Analysis of the top 100 Trials of Osiris players
I wanted to see if the April update had changed the meta in PvP.
Methodology
- I copied the list of the current top 100 Trials of Osiris players (The list changes every week) from Destiny tracker. I then cut and pasted each player into Libre Office's equivalent of Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet. I then went to Bungie's website and looked at each player's classes, subclasses and weapon loadout.
- Year 1 weapons and low light blue weapons were ignored (e.g. VOG weapons, Thorn etc) and were entered in as 'not applicable' (n/a).
- Classes / characters that were 'new' and did not have a fully-populated skill tree were also ignored. N.B – - Not all top 100 players have 3 characters.
- Some players just have one or have lower light duplicate class guardians. These do not factor into the spreadsheet either.
- Toughness / Speed / Battle recovery settings were included in plain english rather than using codex etc.
- The name Harrowed from Hard Mode Raid was ignored.
The layout of the spreadsheet
The first page is all the data of the top 100 players.
The more interesting bits are located at the bottom of the spreadsheet, where you will see different tabs/pages. The tabs / pages act like filters – so you gradually see a more focused picture of classes, subclasses and weapons.
Limitations of this research
It is an amateur attempt by someone with a visual learning disability. Data needs verifying by someone with good eyesight.
Data within Destiny is dynamic. It is not static but constantly changing and updating.
The perks / rolls on weapons and armor might skew the data.
100 players is a small data sample.
The suggested findings may not enhance the chances of getting to the Lighthouse.
I could use the same weapons and armor as the top players and still come bottom. :(
Every class and subclass can reach the lighthouse.

1 ReplyLove your work. A+++
-
I doubt voidfang is most used by voidwalkers. Ram or nothing manacles takes the cake
-
3 RepliesHow did you have the effort to type all of this all you had to put was titans and hunters are OP I personally think all classes are balance every class can be matched
-
1 ReplyHow come voidfang is most used for sunsingers?
-
47 RepliesI love the fact you pointed out 98 percent of the top 100 use blade dancer, the most op subclass just because it has health regen on stab kills, can front back stab, has quick draw on every weapon, has blink, super has 50 percent damage reduction with ridiculous aim assist (Titan sun charge has nothing on blade dance) skip grenades that can pick up your tracking multiple times even if you shadestep out They nerfed the Titans health recovery but not blade dancers Hmmmmm..... Bungie won't do away with blade dancer til destiny 2 so that the streamers keep the game alive
-
27 RepliesLol 98% out of 100 use Hunters 70 players out of 100 use Titans...... Two classes in and this post is already invalid :)
-
19 RepliesNo surprise here that sunsingers are the most used. Firebolts are balanced..... *Sips tea*
-
1 ReplyYour numbers and data seems very inaccurate.
-
4 RepliesHow does 98 of the top 100 osiris players use hunter if 78 of top 100 use warlock? 98 plus 78 is more than 100.
-
4 RepliesOne question, what warlock would use voidfang vestments for sun singer?
-
Nice dude
-
Fantastic research. Very interesting to read.

28 RepliesEdited by Lorentz Driver: 5/19/2016 12:20:09 AMIt's funny because my team and I 5-0'd KJHovey and tkriella this weekend on stream.

1 ReplyWhat is a visual learning disability? How does it differ from other learning disabilities? Is it a form of dyslexia? Or does it involve more? How does it affect your daily life? Just curious because that is a new term to me.
-
1 ReplyOh thank god nobody knows the twilight garrison glitch yet those Titan stats would go through the roof!!
-
6 RepliesWhat I don't get in that there data is the popularity of Bones of Eao. To me that's one of the worst Hunter exotics. Especially for Void/Solar subclass types. What good is an extra jump in a class that can already jump 3 times? Especially when you can get more melee (good with smoke) charges or the choice of either more powerful or more plentiful golden gun shots. I just dont understand.
-
3 RepliesSo it looks like the top 3 guns of primaries and specials are the ones constantly being called op. Alot of people say this is the best Balance of guns ever. Well ya I heard year 1 there were only 3 good guns. And now there are like 6 out of alot. That's not balanced. That's like saying it's twice as balanced. Ya, but that's a bad phrase to use with this

Bump for later

I am a representative of Bungie. We thank you for gathering this data and doing our job for us because we're really lazy. Our response is, officially, to nerf Nechrochasm. It needs a nerf.

7 RepliesMida isn't in the top 5 for primary? Invalid stats

1 ReplyUpdate from my post yesterday, ... Used the blade dancer loadout above last night. Two games, 15,3 in salvage, then scored a super satisfying rift dunk having blinked around 3 enemies to win a game against a team that had camped middle on that earth map with the track through the middle (frontier?). Got several blade dancer multi kills. So all in all much better than before. Only tweaked a few of the options but felt like it did make a difference. I'm still struggling with blinking up to platforms where you need to be a bit accurate, but I was getting there by the end. Anyway, again, thanks for your post. Genuinely improved my set up and made me give blink another try. Also, might drop the fast res in trials for tarantella and just try to die less ...

21 Repliesdamnit, now even more try hards are going to create three OP hunters, to then come on here and cry they died one time by a warlock and they need a nerf, or a titan shoulder charged them, they need a nerf. I hope destiny two don't have hunters, they all got killed in a cabal raid and you're current hunter comes back as a stone. But the new character you get, can wear the hunters armor. But their main perk is a flood of tears.. Which makes them flop on the ground, kicking and screaming, while turning the whole map into an ocean, killing everybody.

1 ReplyYou should add up the total time played for each of the characters of the top 100 and see where they spend their time
