Exactly what you said. You kill crota at 170 it's in the dark below context (TDM comes with the ttk btw). If he was to step foot past 170 light in terms of drop. He would technically be setting foot in y2. Which story-wise he has no business in. With oryx, every raid you do he's dropping 170+ gear. Simply increasing the light of the gear he drops doesn't change the context of the oryx fight because it is still above 170 light in y2 like it always been. Therefore increasing the light for oryx (290, 310, 330) doesn't change the fact he is in the ttk universe because he always has been. Ergo, he always dropped gear above 170. On the Contrary, crota has never dropped gear above 170. Therefore he is in the context of year 1. If his gear would be updated, it would indicate crota is apart of y2. This would need to have an explanation, shit just doesn't happen randomnly.
