You know how people are getting tired of running raid after raid and getting gear that always has terrible light? You know how some people end up being forever 319? I have a solution to this problem! It will allow players to reach max lvl more easily, but it will not be as easy to reach max lvl as it was in the HoW loot system. Plus you won't have to change anything in the current loot system!
Let's say you run the KF raid. Every time you kill a boss you are guaranteed a drop called a Shard of Light. What the Shard of Light does is it allows you to increase one of your gears light lvl by one. So even if you got loot with crap light, you would still be able to increase your light level. This would ensure that every time you ran the raid, you would at least be increasing your light by a little bit. I think it's a genius idea!
Edit: Maybe it would also be a good idea to implement it in the nightfall loot table. BTW some of your ideas sound really good. Keep them coming, maybe Bungie will take inspiration from them.
Edit 2: I personally miss the old loot system from VoG and CE. I'd rather have that than the current loot system.

I remember Datto saying something similar to this, but instead you could trade in about 25 Moldering shards and glimmer to increase a armour piece by 1 light.

I'm not commander sheppard. But this is my favourite post on the citadel.

Finally got 1 to 320...would have gone postal if I would have went through another oryx challenge with no helm drops

Edited by Stentorian Lid: 3/9/2016 6:58:23 AMI love that idea, especially if you could put it into old gear, it would take a while but would be worthwhile Edit: also I feel, don't want to self advertise or anything, that you should read this https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/194912665/0/0 I would like as many opinions on it as possible, and I love how since I've posted it I've seen a lot more PvE posts

5 Repliesbut then you'd have to nerf fusion rifiles...

Honestly, I remember in a live stream how this guy who's speciality among many things was the loot table. In the raid, week after bloody week, I'm constantly being denied that one last item I need to hit 320. I think of that guy and how he told all of us that the loot drops would take into consideration those items that the player has already received and therefore award items not yet attained. If only this were true. I don't mind grinding for the loot but I need to feel like this is going to eventually pay out... Instead, it feels like practicing insanity. Recommendation: Bungie, fix the loot drops according to what you advertised!

6 RepliesUhhhhhhhhhh you do realize chasing max light is what keeps you coming back to playing........... that's what it's designed to do.

This exact idea was presented before ttk and ignored. Feelsbadman

2 RepliesHonestly i hate the way the light system is currently. In fact i think it's worse than year one as far as grind goes. I bought TTK expecting an exp system like we were told but that was a joke.

Etheric light! For one-two light levels.

31 RepliesYou would need more ways than just Nightfall and Raid, maybe Strike and Crucible too.

1 ReplyDon't you know this is the internet. You can't bring logic to a place like this. Remove this post before people start rioting!

It's funny, because I had the same exact idea the other day when I was thinking about Etheric Light. So yeah, I think it's a good idea.

This is one of the the best things I've read today. The Shards shouldn't be too common, but not too rare either. Everything that yields Legendary Marks could also yield one Shard of Light. Think of how many individual Gear pieces you have across three Guardians. One extra point of Attack/Defense on a single piece of Gear per Shard. It would not be unbalanced.

Love it! It's simple, and keeps everything relevant. Let's the player choose how they want to play.

3 RepliesEdited by Sir_Rigid_Beast: 3/8/2016 8:24:31 PMThe raid already drops shards. They could allow you to use a specific amount to increase the light lvl of gear or weapons. Who wants double drops of low light weapons or gear anyway. You can't infuse them into anything. They simply turn into legendary marks that are capped at 200. Too simple. BUNGGIE will never go for it. I have 2 characters at 319 and the other at 320. Getting tired of the hot logs dumped on my chest every week. Edit P. S. I have over 300 "mouldy sharts" in my vault. Would gladly use 20-30 per light lvl.

Even though Cozmo says great job, keep the ideas comming, Bungie doesn't want players to achieve 320 easily. The grind for 320 is the only thing keeping some players engaged until new content drops.

1 Replymaybe bungie could just allow us to infuse any gear into our good gear to slowly bring it up
Let's say you run the KF raid. Every time you kill a boss you are guaranteed a drop called a Shard of Light.
Cool idea, but have it drop from something new. Had my fill of KF.

I like it

This is a good idea. Maybe there's a chance of consumption :0 You use it first, it's only got like a 5% chance of consuming. Use it again, then it's 10%. Again, it raises to 5% to 15%. It keeps raising by 5% until it runs out. This way, it could be used to upgrade a few more pieces of gear without it being to OP. Maybe raise the first chance to 30% so if you're very lucky, you can raise your entire light value by at least 1-1.5 (around that much) every raid or so on guarentee.

1 ReplyLol then they will make a shard for each armor and weapon slot. So you have a chance to get a sol for a specific armor piece. Just to keep the grind going. Oh you need that helm sol. Well keep grinding until you get lucky and get the amount you need

Edited by bobswerski: 3/8/2016 6:47:35 PMActually a really good idea. Color me pleasantly surprised.
