i dont think its op now, especially after the nerf, so its fine. thats my thought
Proof is on his twitter, he didnt ask us directly, becuz we would give him too much salt about him asking about it now or whatnot, so he only asked his twitter followers!

Would love for them to make thorn a year two weapon. As long as we can use it till destiny 2 and not get left behind a week after it gets brought up. My favorite gun due to the sound, feel, and aesthetics. I approve.

To balance it out I'd much rather just see autos and HC's besides the thorn and last word buffed. But it could very easily still require a nerf after that.

Problem is it kills on 3 body shots. No headshots required. I think the DoT should only apply on headshots.

Loved Holtzmans idea of it only causing DoT on crits. Would force ppl if they wanted to use to be highly accurate with it to get the DoT effect.

Thorn is the least of my worries when it comes to this game. Maybe he should focus on the issues with the game instead of a single weapon.

Thorn was horrible at first, then it was sick and bad@ss. It wasn't an issue at first because it was limited to crappy void weapons to get the bounty done, the game wasn't out long enough for everyone to have massive choices to get the void kills (at least for Hunters, which is the only class I play. My Warlcok has 7 mns/Titan several hours. Day 1 beta player.). Then after all the new weapons and more time, more players had it. That equals the inevitability of the Nerf, then DOT got cut. At first it was so noticeable many switched to try other guns (the intended purpose, I'm sure). Going back and pulling it out for sh*ts & giggles, it turns out to still be a fun gun to use. But nerfing it anymore just puts it back to where it was pre buff. Pointless. An exotic needs to feel distinguished and powerful. If anything, it needs to be left alone and MORE exotics need to be buffed. Not the other way around. At one time, it was an honor using Thorn to show you completed the challenge of the bounty. They won't take that away, all other Y2's have more to them now than Y1, being stuck at Y1 is nerf enough. A Y2 should be better than its predecessor. So just make acquiring a Y2 Thorn harder than the first one. Then it won't be everywhere and the owners will be happy. Just as good as a Nerf.

They should bring it back and just make an armor perk that blocks burning from guns/melee/grenades. That way people would have a chance to avoid the part of the gun they hate the most.

Don't care. I love my thorn. Did several 10/0 matches with it in cd. Still use it in small arms nightfalls. That being said...it shouldn't come back. If you want to use it, sacrifice the light. She takes skill to use now in y2 situations.

1 ReplyThe weapon is dumb, people complain about firebolts all the time at the moment, that is a hand cannon that basically hits you as a firebolt does, with 9 in the mag. DoT on weapons just shouldn't exist, its bad enough on abilities as it is, leave it in year 1 or change it if your gonna bring it to year 2.

As someone else said, " make the dot work only on minions of darkness." As for PVP make the dot suppress health regen. It was a fun weapon in Y1, annoying in crucible and trials in HOW, but still fun.

I'm salty cause I'm only just now good enough in crucible to complete the Thorn quest. Got it as my free "thanks for being a year one vet!" reward when TTK came out.

My thoughts on thorn are to leave it out of y2. Buff hawkmoon range back to normal.
