How patriotic are you?

I thought I was really patriotic until I went to the Country 500 this weekend and saw this guy with American flag shoes, socks, shorts, tank top, hat, bandana, Cape, and tattoos on almost every inch of his body. It was rare that I would look over and he wasn't shotgunning a beer or screaming "America."

It's strange how patriotism is so often associated with conservatism. I love my country, which is why I'm not a Conservative. I value how necessary change is in order for my country to thrive and be as amazing as I know it can be. My country is amazing now because of the changes that have happened over the years. People being stuck in the past is the reason why things don't get better; they always seem so resistant to change and they end up dragging everything down. We should be moving forwards, not backwards. Unfortunately though, this whole generation seems to be about looking backwards through rose-tinted glasses to a time with 'better' music, fashion, politics, etc. and I fear this is because we've become too cynical about the present and lost our visions of the future.

I dream of what it was like during the years of Ronald Raygun when the largest threat were those commie bastards just a skip across the sea from us. Unfortunately, I have no faith in my generation as they are making terrible choices. Choices like socialism, political correctness and muh feels. I fear that I am witnessing the final years of my nation.
