xbox Live friends in TTK Hard almost a year ago. We have a Facebook chat, and talk/game daily. Hell, my wife asks each day if I'm getting on with the guys tonight. We haven't met in person, but I'd take a bullet (and have in Destiny) for anyone of them.

Way better name than taken tots.

1 ReplyIt's totally been worth it. I think, if I divide the money invested (including silver purchased) by the hours played, it amortizes out to about $0.001 per hour. Now that's a hell of a lot cheaper than going to the movies, and I still have money left over for pizza and beer.

Beta on my xbox acc, TDB on this. Ive had so many memories and friends. 3 clans, 3 raids, thousands of guns, all the rage of going 8-1, the countless hours of iron banner. all the motes spent making the perfect gun, the time when thorn was once the worst exotic but i still loved it and used it no matter what. ALL of this, and more is well worth the money. The new players can keep their $100, because they wont get the same experiences ive had. in my eyes, money cant buy what i got.

1 ReplyEdited by RndmBluBerry: 9/19/2016 7:49:58 PMYour premise is all wrong. The reality is they missed out on a lot. Sure they have access to all the original content up to and including Rise of Iron. But they will never know the feeling you got in year 1 when gjallerhorn dropped for you. They will never understand the significance of disturbing the remains in the skywatch. Atheon cant be pushed and Crota cant have his plug pulled. The will never know the joys of having blue flames swirling around your head and the xp/rep boost it gave you. There is no more excitement when turning in bounties, hoping one of them will give you a new "exotic" bounty for a gun called Thorn or Pocket Infinity. Sure they may have heard the legend that was Thorn and Gjallerhorn. But they will never know the OPness that was the Vex Mythoclast and its baby brother - Pocket Infinity. Only Gjallerhorn can compete with the legends of those two fusion rifles in their pre-nerfs state.
