The number of people using snipers is ruining Iron Banner.
I have no problem with snipers themselves, I don't really feel like they're all that great, but the sheer number of players using snipers in Iron Banner is honestly ruining the flow of the game. It's currently slowed down way too much because people fear being picked off around every corner they turn, and certain parts of maps are being shut down completely by just 1-2 people using snipers. Something needs to be done with the other three special weapon types so players are more likely to use all four types equally, instead of 95% using just snipers. It's getting quite ridiculous now, and there's a large number of my friends deciding to skip iron banner, and the crucible all together because of it, which I find sad.
Edit: This has nothing to do with being killed by a sniper or that I think they're overpowered. This is about the amount of people using them and how it ruins the flow of the maps and game in general. Please stop responding with the typical "learn how to counter it" that has nothing to do with anything, even when I do flank them and everything suggested, I can't do anything about teammates that still continually run out and get picked off trying to counter snipe, and other stupid shit that eventually loses the game.
Edit: Day 4 of Iron Banner, started to play on my hunter after achieving rank 5 on my warlock. The land is still corrupt with red glows as far as I can see.
Turn a corner, get picked off.
Run to cover, get picked off.
Enter a room, get picked off.
Use super, get picked off.
Out shoot enemy, get picked off by said enemy at any given range.
Spawn, get picked off.
Return to orbit, get picked off.
This is just sad.

There is a difference between frustrating and action packed and frustrating and boring. Seeing four red dots every time you try to move across the map is ruining the game.

Oh it's way to late for snipers now. there the most popular gun in the game with around 80% of players using them. ( probably 70% using 1000 yard) bungie will nerf them thank Fk !!! It's how this game works

I just don't like it on certain maps. Pantheon is fine. You can cut a sharp corner to make it to middle from the spot with the special boxes and you can stay there the majority of the match but maps like Black Shield, the threat of sniper is everywhere on that map. Dungeon is fairly decent. Stay around the middle and you should be fine but go downstairs or up the ramp area with the heavy in the middle, snipers on both sides. When you can lock out 2/3's of a map because of one weapon, that's really unbalanced. Vertigo is one of the maps that you don't really get sniped too often on. It's just that one small spot in the middle between C and A. Most of the other maps do not show up in rotation. So...

4 RepliesWell now you have to think the worse of the two evils, either everyone uses a sniper or everyone uses a shotgun and rushes blindly firing party crashers or consperacy theory D People rarely use fusions unless they know how to use them (which i respect those who do use fusions effectively) and sidearms are seemed to be only used for ammo glitching or its a havoc pigeon with like a NLB or something There r only 4 special weapon types so think of it like that lol. Tbh i prefer the sniper fear than spawning and getting party crashered on spawn from 15 feet away. . .

4 RepliesI think the fact that the game mode is clash is the problem. With no objective other than to kill, there is no reason to rush forward and engage in close quarters shoot outs. IB should always have an objective IMO. I've played several games this week where it's 6v6, myself included, sat either end of them map just sniping at each other. At least with rift or control there is a reason for both teams to rush to a centre focal point of the map and fight up close.

4 Repliessnipers were not originally overpowered. but the primary weapons have a slow ttk, the other special weapons have been uber nerfed down so that leaves the high impact snipers alone at the top. even the thornible was better than the mess we have now in sniperble. it kills all map flow, primary weapons may as well never come out against them. either everything needs buffing back up so snipers arent alone at the top or snipers need to be nerfed.

We literally have had to make up or adjust to lingo in order to communicate the current state Destiny pvp is in. Im not saying these are completely new concepts or terms, but I am saying that I hardly ever saw them used until 4 or so months ago (on these forums). "stay out of sniper lanes" basically means stay put. Snipers are effective in any straight line from point A to point B. Why have this whole map for pvp, but you are limited to where you can go and how you traverse it because of how much map control a team has when everyone is using a sniper.

Clash ruined iron banner. PvP sucks in this game anyway. If I wanted to learn a new weapon balance every couple months I'd just buy a new game every couple of months.

I love my snipers. I'd rather be in a sniper duel than the BS shotguns. Guy jumps at me, 4 pulse bursts from my Bad JuJu and he kills me. Crazy.

I like to play with sidearms, shotguns, and fusions until we really start losing then the sweatiness comes out and snipe becomes the only option, no shame in my game

Well that's what happens when everything gets nerfed. The last shotgun nerf shifted a lot of people to snipers. Between that and the fact that two of the most common primaries right now (doctrine and last word) absolutely dump on shotguns, you are going to see a lot more sniper use. Fusions and sidearms are barely in the equation. As much as some people swear by them and some may be good weapons, they just aren't used as much. I still mostly run a shotgun in crucible because I just don't enjoy sniping. It's still not a bad way to go as long as your not challenging doctrine and last word users but it's not hard to see why so many have gone to snipers.
