Package RNG can't be this bad
Hello destiny community, how's it going. I'm going to cut straight to the point here, I have gotten to a point at which I can no longer believe that I am just unlucky, or RNGesus is against me. I am not sure of the numbers exactly so I will give an approximation of how many packages I have opened, about 30-40 vanguard packages, and probably close to 80-90 crucible packages. I have yet to receive either a Longbow Synthesis, or an LDR 5001 from either, I have not even received a Zombie Apocalypse for that matter. There is a 1 in 22 chance in both the vanguard and crucible packages to get an LDR or Longbow. I gave up hope a long time ago but I can't believe that my RNG is that bad, curious if anyone else has this issue, or better yet if bungie can clarify if any of the guaranteed rewards have a greater drop rate because I swear It feels like I have gotten more armor pieces from packages then I have anywhere else.
Thanks for giving me your time, let me know if any of you are having this issue.
P.S. Please do not reply saying you have gotten "so many it's gotten annoying" or that "you have a bunch, but none have good rolls," that will only make people angry.

I guess you are just incredibly unlucky. :( Edit 1: I also ( at the beginning of TTK) got a god roll on Hung Jury SR4, and 1kYS God roll.

I have the same issue. I have been lucky enough with a few LDR's, but a vast majority of my packages have been Spektar Pandion Helmets. It really feels wrong to spend a good few hours working towards a rank up, only for Zavala to punch me in the gut with a helmet. I feel like the package reward system could use some adjustment to feel rewarding, and not just trying to make me wear a useless piece of armor.

My last 20+ packages summed up in one word....... Armour. I have had a longbow, badger ccl and lord high fixer once apiece but its been weeks since i have had anything other than armour. Vanguard and crucible packages are trolling me hard atm.

I'm back to getting only class items from House of Judgment packages. I can cross CoE/PoE off my list of things to do. So that leaves.....thinking.....I've got nothing left.

I managed to get the LDR, but every time I open a crucible package it gives me armour. So annoying

Edited by feyanin: 7/20/2016 2:23:35 PMRNG formula is totally secret. But there is a theory. Hold low attack heavy weapon before open package (if you want to get heavy of cource). Besides all other gear should have much more attack/defence. May be this trick will higher your chances to get what you want.

2 RepliesI've opened 5+ Crucible packages and 5+ Vanguard packages and have gotten blimmin bond after bond after bond. I'm fed up with these flippin bonds. I'd rather dismantle a terrible Longbow than another bond.

Still searching for zombie and badger... Weapons comes when you least expect them. RNG does suck, give us a tiered package option or something...# packages turned in gives you different items (I.e. 1 package = armor, 3 packages = weapons) Just an idea.

1 ReplyThis is why an option should be added that when you rank up, you chose a weapon or an armor package. It keeps the RNG aspect, but gives people a better chance to get what they want.

The last 5 crucible packages my Titan has received were Titan marks. 5 in a row is some bullshit for sure. It's not like I can easily rank up crucible either.

I've certainly had long, long stretches without getting at least a year one weapon from Crucible or Vanguard packages. It probably took 40-45 Vanguard packages before I got an LDR. I've had particularly poor luck with faction package rewards as well. I will consistently get the same piece of armor over and over with the same two stats rolled. Usually Disc/Strength Boots/Arms. I believe I went 34 packages with FWC in a row without a weapon while trying to get their TTK ship before it was officially announced to be bugged for many players.

I have ranked up my crucible around 76 times or so spread across my characters (to make sure the rng doesn't favour one character) and still haven't received a longbow.

I restarted my titan before last IB, in the last IB I hit ranks 1 through 3 and all 3 times I got longbow. though on my last titan 10 ranks in a row I got the zombie apocalypse

All I get is spekta pandion arms from crucible and legs from vanguard its disheartening when you get the same thing every time had a single tdyk bout two weeks back but its not all too good really want grim citizen or a sniper

Completely agreed. Some weapons have become desperately rare. Longbows, Lord high fixer, the devil you know, LDR etc. These weapons are insanely rare then you really need to win the RNG lottery and get a decent set of perks. It's far more common to be killed by an adept trials weapon than it is by a weapon that's been dropped from pvp. Every time I rank up vanguard or crucible I -blam!-ing pray. I beg. And it's a set of god damn boots. Pvp weapon drops are also insanely rare. I mean I have NEVER had an eyesluna. I have had 2 half decent party crashers. These weapons have been in the loot pool for a year. It's officially less time consuming to have a child than it takes to grind for an eyesluna.
