Gears of War Ultimate Edition multiplayer
I finally got around to playing Gears multiplayer for the first time. I can finally say that Gears multiplayer is.............disappointing.
This slow paced combat transfer from campaign to multiplayer just doesn't feel right. I know you can run and all but the maps are so small! First map I was on was a mansion with the upper walkways and the first floor. That was it, that was the entire firefight location. go into the house and fight till you die. This map design is just beyond basic. More symmetrical maps than Black Ops 2. Don't like the map design
Garbage loadout system. Lancer and Gnasher and go. Wanna change your smoke grenade to a frag grenade? OH NO! -blam!- that! that's too practical we can't have that! Ohhhhh no sir. -blam!-ing bullshit
Does this game have dedicated servers? does it? It sure as hell doesn't feel like it. In the match that made me quit I shot a guy 3 times with the gnasher and what does he do? Turns around and kills me in one hit. That sound fair to you? Well if it does you have serious mental trauma. NAT issues galore
How many weapons are there? Trick question, not enough. There's the Lancer, Gnasher, that explosive Bow thing that I can't remember the name of, and the pistols (which, who the hell uses?), the sniper rifle and the Hammerburst (I think so anyway I didn't see a single one during my play time). That's it. Incredibly small arsenal so almost every one has the same weapons! Halo has many more weapons to choose from
[b][u]This game is easy too[/u][/b]. When the connection is working of course. The enemy team was capping a zone and I was just headshotting them to oblivion with the sniper rifle. They even tried to come get me but I'd just whip out the Gnasher and BOOM. Body parts everywhere. I got the most kills out of that game and frankly I was just trolling to be honest
Don't know why this franchises multiplayer gets so much attention when the campaign is clearly superior. You can get this same gameplay in the campaign but without the headache
I rate 6/10. It's quite fun but lacks weapons and proper connections to servers

1 ReplyI suck at gears mp. It's easily one of the more difficult ones to get the hang of. I still have fun. Gears is definitely a game you have to play a lot to be good. Sounds to me like you haven't put enough time in to be good at it.

1 ReplySome take aways i got from this, if you dislike what i have to say then that's on you. -you quit matches, that is very frowned upon and shows poor sportsmanship -you didn't go for the objective and instead camped with a snipe getting kills, play the objective friendo. - not sure if lag, your connection or your aiming, could be any of those that explains your shots. -Gears is about map and weapon control. Grenades are extremely deadly, which is why they're a power weapon. Spawning with them would be a shitty idea. -I'll say it bring it up once more, but don't quit matches. I'll also say this again, if you dislike anything i just typed then that is on you.

3 RepliesI respect your opinion, but you have to realize it's gears of war 1 which came out in 2006, 10 years ago. The maps and weapons and movement are all from then... You can't look at halo 1 and complain it's not like halo 5 can you? Gears of war 3 is a much faster paced multiplayer than 1. The reason gears is so popular is that in the recent games, skill is really required to do well (recent as in 3 and 4). Being able to wall bounce, knowing the mechanics, and knowing how to blind fire are all things that cause huge skill gaps. Additionally, not every game needs a load out system. I prefer games like the old halo and like gears, where everyone starts with the same weapons and power weapons spawn on the map. Call of duty introduced load outs awhile ago, and more and more games have been heading in that direction. I personally love gears, I think the multiplayer is great, although it is centered around close quarter combat for the most part (seems to not be the case in 4, and 3 did a decent job of balancing close and long combat). It definitely isn't for everyone though. P.S. You could spawn with frags in judgement, and anybody you ask will tell you it was a disaster.

Yeah, I don't like the Gears multiplayer either. It effectively is just people with shotguns going into cover around corners to make their guy move in weird ways so they can get close and shotgun you, not fun.

3 RepliesGears multiplayer is popular because it's so competitive. If you can't use the gnasher well you will lose every time. It's usually intense 1 v 1 combat with people fighting for power weapons. If everyone has frags the game would be ruined, it's suited much better as a power weapon. The game doesn't need any more weapons imo. I highly disagree with you saying the game is too easy, it's far from easy unless you're playing social with a bunch of nobodies. Also the active reload is what seperates the winners from the losers, could be why you're losing out on shotgun battles. Gears is a very intense game considering its almost always a close range battle with gnashers, the better player comes out on top.

GoW Multiplayer is a cover-based arena shooter, somewhat like halo, but in a 3rd person view with no shields, the map being your only shield. frag grenades are one of the power weapon spawns on the map. if you're quick, you can pick it up when it spawns and use it GoW UE is GoW1(~2006) game running with dedicated servers and 3's Netcode(the least random aka "best" one of the franchise) and a few of 3's mechanics mixed in. OG GoW 1 for 360 really had janky netcode and host dependency. typically the host and their team won unless the other team was really good. it's not just some new game, it's a resurrected version of an old game and fans of it like it and put a lot of time into it on both consoles. Perfect Active Reloads are critical to victory at any range, especially if you're not ambush-wallbanging to a no-aim gnasher headshot. PARs have a damage, range, and fire-rate boost combined with a headshot damage boost for critical damage. they also reload much faster. you don't aim unless you're using a rifle or learning where the shotgun reticule would be typically. you don't rush without actives unless you're trying to die early. also, chainsaw sucks but can be lulzy if you just don't care about winning.
