How did you go 300+?
I'm currently trying to top 300 so as to seem like a viable teammate for KF. I'm sitting at 295 ATM and think the next best step for me is to start doing the Nightfall and hoping for an upgrade, yet I see a a lot of "LFM for Nightfall, 300+", so it begs to question can you get to 300+ without running the Nightfall? How did you do it?

Lucky rare and legendary drops from strikes and the cryptarch, straight pve earned gear atm, im at 305 if I equip my twilight garrison

Get people to help you with raid/nightfall, and grind iron banner

You can get above 300 by doing iron banner, crimson doubles, srl and nightfalls.

Iron banner. Normal raid. Trials bounties. Exotics (sword, ToM drop at 310). Nightfall. You are high enough level for normal raid.

Good food ... good sleep...and plenty of leg humpin ;-)

Iron banner is on right now so take advantage of that. Vanguard heroic strikes. Kings Fall raid on normal a bunch of times.

Normal kf, nf, do trials if your into pvp, iron banner can have high drops to. I started normal kf till I got to about 306 then started hard when it came out

Iron Banner. Grind it once and you'll be 300+ given your current light.

295 is perfectly fine for kings fall normal. 290 is the recommended so you're fine. Try using the100.io for finding groups. You can make your own so its really useful.

I got to 299 by playing CoO almost non-stop. I eventually just found enough rare items at 299 and 300 that I got to that point. Then I got an exotic sword which pushed me over the mark. I started playing the level 36 strike playlist (almost exclusively) and got lucky with some 310 exotics, which were infused to bring my light level even higher. Then I played in IB and got enough gear to break through the 310 barrier. Infusing a few more items brought me to 311, which guarantees a 310 exotic drop when you use 3oC. More level 36 strikes, more IB events, and SRL boosted me even higher and brought my lesser played characters to the 310+ mark. To date, I've only played the KF raid once, and only on NM. I didn't even get anything good from the run. It is possible to get to 320 without raiding. It's just going to take a lot longer.

I have had the game for about 5 weeks now and all of my characters (3) are 300+. Just do the raids, nightfall, and crucible events.

Get a group for Normal mode Kings Fall. That's the best/quickest way to 300+.
