Who else never bothered to get an exotic sword?
I can't be the only one. Don't like swords and I don't feel like spending the hours finding the materials for the one part.
EDIT: Are there any shortcuts to do the two others if I actually manage to get one?
Update: After reading some helpful tips from the community, I managed to gather the rare materials I needed to complete that step in an hour, so today I'll get to run the strike and get my raze lighter and try it out.
Update 2: I got the raze-lighter! Used it while running relic on Oryx last night to take out the vessel...it's pretty beast. Once mayhem rolls around again I'll probably work on the ability kills for the others.

Nope I didn't feel like grinding for it , not a fan of the sword.

Yeah! couldn't be arsed with the grind. I remember having to farm materials on planets for hour's just to be able to upgrade a few weapons in order to play the game. [b]It wasn't fun and it wasn't an experience I was willing to recreate.[/b]

I have the void one up to the point where I have to run alar arkbar strike & I'm like really more shit to do! Left at that and definitely not going through all that again for the others... such a boring grind. Others I cba to do - No time to explain, sleeper simulant, Tom, spindle... think that's about it.

I already posted how I got my materials in 45-60 min For the 25 sword kills in crucible mayhem clash is great. If you have the previous new monarch heavy machine gun (the solar one) it melts the solar knight on the dark blade strike

I didn't for months, had all three missions poised at the Alak-Hul stage. Then just decided to get them done. Solar sword is awesome, Arc one is fun at range and Void one is still unfinished. No shortcuts, just get farming for those items :)

Oh yes! There actually is a shortcut! I tried this on my Warlock when I was helping a friend of mine, and it actually worked! Anyways, what I did was I just picked up the sword from Shaxx. Then I followed all of the prerequisites to trigger the quest (Datto has a video on it). Finally, when the quest is triggered, you won't have to do the: 25 guardian kills 50 Major kills And (the quest about killing the guy with the sword on the dreadnaught). This worked for me, and I hope it works for everyone else too. I think you had to have done at least 1 entire quest for a sword. Then, you can begin another sword on that same character you completed it on.

Dark Drinker is completely awesome. I haven't done the other tho. I barely use the sword anymore, but when I do it's super fun

For the other swords: For the part of the quest where you need kills with the sword you can use the sword you already have (Unless it was patched)

I got down to the last part and then looked at my exotic primaries and special weapons and was like "no thank you." That was how I decided to not get a sword. I'm sorry for those who wasted time to read this for something interesting. Bush did 911.

I play this game to kill shit and get guns. Getting a sword is a boner kill for me

I have one ( Bolt Caster) and I love it but I've just never really bothered with the other two. I have both of them at the point where I need to find the rare materials which is mind numbingly tedious and boring. I'll get them eventually though.

Never even attempted to get it my logic was why use an exotic slot on a sword that can't always be used to it's fullest potential
