Exactly when does this begin?
Here is a small list of things I (and likely others) do not consider loot:
[b]Hadium Flakes
Wormspore
Calcified Fragments[/b] I'm actually on the fence with this one. The fragments do lead you to getting the [b]quest[/b] for the ToM which could by some be considered loot. BUT they also provide grimoire which I do not consider loot.

Moldering Shards
A chest that has a very small chance of dropping an exotic[/b]
Are we considering what we get from the CoO to be loot? You know what, I'll give you that....as long as you're below 300 light. After 300, CoO is nothing more than a time killer as I do not consider weapon parts or armor materials (and again calcified fragments) to be loot either.
Do I have a convoluted idea of loot? Possibly, but I consider loot to be weapons & gear. I would even allow ammo synths to be considered loot but nothing from the list above..

Whatever happened to those so called Exotic boxes they teased when they were showing off the Dreadnaught previews. Dude got a Gjallarhorn in a box on patrol... Where dafaq is that box at?! lol

When they said the dreadnought was full of loot to keep you going for days this isn't what I expected Also when you said oryx I immediately thought of the raid lol

Definitely not what they hyped it up to be. I thought all those chests would have better crap than flakes, blue engrams and motes.

Found 72 no land beyonds, 89 ballerhorns, 32 Icebreakers I think oryx is stuck in y1

They made it sound like the dreadnought was going to be a place you had to explore with puzzles, secret bosses, and chests that can actually drop things. It's a patrol without sparrows and you can choose when to begin public events. Neat.

3 Replieswell moldering shards stack a RNG on top of the RNG for Oryx - so indirectly they equal loot. The Exotic Chest is literally exactly no different than the exotic chests in the other two raids. I certainly only ever got an exotic out of the gorgon chest, every once in awhile so..... ??? Considering Wormspore and Hadium flakes are he only Mats not sold in the tower - which is a debatable decision, but it is a complete methodology. Calcified Fragments are the first stage of a quest, a non-llinear, in game quest to be exact. CoO - is a stepping stone. it helps immensely to pull you from 280 light to about 300 - at which point the raid is supposed to take over. my problem with this is that these days it appears the nightfall is also geared towards the exact same light increase area. They should either make the nightfall harder - or selectable levels. Or make CoO's different tiers more meaningful, with more difficult top tier and better top tier loot. Lastly, I'll put in there that if you're not used to 90% of your "loot" being nothing but materials fodder, then buddy, you don't have enough experience with RPG's. the fact that I can take a character through the hard raid at any time, challenge or not, at and least come out with SOMETHING, even if it's just another slightly higher light object to infuse into something I have.... the loot drops in KF are actually pretty decent by standard RPG criteria. KF *always* gives you something. How many of us had complete Atheon completions where all we got was another pair of gloves or boots, and nothing worth keeping? Plenty. plenty of plenty's. KF will always drop something meaningful. and yes, I use that loosely. just because you don't use your conspiracy theory-d very often, being able to infuse it from 309 light to 312 with the Midha Reckoning that dropped because your 1KYS is already 320 ??? hey, it's something.

The problem isn't necessarily that harder activities award these items, the problem is that there is not enough material trading in this game. If you could turn a specific amount of ANYTHING into something else you need or (motes/coins) they would actually be worth something.

3 RepliesYeah, you just described mats, not loot. Mats can only really be considered loot in a game where you can sell your crafted items. Loot is definitely guns and such. On the other hand, they did say inscrutable, so maybe we just can't scrut it. Or something.

I get an exotic almost every time I run the raid out of that chest. I need Hadium flakes and worms pore so it's loot to me. I love the calcified fragments and grimoire, consider that loot. Basically it depends on the person.

Would be great if CoO was relevant rather than not but that would ruin the way they implemented light increases and progression. The issue always seems to be progression. And too fast and people get bored when they max out. Too slow and people get bored when they don't max out. I would like to see if they made Destiny grindy, rather than RNGish. If you actually had to grind for what was slow progress every time rather than hoping for good loot. I wonder how people would react to that rather than RNG.

Oh thank goodness, for a while there I thought it was just my friends and I that couldn't locate the Loot Fortress. You know what, now that I think about it maybe the Eververse lady has it for sale. Lol, I bet that's where we screwed up. C'mon guys- TO EVERVERSE! TO THE FORTRESS!

1 ReplyI have received a lot of loot from Taken King. A good chunk of that bring from the Dreadnaught. TTK was excellent. But I do have an issue. I used to receive excellent rolls on Legendaries back in Year 1. My LDR came with APR and Firefly. My Longbow cam with Ambush snapshot and firefly. It has max stability. But this year? So many Legendaries binned because their perks are so bad. The Gunsmith is the only legit way to get God rolls on your Legendaries. Drops are just marks at this point. Which really has to be addressed.
