Scan, Survey, and VIP kill patrol beacons are fairly easy to run into, can be finished in a minute, and reward 50 Vanguard reputation even without a class item that boosts vanguard gain. And with a fireteam of three you can ensure there's always someone grabbing a beacon as soon as one is done. In contrast to 150 reputation that you get from a strike which takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. What would you rather? 150 rep every 15 minutes, or 50 rep every minute or two? In the amount of time I can finish one strike, I can gain about 500 Reputation in patrol if I speed run it. It might not be your thing, but just because you don't feel like doing it, don't underestimate it.

It's just the most boring thing to do since day1, that's all. I'd rather eat the rotten asshole of a roadkilled skunk and down it with beer than purposely leveling vanguard ranks for shit guns no one really needs. But that's just my own opinion.

You can do planet wide grinding. Team of three, each in their own area alternating patrol missions til they're gone. Head to orbit and repeat. Powered through half my subclasses like that

Leveling up in patrols is a lot more fun than doing the same stupid strikes over and over gets annoying

Doing Patrol missions actually level up faster than Heroic Strikes do.

People looking to just PLAY the game for fun (I know it's -blam!-ing CRAZY) and especially don't feel like going to orbit constantly would be a good place to start. Farming rep with patrols only increases the enjoyment and reward.

Mostly because I like going places on Earth, and I need to get materials for my other characters.

Anyone who wants to rep up? Also, it's the best way to level up gear without using a mote of light.

It's faster to grind motes to level up than doing 100 patrol missions for one level up.

It will take you 2-3 days of major play time to get 100 motes if your lucky. 2 days of 1 hour playtime each while doing all 6 daily vagaurd bounties and hitting all the high rep patrol missions will get you 1 faction rank.That's about 2 hours total,of course per character, instead of 10-15 hours playtime.
