Happy play day! I had put off getting an xbone until day one of Destiny. I woke up that morning wondering what Destiny would be like, and a little bummed that I was missing the party. For me it was just another work day. I was sitting on the train, killing time on my way to work with my phone when it range. It was 6:30am and it was work. The nature of my job is such that generally if my phone rings when I'm not at work it means something bad happened and I'd be working long hours for a while. THIS morning was different though, and I was given the day off. Some people might be pissed that they woke up at 5 to get to work only to be told 30 minutes away from getting there that there had been a scheduling blunder, and not to come in. I; however, am an early riser and had a freshly minted 4 day long weekend stretching out in front of me. I hopped on the next northbound train and continued to kill time by looking to see if anything interesting was shaking down in Vancouver... there wasn't. I started browsing game stores to see what xbones were going for, as I was doing regularly then when I saw that if I bought a XB or PS4 I could get destiny free! Money wasn't tight, but it wasn't flowing by any stretch of the imagination, but I can be a bit impulsive at times. There was enough in the accounts to take the hit, pay day was coming soon... I just wouldn't be putting much asside that month. So I plotted a course to the nearest EB to my place, and stopped for breakfast at a park where I smiled at the unexpected promise of not only playing destiny but playing it on a next gen console. As it happens they were sold out of xbones. As were all of the stores within a reasonable drive. No sweat, it was only 10am... time was on my side. I went home and gathered ALL of my 360 things and games, then hopped on my computer to start tracking down an xbone. I drove 2 hours out and two hours back, but I had sold all my previous gen stuff and bought an xbone and Destiny for $75. Between the excitement of firing up a new console and a new game on launch day I was pretty contented. I made a new friend that day as well. None of my friends had converted to next gen yet so I looked for new people to share the experience with and started playing with my buddy's cousin who turned out to be a chill guy, and equally into gaming. Trolling, and complaining aside, there are some great experiences that go hand in hand with gaming. The industry and culture have gone through massive changes in a brief period of time. It's become a mainstream activity, and small devs have grown into a billion dollar industry. It's a fun ride, I've enjoyed it immensely. Remember, it's just a game but the people are real! Day 1 here! Stayed up late to play. I pressed X just as Deej pressed the Big Red Button and it went live. My first exotic was Monte Carlo. I was a total noob at PvP and I ate a lot of lead. My K/D was really, really bad. I worked at it and now it's decent. Remember saying this: "Who the hell will use an exotic rocket launcher?" Yes, I passed on Xur selling Gjallarhorn. It's been a ton of fun. See you out there, Guardians!

Alpha, Beta, and surprisingly here for the final stretch. Thank you! Figure I'll share my 1st Exotic story too. First exotic was an Icebreaker that I got from a Engram. Yes. An engram! From a Dreg in the Cosmodrome. I was showing my friend Destiny. Went to show him what Patrol mode was. Just landed, headed left, and a Dreg near the subway stairs gave me the wrong look. Shot him and saw an odd colored engram drop from him. Purple in color. Went to the Cryptarch and it turned into an Icebreaker! (That guy didn't want to give you ANYTHING in those days was...nigh impossible that guy. I STILL hate him today. I swear I used up all my RNG luck that day.) I remember thinking: "What is an Icebreaker? Looks ugly..." I even considered sharding/dismantling it. But...I gave it a chance. It never left my side ever since. People were SALTY that I got it too. Until Xur sold it I felt like Kirito from SAO. A solo player with this weapon that folks (at that time) believed to be nothing more than a rumor. I also was not in the "Earn your Exotics don't buy them crowd." Cause I never once felt that I "earned" my Icebreaker by shooting a Dreg in passing. That was like running over roadkill and being handed 1 million dollars. Lets hope D2 learns to take what was fun from yr 1 and yr 2 and combine it.

Ahhhhh. The good ol' days. When new things were discovered every day. Where Suros reigned supreme. Thorn was ass. "Wtf is a vex mythoclast?"

I cant mind being invested into a game as much as this. Some breaks along the way but one hell of a game. And one amazing community that is not like any others out there. Have been playin since Vanilla days and be a lot more.

Day one player here still got gjally and icebreaker....Anyone remember the loot cave lol
