Vault of Glass > King's Fall, and for ONE reason only

This is why: Vault of Glass is never too punishing, nor is it too easy. If one person dies (assuming you have a full fireteam), the rest can continue just fine, with little to no difficulties. If the guy with the relic dies, just pass it on to the other guy. If you wipe, it doesn't really take very long to get back to where you were. King's Fall? You're shit out of luck if even ONE guy dies. This is especially apparent in Totems, Deathsingers and Oryx. Bonus "I'm screwed" points if the person that dies was the relic runner. And if it's hard mode? Too bad, if one guy dies (or heaven forbid he disconnects because Bungo's servers consist of two potatoes and a tulip), you're doing it all over again. Take Golgoroth Challenge for example. It doesn't matter how far you get into the challenge, if so much as ONE guy dies, you have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. It's not that I suck at it, it's just so tedious to do it again. Oh, and don't get me started on the random disconnects. It's bad enough that the servers consist of two budding potatoes and a dead tulip, but if one guy disconnects? Restart. They don't even have the courtesy to give you back your ammo, or at least spawn you back alive. You start from nothing when you reconnect. It is for this ONE reason why VoG will always be better than KF. The fact that VoG is willing to forgive beginners' mistakes (and the servers' screw-ups) and still be a fair challenge. KF is like, "Hell no, bitch, you screw up or if the servers die on you, I don't care, you do it again." And I think that this is why the people who host LFGs for KF are less forgiving than the raid itself. On one LFG raid, they asked if I had a 300 Black Spindle. At the time, I only had a 299 Black Spindle. So what did they do? They kicked me. Come on, it's close enough. That's all I have to say.

  • If they kicked you for that, trust me you wouldn't have enjoyed playing with them. Also they probably suck if they think 1 light level makes that much difference

  • I've ended up 5 manning oryx heroic countless times and 4 manned him a few times when people die early on. Golgoroth can be 3 manned except the challenge mode but it's challenge mode so of course it's unforgiving. The best thing about kings fall is that people have to learn to progress instead of just getting carried all the time.

    • Actually many people, people who don't play anymore, complained in the early stages of Y1 that the raid was too easy for exactly those reasons. Then crota came out and the lack of genuine hard content was even more laughable. I think bungie did a very good job at making Kings Fall take a true team effort. A raid in destiny is a [b]6 man event and should require the full team performing with precision[/b] in order to tackle it. Normal mode is for learning and making mistakes. HM and the challenges are for the practiced vets who know their roles, strats and what is needed. Ill always love VoG and am one of the people here that still would like bungie to make that content relevant again. But the fact that a kinderguardian can solo it and crota now doesn't help it's case, that just makes it look bad.

    • VoG also has a lot of nostalgic value for me. I really enjoyed Destiny differently when it was just the vanilla game and TDB. HoW added some new life to those two chapters too. King's Fall is cast under the shadow of Y2 and thus will never be as enjoyable as Y1.

    • I definitely agree vog is better than kings fall, but also you only need 5 people for oryx and 4 for death singers, it's forgiving if your team can actually learn to adapt.

      • You don't have to wipe when someone dies, as long as your group can adapt to changes in gameplay based on the mistakes that happen. Sure it's more challenging to do that in King's Fall than in VoG. But at least it's a good challenge, unlike shitty strikes like this weeks nightfall. A raid is supposed to be challenging and at the moment I feel like the raid is the only challenge in destiny that isn't filled with artificial difficulty. But yes, I do agree that VoG is better than KF overall.

      • Did you even play in year 1 bruh? Everything you said about Kings Fall occurred in VoG back then too. Now we see posts for Black Spindle/315+ Light level. Back then, it was Gjallarhorn/30 Light Level. As far as unforgiving if someone dies? You realize that all but Sisters can be done with 3 people or less, and Sisters requires only 4? If you choose to wipe in Kings Fall because one person dies, that is on you. But most of the time, you don't even have too. Back in early VoG days, everything was such a bullet sponge that if anybody died from a mechanic, it usually meant the rest of the team couldn't do enough damage to kill the boss. Plus, the most of the mechanics ended up killing the entire team, causing a wipe anyway. #TitanMasterRace

          • I recently did VoG & I say I enjoyed doing it again. Like you said it's not that punishing. We've had about everyone except me die in defending conflux part & we're still able to go on. I like the freedom of being able to run around & deal with the adds, run to mid for ammo & run around sum more Kings Fall? You have to stand on a certain area the whole time & theres hardly any running around freely.
