Analysis of the top 100 Trials of Osiris players
I wanted to see if the April update had changed the meta in PvP.
Methodology
- I copied the list of the current top 100 Trials of Osiris players (The list changes every week) from Destiny tracker. I then cut and pasted each player into Libre Office's equivalent of Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet. I then went to Bungie's website and looked at each player's classes, subclasses and weapon loadout.
- Year 1 weapons and low light blue weapons were ignored (e.g. VOG weapons, Thorn etc) and were entered in as 'not applicable' (n/a).
- Classes / characters that were 'new' and did not have a fully-populated skill tree were also ignored. N.B – - Not all top 100 players have 3 characters.
- Some players just have one or have lower light duplicate class guardians. These do not factor into the spreadsheet either.
- Toughness / Speed / Battle recovery settings were included in plain english rather than using codex etc.
- The name Harrowed from Hard Mode Raid was ignored.
The layout of the spreadsheet
The first page is all the data of the top 100 players.
The more interesting bits are located at the bottom of the spreadsheet, where you will see different tabs/pages. The tabs / pages act like filters – so you gradually see a more focused picture of classes, subclasses and weapons.
Limitations of this research
It is an amateur attempt by someone with a visual learning disability. Data needs verifying by someone with good eyesight.
Data within Destiny is dynamic. It is not static but constantly changing and updating.
The perks / rolls on weapons and armor might skew the data.
100 players is a small data sample.
The suggested findings may not enhance the chances of getting to the Lighthouse.
I could use the same weapons and armor as the top players and still come bottom. :(
Every class and subclass can reach the lighthouse.

Oh reader mine, it seems the truth has come out. You Guardians have now fully recognized the best subclass, in its weakest state yet. They call me a BladeDancer by Trade, Oh reader mine...
-
Eyasluna is up there! I am pleased with this post
-
Favoriting this. This is good data.
-
That's impressive data collection and summation. What pops out to me in the summary is how much focus there is on movement in people's builds . Look at videos posted by some top PvP players, and what makes them stand out is they now how to use movement and the environment to their advantage. What gun they use is more the icing than than the cake.

7 RepliesVoidwalkers are so good, yet no one uses them! With Nothing Manacles, they are even better! #VoidwalkerMasterRace #WarlockMasterRace

4 RepliesIt be nice to see those 100 players internet statistics / ping / etc

Wow that's a lot of work...
-
2 RepliesYou must have alot of free time on your hands
-
Good Job :)
-
Bubble more popular than hammers? haha, says it all.
-
Awesome info
-
26 RepliesThis really shows how not OP Nightstalker is, and how the top 1% haven't changed anything but an exotic armor and a primary.
-
The first error you made was use destiny tracker over guardian gg they run on different systems
-
3 RepliesInteresting. Most of the top 100 Trials players are hunters you say? LOL Thank you for backing me up on #HunterMasterRace! :D
-
5 RepliesDon't really care what the sweatiest people in the game use, as it means absolutely nothing to me, the average player. Just because some sweaty beast is using a gun or set up, doesn't mean I can. Would be interested to see results on the average guardian, see what the vast majority of people use while playing the game instead of the sweaty few I have no chance of matching. Good job all the same though for folk who want to copy the sweaties.

5 RepliesTo some or most in the top 100, you know who I am and who I'm with, listen. There is an infestation of bad spirits now on earth, they are growing stronger through very clever description finely woven into every aspect of our human dimension. I was at one point also chosen to bear certain spiritual "upgrades/powers" to then use them how I wanted, to gain notoriety, advancement and respect. Once I realized where this power came from it turned on me especially when I prayed. I say all this not to start problems but to help save people, to save every one not just certain people because we are all humans who deserve the best. Not all will agree maybe only some or one and I'm ok with that. Truth is I didn't know how bad the evil spiritual infestation was in gaming or elsewhere was until it was unveiled and only through the true Light of God does this dark principality begin to manifest and reveal itself. These entities will give you gifts, they will seem kind, sincere and seem to care, they will adapt the deception to perfectly fit your personality, all the while destroying every link between you and the true source of Light and power, the true comforter, the real giver of gifts that is say to say the Holy spirit. When you try to leave the possession it will give all it can to keep you happy and under it's command, then when you one day wake up to realize who you really have been conversing with and you truly struggle to break free it will follow you, it will posses people to hate you, it will try to stain your name and reputation, it will harass you mentally, spiritually and through humans (gang stalking etc). Even then fear not, the Light and the holy Creator still await you. There are consequences for our decisions, I'm only trying to free our race from this infestation in the ways I can. Don't be deceived.

1 ReplyEdited by Troubled Bison: 5/17/2016 5:11:30 PMReally cool information man. Thanks a lot for compiling it! I'm surprised that so many hunters use bones of eao.
-
3 RepliesI mean just look at the sunbreaker number . It just needs a buff
-
This just means what they have on, just because they have defender titan doesn't mean they use it in pvp it just says they used that class last. I bet they were probably doing a raid. Defender titans use suppressor grenades(i think that's their name) in pvp to cancel specials so this 'reasearch' is flawed. This doesn't correlate very well. It says most players use bladedancers but they might have used their bladedancer before(year1) but just stopped using it and use a warlock or a titan now that bladedancers aren't at a good spot. Just because someone has something wielded doesn't necessarily mean they use it in trials. Use guardian gg instead instead of destiny tracker.

Great work....

#1 weapons still doctrine and 1000 yard..... LOL clearly nerfs did nothing

13 RepliesThis is not an analysis. It is the demographics of the top 100 players. This is not research in anyway. There are no IV's, there is no statistical analysis (I would suggest multiple regression for this), it is simply looking at the demographics of the participants. Nice try though. An interesting thing would be to correlate things like kills per game, time per game, team composition, choice of gear change, etc. All of those things could be correlated to the win percetange of each single match trying to find how much variance each variable accounts for and what gives the best predictor. Just being a hunter and having the aforementioned set up predicts nothing.

This is awesome! Thank you
-
Damn dude you definitely got the college education going on. Research limitations, sample size, nice to see this applied to something that actually interests me lol

3 RepliesBump for later please
